I am a Krol/Krul whose last name was also changed when the family came over (from what I was told, someone at Ellis Island forgot to close the "o" all the way.) I am descendant of John Krol, whose name became Krul, who settled in Dubois, PA. John came over with a brother, whose name I do not know. John had sons, Walter, Bruno, and my grandfather, John, those that I know of. John (the son) relocated to Niagara Falls, NY and married Joanna Golanka.
