Hi,

I am not certain about this but I was always told this story:

Three Kreider brother came over in the early 19th century from northern Germany. Two settled up North in the Penn area (Amish descendents?) and one brother came down South to New Orleans.

I have no idea if that is true, but my grandmother(Alma Jergens Kreider; wife of Everette Francis Kreider Sr.) who was born in the 1890's told me this story many times.

...Sorry lightning stike knocked out my computer.

Here's the missing part of my post:

During the Depression...

my grandfather Everette and grandmother Alma Jergens Kreider had moved next door to her parents William Jergens and Lousiana Mac Auley Jergens. Granddaddy drove a laundry truck until the ecomony improved. They moved out to Morgan City/Lafayette area for a bit. I know that Grandaddy was a salesman and I think that he sold typewriters or adding machines. (I'll ask Dad more about the details if anyone wants to know) When my father was about 8ish, Granddaddy moved Grandma, Aunt Alma and Daddy (Everette Jr.) to Temple Texas. My dad graduated high school in Temple and went on to the University of Texas. He graduated from Baylor Medical school and practiced medicine as an anesthesiologist until 1998.

Granddaddy and Grandma lived in Texas for a while but moved to St. Petersburg Florida to be near my father in the late 60's.

Granddaddy did when I was little: around 1974/5 from a massive heart attack and is buried at Calvary Cemetary in St. Petersburg, Florida. Grandma (Alma Jergens) died in 1997 at 102 in St. Petersburg. She is buried next to my grandfather.

Aunt Alma died from cancer in 1991 in San Antonio. I may be off on this by a year--sorry.

Hope this helps!!

I think that I can help a bit more with this.

My grandfather is Everette (note the spelling)Francis Kreider. By the way your post was a bit incorrect, Granddaddy only lived in Morgan City for a short time. During the depression, they had moved

He married Alma Jergens also of New Orleans

They had 2 Children:

Alma

Everette Francis Kreider Jr. 1928(this is my father who is still living) Dad is marrier to my mother: Alice Edwards Kreider

There are 7 kids:

1. Beth Ann

2. Everette Francis III

3. Paul William Kreider

4. Joseph Patrick Kreider

5. John Kreider

6. Tracey Lynne Kreider Hempel (me)

7. Keith Michael

I never met Aunt Lydie and Aunt Laura--they died back in the 70's but my parents tell me stories about them--they were really New Orleans Belles. My Uncle Emile died before I was born but I know that he married Aunt Euna (my spelling might be off) of whom I met when I was a kid. She had some cajun in her which my grandmother and my dad told me that caused a bit of a scandel within the family when they first were married.
Thank you for posting that information. It helped fill in a few blanks in our family tree. Earl Kreider was the brother of Irma Sarah Kreider Hoffmann (W.F. Hoffmann), born in Annville, PA Dec. 1, 1872. Irma Sarah Kreider, daughter of Onesimus and Alice (?) Kreider, was my husband's great-grandmother.

Susannah Kreider married to John or Jacob Landis

I am trying to find out about my ancestor, Joseph Kreider Landis, his parents, siblings, dates of birth, places of birth, dates and places of death. I believe he was born in Pennsylvania, but am not sure. Probably in Lancaster County.

He went to Flat Rock, Seneca County, Ohio, married Mary L. Mook, and had three daughters: Minnie Escalila, Leota, and Ada. The last census I find Joseph is on the 1870 for Ohio. In the 1880 census, he is not there, but it has Mary as head of household married. Possibly he disappeared and was not believed dead, is why Mary is considered married, even though she is the head of household.

Does anybody out there have any of these people in their background? I'd like to be able to prove my connection to Joseph and his parents, so I can go back farther in my family tree.

Please contact me at almenami13@aol.com, so we can compare notes, if possible. Or contact me, if you can lead me to the proper resources. Thank you in advance for any help you can send my way.

My great, great, great Grandfather was Edward D. Krider, born in 1822 in Reading, PA, lived and died in Montgomery County, Ohio in 1875. His parents were John and Ellen Krider. He married Elizabeth Randall (or Randale) who was born in 1824 and died in 1895. Edward and Elizabeth married in 1845 in Montgomery County, Ohio. Looking for any siblings of Edward and/or Elizabeth or any information on his parents John and Ellen. They probably were born around 1799 or so. Spellings of our last name are Kreider, Krider, Kryder. Any info on Randalls would be great also. Edward and Elizabeth had three children, John Augustus Krider, Charles Franklin Krider, and Emma Matilda Krider, all in Ohio. Thank you. Jason Kreider

Death of D. S. Kreider, his wife and four daughters murdered

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 14 July 1893 ...

Thirsted for Blood

A Farmer, His Wife and Four Little Girls Murdered

Devil's Lake, North Dakota, July 7 - D. S. Kreider, a farmer living within a mile of Cando, Towner County, his wife and four little daughters were brutally murdered at their home this morning by Albert Baumberger, a nephew of Kreider, whom he had been employing at farm work. Baumberger went direct to Kreider's room and shot him dead. Then he went to the kitchen where Mrs, Kreider was preparing breakfast and shot her in the head. He then went upstairs where the four little children fled and deliberately shot away with a shotgun until he killed them all. Baumberger returned to the kitchen, took a potato knife from Mrs, Kreider's hand and nearly severed her head from her body and taking the knife proceeded upstairs and finding the poor little girl yet alive held her in his arms and cut her throat. Baumberger finding the eldest one, was preparing to murder her when he remembered he had no had his breakfast. He ordered the girl to cook him some meat and potatoes, which she did. With one foot resting on the head of the murdered mother, he ate his breakfast and then he pulled out his watch and said: "Well, I did that job inside of thirty minutes."

His immediate thirst for blood appeased, he took his little niece and carried her to the barn, tied her firmly with a rope and returned to the house where he searched until he found all the valuables the family possessed then fled.

I am trying to establish parents for a Susan or Susannah Kreider/Krider born in Lancaster county, PA, probably Lampeter township, who married Jacob Miller also of said area. I believe that she was b. Aug 1766 and he Feb 1763(according to burial records) and they married in the late 1780's before moving to Leitersburg, Washington county, MD a few years later. They were both Mennonite and he may have been a leader in the church as they are buried in Miller's Mennonite cemetery in Leitersburg, MD.

I found reference to a Susannah, who married a Jacob Miller on a website who was the daughter of Tobias Kreyter(another spelling variant) and Ann Landis Buckwalter. However the DOB's did not match, but the website had just a general year.

I do beleive this could be the correct parents as this couples first son was named Tobias and was born abt the same year the Tobias above would have died(1791)

Does anyone have information that would support this?

Scott

Jonas M. KREIDER, 1910, Hale Co., TX

Looking for descendants of Jonas M. Kreider, Mennonite minister who lived in the "Snyder Community" south of Plainview, TX. On 1910 census for that location, he and his wife Catherine are both 52yo and were born in Ohio. Catherine had five children, but only sixteen-year-old daughter Ida lived with them in 1910. (I believe she married David HARTZLER, son of Joseph K. and Mary GINGERICH.) Son Milo married Maude SNYDER in Hale Co. in 1910, but died later the same year. Possibly another son was named Lloyd.

I am developing a web site about the Snyder Community, to mark its centennial in 2007. Looking for photos, family stories, etc., for the Jonas M. Kreider family, 1907-1925.

Michael Kreider - b.1805 d.1883

I'm looking for the ancestors of Michael Kreider, born 4 Oct 1805 and died 20 Jan 1883. He married Sarah Hull (or Holl), born 7 Jun 1817 and died 3 Jun 1891. I've seen various other spellings of Michael's last name which include Krider and Grider. Their children were: Amanda Kreider (b.1847), Emanuel H Kreider (b.1850 d.1937), Mary Kreider (b.1852), Anna H. Kreider (b.1857) and Ellen (Ella) Kreider (b.1863).

Re: Kreider: Elkhart, Indiana

Hi, I don't have Frank in my tree but I too am researching Kreiders in Elkhart Co., Indiana during the same time frame. Mine are Newton Kreider m: Anna Getz. They would have just started their family about the time your Frank was born. Their children are Maud, Norman, Lloyd, Cora, Edith, Adam, & Ella. I'll keep my eyes open for your names as there is a good chance we have mutual people. Let me know if any of mine ring a bell. Good luck searching!!

Re: Kreider - Ansalvish of Maryland

Frank and Jesse Ansalvish were my grandmother Cora Ansalvish Campbell's older brothers. She also had another older brother named John and a younger one named Will. There were three sisters who suvived to adulthood, Rose (who died around the age of 26), Nora (Eleanora), and Emma. Alice, the oldest child, died very early (about 1-1/2, I think). I have information about their mother, Mary Jane Toft, daughter of James and Leah (Waller). I have been able to learn absolutely nothing about their father, Emanuel Ansalvish, who was apparently born in Cuba. Do you have any information about him? Anything would be most appreciated.
