KOT Richard "Dick" Anthony Kot, Ph.D., age 71, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio due to complications from liver cancer surgery, with his loving family by his side.
Dick was born in Syracuse, New York on May 22, 1941.
He graduated from LeMoyne College and Syracuse University going on to work as a metallurgist at Republic Steel Research Center in Cleveland, OHIO from 1969 to 1986 and also Worthington Industries of Worthington, OH from 1986 to the present.
Dick was primarily known for the love of his family, his accordion playing, his attention to detail and unique sense of humor. He enjoyed our family pierogi making tradition, golfing, biking and watching his beloved Syracuse Orangemen and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He was able to cross two items off of his bucket list by hiking the Grand Canyon and traveling to the Master's golf tournament. He was a member of St. Brendan Church of Hilliard, OH.
Predeceased by his parents Anthony and Sally Kot.
Survived by his loving wife, Linda, of 33 years; two sons, Mark (Gerry McCarthy) of Phoenix, AZ and Brian (Courtney) of Circleville, OH; six daughters, Christina (McCarthy) of Medina, OH, Karen (Gibbs) of Ashland, OH, Vicki (Chris Barone) of Newbury, OH, Sandy (Jervis) of Hilliard, OH, Debra (Keith Klebacha) of Chicago, IL and Sarah of Hilliard, OH; 17 grandchildren; brother, Robert (Natalie) of Syracuse, NY; and sister, Patricia (William Mahan) of Liverpool, NY; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at O.R. WOODYARD CO. Northwest Chapel, 2990 Bethel Rd., Columbus, OH 43220. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday,
November 21, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. to be followed by 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brendan Church, 4475 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, OH.
Interment will immediately follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Raymond Rd., Marysville, OHIO 43040.
