Deb, please email me if you are still on this board/ancestry. I may be able to help. I've found some things on the Krom's in my line and I think we have a direct connection. I also found a great resource that you may not know about.

I tried to reply earlier but my post does not seem to have been delivered. If you are interested, I would be happy to share what information that I have. I don't have much on Nelson's siblings, as my line descends from his half-brother Jacob. Have you checked the records for land transfers from the Ashokan Reservoir purchases? There is a plat of Martin's property.

I have Sarah, married to John Schmidt but nothing later than that. Did they live in Ulster Co? Clement married, Cora Beadle and they had 5 children: Byron, Elvin, Tallman (my father), Janet, Martha and Elsie (she died shortly after being born). The family lived in Clovesville and Fleischmanns. My dad moved to Syracuse in the 1930's and stayed there until he died in 1976.
I would be interested in hearing about your side of the family. If you have specific questions, please let me know. I'll do my best to help.

It's been a long time since I posted that request. Thanks for the information but I think the dates for Martin are a little off. Clement, my grandfather, was born 5/22/1877, died 3/21/1934. He is buried in the Clovesville Cemetery.

How do you fit into the Krom family? The only living relative that I still have on this side of the family, that I know of, is my Aunt Martha. She still lives in Arkville at 94 years old.

I would be happy to share anything that I have that would be of interest.

Somehow these dates don't jibe. You have her married before she was born. There was a Lydia Crom b 1726 in Kingston d. of Dirk Crom &n Eva De La Montagne. I have nothing on a marriage for her. She had a brother cornelius b 1711. Most of the Krom/Croms that I have seen came to the Ulster Co area from Holland. Wish I could be more help.
Barb

Don't have much info on Clarence Krom beyond his name. Found that in the Pearson genealogy my husband's (it's his line) relative had written in the 1950s. I'll look through the material and see if there are any other clues...keep in touch, my e-mail address is dpearson@uninet.com.cn.

I am looking for the family of Estelle ( Stella ) Vandermark Quick. She was listed with Edward and Delia on the family tree here. She married Charles Quick s/o Dewitt & Anna Quick from Rochester Ulster Co area. Stella was born around 1895. She died around 1934. She would have been my gr grandmother. Any lines and help on either one of these families. They seem to have been together in the family lines quite often.

I have a note from a review of the 1920 Ulster Co. Marbletown census that gives a Mary E. Krom (b. 1857 by calculation) who could have been 12 in 1870. The 1915 census showed her on Main St. Her children in 1920 were Miriam (40), Kate (37), Bernice (?) (1885), Alice (40), and Helen (26).

I just purchased the Krom genealogy the last time I went to the Ulster Co. Genealogical Society.

Rebecca Krom was born 11 Feb 1799, baptized 3 Mar 1799 at the Marbletown RDC,
Her parents were Cornelius Krom and Barbara Davis. They were married Marbletown (date not given here).
Cornelius bt 26 March 1754 Marbletown, son of Jan Krom and Rebecca Bogart.
Barbara bt 5 Dec 1763 Marbletown, daughter of Jacobus S. Davis and Elizabeth Bos (Bush).
There were 5 other children besides Rebecca:
John
Elizabeth
Jacobus
Henry
Cornelius

I have baptism dates and spouses for the siblings if you want them.
Cornelius Krom, Rebecca's father, served in the Rev. War and rec'd a pension. His will is on file.

Lots of info is available about this branch of the Krom family.

Gretchen
(also a Krom descendant)

Hi, Donna

Looks like I can help you. I have Quick and Krom ancestors in Ulster County too. I also have a good friend who is not descended from the Quicks, but he has taken a special interest in this family. He sent me his database, and I found Stella Mae Vandermark, daughter of Delia Krom (or Krum) and Edward/Edgar Vandemark. A check of the Vandemark genealogy shows that Edward was the son of Solomon Vandemark and Margaret Bush.

Delia Krom may have been the daughter of William Krom and Catherine ??. There is a Sarah Delia Krom in the 1860 census who is exactly the same age as Stella'a grandmother in the 1900 census (where Catherine Krom is the mother-in-law in the household of Edgar Vandemark). 1860 census is Marbletown and 1900 census is Rosendale.

Stella Mae was married in 1915 (license applied for on 9/10/1915) to Charles David Quick, b. Nov 1891. He was the son of Dewitt C. Quick and Anna M. Burger. I can give you more if you are interested. The old families of Ulster County have been studied extensively.

There should also be death certificates available for many of these folks..

Gretchen
