These 2 Barbara Krebs are in my family. One was married to Adam Krebs and the other was the daughter of Adam and Barbara Krebs. The younger Barbara Krebs eventually lived her life in Carlyle, IL. Also there is an error in my first posting. Adam Krebs came to the USA in 1838 and NOT 1938. I believe I know your family but would like to be in contact with you since I have additional info on the family

Thanks Pamela, you are right, Remy Krebs (1825-1907) was the son of Blaise Krebs and Therese Rouff, and not of Nicolas and Rosine as I said... So Remy was the brother of my ancestor Jean Krebs (1821-1892).
Pedro Jarque Krebs
pjarque@gmail.com
I am a descendant of Jean Krebs (Achen, France 1821) son of Blaise Krebs and Therese Rouff; Jean he was the nephew of Nicholas Krebs (Achen 1789-1860) and Rosina Freyermuth. I know that Nicholas and Rosine emigrated to the USA, with their son Remy Krebs (1825-1907) Nicholas and Rosine died in North Collins. Remy Krebs died in New Washington Crawford Co Ohio.
I don't know if you are from the same family. If it is the case, I would be glad to share information with you.

Pedro Jarque Krebs
pjarque@gmail.com
My information on Barbara is this:

Name: Barbara FRY
Sex: F
Birth: 1814 in Strassburg or Wissembourgh, Alsace, Germany/France
Death: 1893 in Wisconsin
Burial: Nepeuskun/Koro Cemetery, Winnebago Co., WI Sec 3, Row 4

Father: Martin FRY b: 1785 in Alsace, Germany
Mother: BARBARA b: ABT. 1782 in Alsace , Germany

Marriage 1 Louis KREBS b: 25 NOV 1813 in Alsace, Germany/France
Married: 1836 in Attica, Genesee Co., NY
Children
Martin Andrew KREBS b: 5 OCT 1837 in Attica, Orangeville twp, Wyoming County, NY
Maria Ann KREBS b: MAR 1839 in Attica, Orangeville twp, Wyoming County, NY
Lewis J. KREBS b: ABT. 1841 in Orangeville, Wyoming/ Genesee Co., NY
William KREBS b: 1844
Caroline KREBS b: 1845 in Wisconsin, USA
Susan KREBS b: 1850
George KREBS b: 28 FEB 1853
Sarah A. KREBS b: MAY 1855 in WI

Do you know where in NY your Philip was living in 1832? The FRYs came to the US (Attica NY) from Germany (Alsace Region) in 1829/30. I haven't found the ship transcript, but there are biographical stories that suggest those dates. Do you have the parents of your FRY line? I suspect if they are the same family they may be cousins, unless you can somehow tie into Barbara Jr.'s father Martin:

Name: Martin FRY
Sex: M
Birth: 1785 in Alsace, Germany
Death: BEF. 1862 in Richfield, Washington Co. WI
Event: Moved 1842 To Germantown, Richfield twp., Washington co., Wisconsin
Immigration: 1829 From Alsace Region to Attica, Orangeville twp., Wyoming Co., New York

Marriage 1 BARBARA b: ABT. 1782 in Alsace , Germany
Married: BEF. 1814 in Alsace, France/Germany
Children
Barbara FRY b: 1814 in Strassburg or Wissembourgh, Alsace, Germany/France
Martin FRY b: 1825 in Strassburg, Alsace, Germany/France
George Henry Sr. FRY b: 7 JAN 1826 in Wissembourgh , Germany

My tree is online here: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

IF the region in Germany/France (depending on the year) is the same, perhaps we have a connection. The surnames are very common, but if they lived in the same areas in different states then that suggests they may be related, perhaps a generation or so back.

Please let me know if you see any connections that look promising. Unfortunately I haven't had any success in finding German records to continue the line back from Martin and Barbara Sr.

Lottie

I know it's a stretch, but do you have any info on Barbara Fry. Philip, Balthazar, Johann Adam and Heinriech Frey were all brothers. They came to America at all different times, but settled in Germantown, Richfield and Hartford Wisconsin. All in Washington county. Philip was living in NY in 1832. I am not sure when he arrived. They all had a sister named Barbara born around 1820. Is there a chance she is the same Barbara Fry in your line.

Thank you

Hesse Darmstadt wasn't where the Krebs were from, I think that was Strausburg or another town near there. It's late though...and I have already made one mistake.
Jesica,

I believe your line is different from this KREBS line. Michael Aquilin (Lenas) KREBS (from your online tree) is not, as far as I was ever able to discern, related to Lewis KREBS. They DID live in the same county, but not the same township. When I first came across your line I thought they *had* to be related, but they originated in two different parts of Germany (Hesse Darmstadt and Rothausen).

Lottie

I am related to all the Krebs in Washington county Wisconsin. I am pretty sure your Krebs line is related to mine. My family came to New York in 1840 and 1843. They then traveled to Wisconsin in 1844. Your Lewis Krebs was in New York until 1844 then came to Wisconsin. I do you know more about Lewis/Louis Krebs. Aquilenas was a common Krebs name they went by Lenas Linas Linus. I found at times it also written as Louis and Lewis.

He was Catholic and there are lots of Krebs descended from him.

Bob Krebs
rnkrebs@wcnet.org

In researching my family in old Hungarian church records, I find the name Krebsz. Later on that same person will be listed as Krepsz. In one instance a marriage listed one participant as Krebsz and the other as Krepsz. Sometimes one of these names will appear without the following 'z.' Would someone more familiar with this name help me out and tell me if there is a correct version, if they are two completely different names and the person records the event misspelled the name of what? Thank you.

Hi John,

If you would like I can add you to my private family site. Lots of your family history on there. My great-grandmother was a sister to Luella Bezler who married John Charles Yenter. I do not have too much on the Yenter line, but the Krebs, Fry and Belzer lines are quite detailed. Includes lots of photos too.

I believe she married Henry Grove also born 1788.

Can anyone who tell me where to find the book, or if you have access to it, whether above Elizabeth Krebs is listed?

He was born about 1727 and was married to Maria Zollinger, born in the same town about 1729. I am just starting research on this family but I am interested in sharing the information I have. The Zimmerman name is also associated with this family. I need to do more research to find how it fits in.

I have also posted them on the Nebraska gravestones website: http://nebraskagravestones.org

I'm sure everybody else out there is aware, but I just discovered that if you replace the name "nebraska" with a different state in the URL mentioned above, there is likely a site just like the Nebraska one. I have added info on Colorado and have looked up info on Iowa and Pennsylvania.

Young Krebs was cutting timber on the Jim Hanna place, three miles south of this town, when a tree fell unexpectedly hitting him across the back.
