I am still looking for information about the Kranz family. I traveled to LaJunta CO about 4 years ago and tried to find information on them. There are a few pictures of the men in a plank making shop. My great grand mother was Nona Melissa. I tried to find family but was unable to locate anyone when I was there. I did find thier home and a neighbor thought that they still owned the home but the owner was in a nursinghome. I know that my grandfather said that his mother's family was from Germany and that she was born in Wisconsin. My grandfather also said that his grandfather was a "jewler by trade" but he wanted adventure and wanted to farm.
I was not aware of where they came from in Germany.

Kranz - from STOLP Pommerania to Ohio

My g grandfather August Kranz married my g grandmother Ottelia Buhrandt in STOLP Pommerania. They came to the US in 1882 from Bremen via Southhampton and made their way to Toledo,Oh. Their children were Minnie, Otto(my gf),Augusta, Karl, Ida, Ed, August, & Bill; all of whom lived & died in the Toledo area. I am seeking any info you might have on this Kranz family. Family lore says my gggf was also named August & he was married multiple times; once to an Augusta (possibly Kraft) and also to a Henrietta Dienard. I also know little about the Buhrandts. Can anyone help? My g aunt told me that she was born in Slupsk which later became Stolp. I also know when August Kranz came to the US, he travelled with a John Kranz and Bertha Kranz who I assume were his siblings (they also settled in Toledo). JRM

KRANZ in Danbury, Connecticut 1880s-?

Looking for anyone who might recognize this family:

Richard Kranz b. 1861 Germany
m. Polina abt 1883 presumably Connecticut, she b. 1862 Germany
son Charles b. 1884 CT
son Adolph b. 1885 CT
son George b. 1887 CT
dau Jennie b. 1893 CT

They only appear as a "complete" family on the 1900 census in Danbury CT. In 1910, Charles and Jennie are living with aunt and uncle John and Amalie Wagner in Danbury. Did the rest of them die? What was Polina's maiden name?

Charles shows up in 1918 on a WWI draft card as Charles Max Kranz and had tuberculosis. He stated that Otto Richard Kranz of Danbury was his closest relative. Who was Otto? A brother? A first cousin? Otto was a little more than a year younger than Charles and lived across the street.

In 1920 Charles is in the State Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Newington and not to be found in 1930 so I presume he died, unmarried and without issue.

I'd love to hear from you if you have any thoughts about these people. I'm trying to figure out the connection between the Kranz's and the Wagners. Polina is the key, she should have been a sister to either John or Amalie.

Robin in Short Pump

I'm not sure of any connection. I have found that the original spelling of her name was "Krans" and was changed to "Kranz" in America. I have also found siblings of Emma Krans, none of which came to the US as far as I know. She came in 1882 to the Minneapolis area. I don't really think there is a connection.

They had at least one child before his early death in 1907, but Therese probably remarried & raised any children under another name. Does this family connect at all with your Sika line?
