Hi Back Cousin!

Yes, that Mexican lady is my Mom, and she is still in St.Petersburg, as am I. The house you came to was our house on Bayview Pl. on Snell Isle. I may have been in Mexico visiting my cousins at the time.

Yes, please send me any other info you can; My regular e-mail address is fkrogh@tampabay.rr.com, and my cell is 727.403.6160.

A little extra info: I married a girl from Wheeling W. Va. As my Dad had been gone since 81', I had forgotten that my Grandfather had migrated and lived in Wheeling, and that my Grandmother Carrie, was born there. With the internet I eventually realized that, and also, that my grandparents had lived about three blocks from my Wife's family on Wheeling Island!

Please stay in touch!

Cousin Frank

 Hi Cousin,

It was good to hear from you. I will ask a couple of my Anuts about when the family arrived in Philadelphia, I know that your father and Uncle Rand ran Krogh 5 and 10 stores. I also know that my grandfather owned Krogh Pharmacy on the corner of 51st and Balitamore. I have all of Uncle Rands family on file, the only things I know of Uncle Harold is that he was married four times and ran the store. I do remember being to his house in St Pete once when the family went to Miami. He had a Mexacan wife at that time I thing and she good very well. I would be more then happy to exchange any information with you.

Charles Browne

Then the family went to Philadelphia, he had three sons: Karl, Harold and Ransley, Harold moved to St, Pete FL at some point where he passed away. Also Deltf had two girls, Violette and Grayce. Any of that sound familar?
Charles Browne
I am not sure if I am an ancestor of the same Krogh family or not. My mother recently passed and I have received some family information from her cousin that has me interested in my ancestory.

My grand mother, Verna Krohg, had 13 siblings and the family was very involved in WWII. I know that the family settled into North Dakota after taking the boat from Norway. My great grandmother farmed in ND for 23 years prior to becoming a sandblaster in the Engine Repair section during the war. Some of her children also served. Their names are as follows; Verna, Donna, Murle, Violet, Shirley, Lillian, Arley, Gwendollyn, Kenneth, Maneard, Leo, Edna, Zane, and Ila. Her husband's name was Ed Krogh. Do you recognize any of these names? My mother's maiden name was Terrie Byrum, daughter of Verna Krogh.

Thank you for the information you have posted on Jens/James' parents and grandparents.

I noticed you started this thread some years ago ~ any progress since then?

I was just looking in Rootsweb.com and if you search for Ferdinand Krogh you'll note one with a wife named Olga who might well be your man. I don't recognise them. As you know, with Norwegian names such as Christiansson or any name ending in "son" it is a patronymic [father's given name] and hard to trace. Krogh is basically an "upper class" name passed on to family. Norway didn't require everyone to use such surnames until about 1922.

Someone named Krogh from Røros is probably related to a family group including Irgens, Christie and the descendants of Jacob Madson Krogh b. 1672 in Trondheim, married Maren Flør thus related to the people involved in the copper mines at Røros. Various members immigrated to the USA.

From the Sherburn Advance-Standard, Sherburn, Martin County Minnesota
Typed just as it appeared in the original newspaper including any/all typos.
Dated Thursday, July 9, 1925

Husband And Child Suffer Sad Bereavement

The community sympathizes with Ole Krogh in the loss of his wife who passed away early Friday morning, July 3, after an illness of about seven weeks. Mrs Krogh became a mother about seven weeks ago and failed to recover from the ordeal. The little daughter, besides the husband, survive.

The funeral occurred Monday at 12 o’clock from the German Lutheran church, Rev. Neunaber officiating. The main services were held in the North Belmont Norwegian Lutheran church in Jackson county of which deceased was a member. There was a large attendance at both services. Burial was made in North Belmont church cemetery.
Mrs. Krogh moved to Sherburn with her husband about two years ago. She was a young woman of fine Christian qualities. Her passing from life at a time her greatest usefulness as a wife and mother is an irreparable loss to the bereaved husband and child.

~Volunteer Posting.

Thanks for responding Kris. All I know is that Nis Peter Krogh of New Brunswick, NY (outside Troy) was married to Johanna(h) Kronbo(e)rg. I don't know when they were married, but according to the 1920 Census they were still married then. They had 7 children. I have a copy of the Social Security application from one of their daughters, Christine Marie. Johanna was her mother, and in the 1920 census, Christine was 15. Johanna was 51 and Peter 52. Their oldest son was 27. I will ask my aunt, who still lives in Troy, if she ever heard of Kristina or Magdalena. I know my great-great grandfather was also a Peter (Niels Petersen) Krogh, but he was a widower in the 1920 census. I never heard that he remarried, and he was 63 years old in the 1920 census. I will also ask my aunt about that. I hope that this Johanna is Kristina's sister because you have given me information on their parents/family. I really haven't done much investigating/research into the Kronborg side yet. I have been concentrating on Niels and Nis, but it is difficult to find out much about their familiy in Schleswig-Holstein. I will let you know as soon as I can get information from my aunt. Maybe together we can figure this out!

My great-aunt, Kristina Kronberg, married Peter Krogh in or near Troy, NY after 1899, which is the death date of her first husband, William Kline. Kristina had two sisters that I know of, Magdalena and Hannah Kronberg. I'm not sure of their dates of birth, but I believe Hannah was younger than Kristina. They were the children of Nis Jorgenson Kronberg and Anna, and were born in Denmark. I have pictures of these women, but not much else. My great-grandfather, George Peterson Kronberg, was their brother.

I am looking for information about Ingeleiv Lassesd Hynjum/Honjum who came from near Laerdal, Norway, in 1878 and married a Christen Krogh in Minneapolis. According to the 1990 Laerdal Bygdebok, they had 2 children. Her sister Anna came at the same time and married a Samuel Halverson/Hallvardson, Glen, Minnesota. They had 3 children. Their older half sister, also Anna came to the US in 1861 and settled in Ferryville, Wis. She married Ole Severson - and is my husband's gggrandmother. I would love to fill in this family tree and perhaps meet some new "cousins".
