Trying to track down Germany connection to Krois or Kroiss. Theresa Karl born Apr 1843 in Germany (per death certificate and census), married Michael/Johannes Krois, she came over to US about 1882 (without Michael) with children Theresa, Michael, Anna, Frank, Mary and Charles, married Felix Lang at St Nicholas Church in St. Louis MO (as Theresa Kruisz) in Oct 1882.

The script (signature) of the bride on marriage application to Felix Lang is clearly German style saying "Theres Kroiß" [the letter "ß" (similar to a Greek beta) is used in German-speaking countries for "ss" or "sz"].

I'm told the Hungarian name "Kruisz" is pronounced "Krois" in German. Apparently, Theresa was aware of the difficulties in spelling, therefore she used "Kroiß" as her signature, most probably already before she emigrated from Germany to America. Because she still used the old German script we can assume that she may have come to the U.S. only shortly before, about 1882.

Charles Krois (her son) is my grandfather. Theresa Lang (Krois, Karl) died in St. Louis in Jul 1919 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. I have a pretty good tracking of her and family after coming to America, it's the before in Germany that I have little.

So, can anyone help me with Michael Krois(s) and Germany connection, when and where died?, where from?, when married? Anyone related to Michael Krois(s) who apparently died in Germany? Any connection via the Karl name?
