ONEONTA — Mary Krawitz, 94, died in her sleep on Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
Mary was born in Kiev, Russia, on May 23, 1904, the daughter of Samuel and Natalie (Brenner) Tepfer.
She came to the United States in 1906. Mary married Jacob "Jack" Krawitz on Oct. 26, 1921, in Brooklyn. They were married for 41 years until Jacob's death in 1962.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Rena Messer of Oneonta, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Stanley and Joan Krawitz of Long Island. She is survived by five grandchildren, Jonathan Messer, Elizabeth Brown, Deborah Levy, and Alan and Spencer Krawitz; and six great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Rachel Messer, Adam and Chelsea Brown, and Deanna and Adam Levy.
Mary was predeceased by her four brothers, a sister, and her son-in-law, Alexander Messer, of whom she was very fond.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Queens, on Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at 11 a.m. Rabbi Donald Neil Roberts of Temple Beth-El of Oneonta will officiate.
Expressions of sympathy in Mary's name may be made to the Temple Beth-El building fund.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.
