It seems that your future, or current father-in-law, would be my husbands cousin. Is your fiance's father John Fedinatz? I haven't checked the message board in a long time. My email address has changed since my original post and I wasn't notified of a response. The Kovatch's are hard to trace but the Fedinatz's are even harder.

I have old pictures of the Charles Fedinatz Sr. family including Charles Jr. If anyone is interested I can scan and email them.

My fiance is a Fedinatz whose grandfather is a Fedinatz from that area. There aren't many; most stayed in the coal mining regions in Alleghany, Latrobe, etc. See these boards for help.

I'm looking for Nicholas "Nicky Dad" Kovach b.early 1900's, Hungary? and unknown wife (my grandmother) possible Italian. She died after birth with my mother, Barbara Dawn Kovach b.Ap 1935 in Passaic, NJ. My mother went to orphanage and the two older sibs, Sally and Donald went to relatives. My mother met "Nicky Dad" her father, and HIS father Nicholas Kovach Sr.(b.late 1800's,Hungary)in San Fran. in 1971, before my mother death in 1973. We can not find my mother's birth Cert. I was recently told by a geneology expert that the name Kovac, if it were from the Hungarian decent, would actually have and s on the end of it. In other words the name would be Kovacs or pronounced Kovach.

Hi. My name is Zuzana Ukova. My greatgrand father name is Stefan (Steve)Kovacs from Slovakia, probably Velke Uherce, not sure because iam trying to figure out few thinks.
He was married Katarina Tomasikova and they had one child (not sure if only one) Irena. She was my grandmother.
I am trying to find out if she had brother or sisters.

My name is Amanda Kovac and i'm trying to research my family tree... My Grandfather ZVONKO KOVAC migrated to Australia with his wife ANA nee SABO and their two sons DRAGUTIN and BERISLAV. They arrived in Australia on 11/11/1969. ZVONKO was born 6/12/1934 in NOVA BUKOVICA former Yugoslavia. ANA was born 24/2/1935 in CACINCI former Yugoslavia. ZVONKO's parents were DRAGUTIN and EVICA. ANA's father was JOSIP SABO. We don't know Ana's mothers name as she passed away when Ana was young.. If anyone knows anything about the family or can point me where to look I'd really appreciate it.

I know that my husbands family came over here around the turn of the century and they changed it from Kovacs to Kovatch and Kovach they were from hungary from a little town 75 miles from Budapest I belive.

I am researching the Kovacs (Kovach) names. I have only one name. Andras Kovacs. He was from Kassa, Abouj-torma, Hungary. born abt 1887. He marries Erzsebet Balazs and had four children. Gizella, Ethel, Elizabeth & Carl. They lived mostly in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Kovac with check on the "c" can be croatian surname becose I am croatian and my roots are hungarian and they date back to 1542 when my family was given a title of nobility. Today the majority of this branch of Kovac family lives in Croatia, and our surname is writen with check over "c".

I don't know if my family would be of help to you, but my grandfather, Paul Kovac, also spelled Kovach, actually came to the United States in 1905 and moved to Chicago, Illinois. He had a brother named Joseph Kovac or Kovach, who also moved first to Chicago and later to Miami or Miami Beach, Florida. I think this Joseph was his older brother, but he also had a son Joseph who continued to live on the South Side of Chicago. He married and had 3 children, Maryann, Joseph and Rosemary. I remember that Joseph became a teacher and I know he taught History at James H. Bowen High School at least as a substitute teacher in the late 1960s. Does any of this information help you? If you can link your family with mine in Chicago, please let me know and I can provide more information.

I am looking for information on my family tree. In the subject line are the names that are related to me in Worchester, Clinton Massachusettes. My Grandfather had many name changes the last being John Kovac. He before that was Jon Kaliszewski and was half brother to a Lemanski in Worchester, Mass. Because of all the name changes and my inablility to read russian/polish I am having a hard time tracking our family history. Any information would surely help

My husband's grandfather was Stefan George Kovac born in Miava, Slovakia in 1884 and came to US in 1903 also. He had a brother Paul and John and sisters Susan and Elizabeth. His parents were Stefan Kovac and Anna Malek. I am finding that the same first names were used consistently. They were Evangelical Lutherans.

Paul J. Kovac, 66, of 43 E. High St., Coaldale, died Friday in Coaldale Hospital after a lengthy illness. His wife, Lucy (Sabarin) Kovac, died in 1980. He was a car salesman for the former Kovich Chevrolet Co., Tamaqua, until he became ill. Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Stephen and Anna (Harakal) Kovac. He was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Coaldale. Kovac was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Jim Thorpe and Gregory, at home; a brother, Martin Kovich of Nesquehoning; four sisters, Mrs. Susan Buban of Iselin, N.J.; Mrs. Rose Julo and Margaret, wife of Ignace Vandack, both of Coaldale, and Wilma, wife of Stephen Pisklak of New Brunswick, N.J., and three grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Monday in the August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in the church. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday.

I am researching a Kovac line which resided in the 1920's in the Crawford County, Pa area. My grandparents were Stephen and Elizabeth Kovac. City directories show that there was a Peter Kovac who resided with them and passed away in March of 1933. I can find no record of this gentleman. I do know their previous location of residentcy was in Duquene Pa. Can we follow thru together on this Peter Kovac? I know this isn't much to go on, but have found that this line of Kovac's are very quiet and private. I have had a lot of problems locating information.

because of the change. His ancestors came from the same area,

Looking for information on my great-great grandmother. Katalin (Katharine) KOVAC who was born in 1891 in Temesvar, Hungary and passed away on 19 Jan 1968 in Eau Claire, WI She was buried on 22 Jan 1968 at Sacred Heart Cemetary in Eau Claire. She married Julius BORONDI on 27 Nov 1891 in Hungary. I heard at one point that her father's name was Peter KOVAC. She had one sister Barbara who married Josef SCHEMBERA, and two half siblings (same mother)...John ANKNER and KRISTIN ANKER (married ORDMAN from Argentina). Any additional information would be appreciated.

Your information matches our records! From who you say is Stefan George Kovac is who we believe is to be the sister of Anna Kovac (my great grandmother). From what we know Anna had three brothers Dan, Stephen, Paul, and two sisters Susan and Elizabeth. Anna came from Myjava, Czechoslovakia at the turn of the century through Ellis Island. She married Stephen Majtan, also from Myjava, in. She had three children, Stephen, John, and Elizabeth (my grandmother) and resided in Little Rock, NY. Am looking for info on Mike Kovac who worked in coal mines in east central Illinois (Bunsenville/Westville/Catlin/Georgetown/Danville area) in 1920. Supposedly came to work in mines and was going to send for family to join him at later date.
