I am also researching this family and in particular a Jakub or Jacob Kronenberg who would have immigrated to the UK, to London, in the early part of the century with his wife, my great aunt, Genia Kronenberg. My mother had the last known address to be Maida Vale London.
Leopold Kronenberg was the head of the Banking family and I have found some information on him in Polish.
I know my UK relatives changed their surname to something like Crosby.
If we could help each other it might be helpful.
Sincerely,
Basia Paczynski Lejonvarn
London

Hi Brooke. I was just killing time at work and decided to do a google search, which brought up your thread. My father, Norman Kronenberg's father was Sidney Kronenberg, whose parents were Max and Anna (Sherman) Kronenberg. She also had another last name of Ginendel-maybe she was married twice. Both my father-in-law and my father have seperate websites detailing our tree. Anna's siblings are shown as Samuel, Henry, Minnie, Pauline, Bessie, Elizabeth, Max (my great grandfather), Lillia, and Harry Kronenberg. Thought this might be of interest to you. It's interesting to me however very hard to follow. Hope this helps

David Kronenberg

Michelle, I would like to exchange tree material with you. I did not remember your mother's name before, but remember Elbie mentioning it now. ( I felt gypped with only 1 first cousin). Never knew about Doug. ERK's son Mark is now legally blind; I visited him abt Jan '07 at his cottage at Lake. I wish I lived closer than the 165 miles.
My 1 day visits to Hawaii in 1954 and '56 were too brief.
I do not put info for living on wc.rootsweb.com but did post the two deaths as a post-em to George E. K.... (Kronenberg NOT spelled out)
Will get it on with next update. I did find Elbie with a Google search a month or so after his death.
Was Phyllis b about 1943?
Jay
Pls use e-mail: julianpotts@aol.com

Hi,

Thank you so much for posting. It is so exciting to talk to people who know our family. Lola was my grandmother. My uncle, Lola's son, Doug, lives in Long Valley. Lola had a daughter, Phyllis, who was my mother, who has passed away. Lola passed away as well.

I have been to Lake Hopatcong, and was fortunate enough to meet Elbie right before he passed. He has 2 sons, who I haven't had the chance to meet, but they are on here as well.

We have some great old photos of Lake Hopatcong; I will post some in the next few days of my grandma, Lola, back then. I also have some more family tree info that I'll post as well (It's 11 pm, so I have to get to bed.) I hope you'll post again.

Take care,
Michelle

I met son George Rudolph Kronenberg (b 4 May 1879) and his wife when I was a child at their cottage on Lake Hopatcong; he had store behind up on road. Met Lola once abt 1941 or so. Only have info on her brother G.E.K. (1900-1957). He worked at arsenel in NJ and Va. Married Helena Bergen Potts. One son "Elbie" in NJ, now deceased, was my cousin. In early 1930's, we were neighbors in Morristown NJ. Please tell me about Lola.

Kronenberg from NW New Jersey

Hello,

I am looking for information about Kronenbergs from northwest New Jersey..

My great-great grandfather was George Kronenberg, born in 1851. His mother and father were from Prussia from what we can tell from census records.

He married an Elizabeth Waller/Walley? born in 1865. Her father was from Prussia and her mother from Switzerland, I believe. They had 2 sons- Joseph (born 1878) and George Rudolph (my great-grandfather).

George Rudolph Kronenberg, born May 1879, possibly in Brookside, NJ- married Blanche Louise Haughwout from Califon, NJ. They lived in Mt. Arlington, NJ and Lake Hopatcong, NJ.

They had 2 children, Lola Mary and George Elbridge Kronenberg.

If this rings any bells, any information would be appreciated.

KRONENBERG- Jewish family from Warsaw (probably connected to the banking family)

I'm researching my KRONENBERG roots. My maternal grandmother's maternal grandmother was Anna KRONENBERG EISENBERG. Her mother was Leah [unknown maiden name] and her father's last name [first name unknown] was KRONENBERG.

Anna had, we think, four siblings: Max, Bessie, Pauline, and Samuel. Extrapolating from Anna's daughter's birth certificate, Anna was born circa 1879 in "Russia" (but family legend says Warsaw, Poland). She married Phillip H. EISENBERG, born circa 1878, died circa 1907.

Does anyone know a good source of info. on the prominent Warsaw KRONENBERG family? We're almost definitely related- Anna used to tell her daughter (my great-grandmother) that she used to play with some of the Russian royal family as a child (!). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

- Brooke Schreier

Hi-

I, too, am researching the Kronenberg family, although I don't recognize the people listed in your post. I just wanted to point out to you that "Gracow, Poland" is most likely really the city of *Krakow* (Cracow), Poland, and that you might want to try looking at some of the Polish databases at websites like jewishgen.org for more information on the city. In particular, take a look at the JRI-Poland database at http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/ to do a search of their extensive online birth/marriage/death records from Krakow and elsewhere.

Hope this helps!

- Brooke Schreier

Dear Marjorie:

Thank you for responding to my message. My husband is Richard E. Kronenberg. Edward Kronenberg and Amelia (Emily Bloch) were the parents of Rhinehard Kronenberg, who was the father of William E. Kronenberg, father of John E. Kronenberg, father of Richard E. Kronenberg. The records that we have been able to come up with indicates Edward was born about 1821 in Germany and Amelia was born about 1831 in Germany. Edward seems to have died after 1890 to 1900. We have a copy of a Madison, Indiana City Directory that shows Edward was a night clerk at Western Hotel in 1890. We believe Amelia died Before 1890, as she was not shown in the City Directory with Edward. They had five children, who were all born in California, Ohio. If any of this information matches up with what you have, we would love to have you send us your address and we will send you what we have. Hopefully you will do the same.

Eileene

I am searching for information about my great great grandfather, Philip KRONENBERG. I have very little information about him. I am guessing his birth to be sometime in around 1850. He was married to Elizabeth GROSS.He and his family reportedly came from Germany to the Pittsburg PA area in about the early 1870's. He and his wife had eight children including twins named Mathilda Marie KRONENBERG and Marie Mathilda KRONENBERG before he disappeared. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dette,
Thank you. I don't know if I will contact them because my ancestors in the Kronenbergs are just from a province far away from Overijssel. At this moment I'm busy with another part of my ancestor tree, but maybe in future.... Thanks for reacting anyway!
greetings
floor hoogendoorn

Hi Floor,
You said you live in Overijssel now. A lot of our relatives live in that area still. In fact my father-in-law is visiting there this month. They live in Hasselt & Zwolle. I know that some of them are doing some genealogy too. Perhaps you can contact some of them and find out who is doing the geneaology? Their names are Ralph & Christien Kronenberg and Albert & Vrowke (Kronenberg) Ten Klooster. Maybe this will help?
Dette

Dear Dette,
Thank you for your information. I'm always glad to hear from someone. The names you mentioned are not familiar to me. I've (at this moment) 5 persons with the name Kronenberg/Kroonberg. They didn't came from Overijssel (funny: I live there now) but from the province North-Holland, there birthyears are: ca 1797 (Anthonie), ca 1836 (Jansje), ca. 1794 (Johannes), ca 1834 (Klaas) and unknown (Nikolaas).

Kronenberg Germany to Minnesota, Indiana

I am seeking siblings, ancestors, descendants of John Kronenberg born about 1856. Came to the U.S. from Germany (according to naturalization papers) in 1879 through the port of New York, resided in Ramsey County, Minnesota and then by 1890 was in Washington, Daviess County, Indiana where he married Johanna Kiefer. He, and his two young sons, all died on on the same date December 9, 1895. That is John Kronenberg, John L. Kronenberg and Joseph
Kronenberg. He was survived by his wife and my grandmother, Mary Josephine Kronenberg b. Feb. 27 1892 and married Nov. 25 1914 to John Anthony Christ. John Kronenberg was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. I believe he may well be related to Peter Kronenberger of Ferdinand, Indianoa in Dubois County. If your Kronenbergs are from Germany -- where in Germany are they from?

Kronenberg Research

I know very little about this line myself. In general I have found most Kronenberg(er)s to be of Jewish faith and it appears that the line originated in Poland or at least a good many of them came to this country from Poland. My John Kronenber was Catholic and he was buried at St. Joseph Cemetery at Washington, Daviess, Indiana. I think he is probably related to Peter Kroneneberg of Ferdinand, Dubois, Indiana. John Kronenberg's naturalization papers indicate that he was born 1856 in Germany and that he came to this country (U.S.A.) in 1879 at the age of 23, landing at the port of New Yor in September 1879 and that in 1894 he registered his intent to become a citizen. The naturalization papers refer to Ramsey County, Minnesota, and the date 1880 so it appears that was his first place of residense. He adds that he had moved to Indiana prior to 1887, more than five years previous to his naturalization in Washington, Daviess, Indiana on Friday, October 29, 1892. He and his two sons, John L. and Joseph died all on the same date, December 9, 1895. I do not know the cause. He left a widow, Johanna (Kiefer) Kronenberg who remarried, to Herman Baumgartner with only one child still living, my grandmother Mary Josephine (Kronenberg) Crist. She was born in 1892 and died Sept. 17, 1965. I have a little information on Peter Kronenberg, but only a little. I would be thrilled to correspond with anyone linked to either John or Peter Kronenberg(er).

Looking for my Kronenberg roots

My name is Dee Kronenberg. My father was Philip Andrew Kronenberg born July 23, 1914 in Springfield, Massachusetts. His father was Frederick Kronenberg, I think that is the spelling for Frederick. His mother was Mary Anderson or Andersen. My grandfather was a chauffeur for a prominent family in the Springfield area. My father had a younger brother David Kronenberg.
I know none of the history of this part of my family and would love to know more.
My father was a Marine prior to WWII and then again in WWII and retired from the service in 1971. He was married to Jeanette Laura Colby of Warner New Hampshire.
If anyone might have some information it would be wonderful. This is my starting point and my first attempt to trace the family name.
Thank you in advance.

I'm looking for information on my kronenberg relatives.
I know very little about them becuase they were somewhat estranged. My mother's father was Leonard Kronenberg, who married Ethel Cooper. All fo the family photos are gone but I know that he had many, many siblings and was possibly the youngest. He was raised by an older sister who was married to a Catholic--hence the Christmas tree each year alongside the menorah.
Thanks!
lindner2@mediaone.net

Could Sidney K. have been Leonard K's brother?

I'm wondering if Sidney was a brother of my grandfather, Leonard Kronenberg, who was also born in the early 1900s in NYC. He had many siblings, all dark and attractive-looking (from the photo I saw once), but he apparently was estranged from most of them but for one sister who had remained unmarried (not that he was clsoe with her, either). Leonard was a lawyer, married to Ethel Cooper.
Please let me know if this is a match. I've been trying to trace the family history and I do know that there is a Polish-German link. Also, one other thing I know is that Leonard was one of so many children that his mother could not handle taking care of him (she was on the older side when she had him) and so he was raised by an older sister who was married to a Catholic man. There was always a Christmas tree in his home, even though he gave us chocolate gold coins for Chanukah each year.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you (or anyone who has information!)
lindner2@mediaone.net
