Paul Kowalczyk Paul Kowalczyk, 70, a resident of the Erie area most of his life, died on Monday morning September 29, 2008 at his Millcreek Township home following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on August 21, 1938 a son of the late Stanley and Stella Warda Kowalczyk. He was a 1955 graduate of Harbor Creek High School. Paul had served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired in 1975. He then worked as a maintenance millwright for 20 years at the Uniflow Manufacturing Co. in Erie and then was a security guard at TEMCO Electric Materials Co. in North East. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the US Navy Fleet Reserve, American Legion Carl Neff Post #571, and enjoyed gardening and watching sports. Survivors include his wife of 40 years Rose Mary “RMK” Doyle Kowalczyk; a daughter, Kimberly Ann “Kim” Kowalczyk of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; a brother, Frederick “Fred” Kowalczyk and his wife Barbara of Harborcreek; two sisters, Betty Wilson of Syracuse, N.Y. and Dolores Carey and her husband Ken of Portsmouth, Va,; two sister in laws, June Vash and her husband Charles of Erie and Carol Doyle of Felton, Del.; an aunt, Jennie Zdunski of Erie; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Kristen Ann in 1976 and two brother in laws, Jack Doyle and Don Wilson. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt &Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. &Pine Ave., Wednesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p..m. and are invited to prayer services there on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors by Carl Neff Post #571 will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
