Thank you for the information..please continue researching names for the brothers. My grandfather did live in PA for a short time. The names I have are John my grandfather, George his brother and third brother Jacob. Jacob is the one who lived in Europe. Possibly an artist who died early

I have a very good site for reference.
http://mapa.szukacz.pl/

My grandfather has on naturalization papers as Jasienca Austria as place of birth.
My grandmother Anna last name is "Walczak"-
I hope someday we can put the family tree together.
Gene Krupa roots in Europe is unknown.
Someone has to know how we are connected. Thank you for the information.
FYI In researching the Krupa name their were not alot of Krupa's until the migration to USA/Canada to escape Austria
Emperior who was killing. Then the Krupa's exploded after the migration. The year of immigratin was between 1900-1910.
B

I have not checked the Krupa message board until now. One of my great-grandfathers, Vincent Janik was married to a Maria Krupa, who was a cousin to the drummer Gene. They lived in Sekowa, Poland. I also have a Regina Krupa married to a Antoni Haluch in the same area.

Symeon Krupa

My great-grandfather emigrated from Lipsk around 1906 with his wife, Kateryna (Katherine) and 3 children, Jan, Maria, and Josef. He settled in Winnipeg and his obit says that he had a brother in Poland, Elias. Does anyone have more info on this family? I know that Jan (John) died in Detroit in 1939 but don't know if he left a family. Joe, I believe, died in Chicago in the 30's also. They also brought with them Symeon's mother-in-law from his first marriage! Her name was Josefa Ricava (I think, the writing is hard to read.)

So many questions...
Krupa Castle - that was destroyed by Hilter - I think
and then the paintings were stolen. go to www.webshots.com
and type Krupa River.

Surf the web type Krupa Castle.
Paintings by Sir Alfred Krupa
http://watercolor-online.com/Gallery/ALFREDKRUPA/

Remember my wish we need a website ... Hello Krupa's...
We have a GREAT story...

You will have fun researching and if you are talented a book/movie could be written on the Krupa's. We are fabulous.

I don't know how - if we any connection to the Castle.
But....it seems our grandfathers were farmers and that
means our grandparents had land. How much?

Any ideas how to push the research further ... advise.

I have an idea for a Krupa page.
http://www.man.poznan.pl/~bielecki/
He has a website and maybe he can help us. He was just in USA and he has communicated to me.

Krupa Arms - that is good question. First we must know were we are from in Europe. If you type in Krupa Code of Arms - so many selections. Go ahead and you will see what I mean.

Good luck.

Have fun and let me know what you find. Go for it Beauty

B
Who had the castle? Who and what did these people do?

Where can I find and see pictures of the Krupa paintings?

I know nothing of all of this. Did you go to the web site to see the cover. I have this book. A cd of his music comes with it. I live in another state so it is very hard for me to get the info. When I call I talk to a phone response. They tell to send money.

Is your father still living? If so, does he know of an Andrew
from Rospity, Galizien?

Thanks again for the receipe. Ymmmmm
Marie

The true Krupa receipt for perogies is.....
Lets call this receipt to give my family credit.
John/Anne Krupa - Austria Poland 1880. - Grandparents.
sauerkraut, hamburger, Farmers Cheese Baltic, and Salt Pork.

I learned from my Uncle Stanley in 1970's who was born in Europe.
4 Cups of Flour double
Fry the 1# hamburger and drain grease.
The sauerkraut (1/2 bag) is boiled about 20 minutes drained.
Cut into small pieces Salt Pork and Boil 1/2 -3/4 pound of Salt Pork for about 20 minutes and then fry to bacon crisps.
Save some salt pork in a another container if you wish to put on top of the perogies when you fry next day.
-------
Night before you make perogies mix. Refrigerate overnight.
Combine Hamburger/sauerkraut/Farmers Cheese ' Baltic'.
Boil and you actually - which I was taught to eat the perogies right from the hot water with fried salt pork on top. Just made a bunch yesterday for a group and they went crazy and they thought they had ever type of perogie enjoy.
Yummmmm....

I have the book Gene Krupa in my collection - this wasn't written by Gene Krupa so it is dead end for us.

So many questions - I hope we can bring the family together.
I think if we had a website for the Krupa we then have a chance of bringing the Krupa's together with photos worldwide plus our Code of Arms and food receipes.

Locating US Citizenship from my notes. Found the notes
Please go Archives of your State Capitol were your grandfather was living PA. You must be present and have them look up your grandfather Declaration of Intention.
Remember it is 2/step process. You will need to know the county, city and hopefully they can locate the document and
get copies. On document it states the birthplace. Also please go to www.jewishgen.org to locate the town. Austria Poland (Galicia). In my research, I understand the Mormans know everything but havn't tried.
Europe. we need to find the birthplace in Europe 1800's access the microfilm for marriage, birth, and death records from the Catholic Church.

I agree why did dictators of Europe what to eliminate the Krupa's.. Good looking-land holdings-talented-whity but the proof is on the internet - your guess is the same as mine. I understand the current number of Krupa's in USA approx. 20,000 (2005) since our grandparents came to USA late 1800's

My 1st wish is have someone from Jasanicza - Austria Poland late 1870-1900 to contact me and find my ancestories in Europe.
Second wish a Krupa Website.

Have great evening.

Godspeed.

B

Thank you for your reply. We love perogies. Would you send me the receipe? We have potato, chesse and cabbage.

Also: Go to Jazzlegends.com This is a link to get the book of Gene Krupa Pictorial Life ofa Jazz Legend. The book is normally $25, now $10. A excellent bio on Gene, since he is a relative.

Do you think my grandfather Andrew is a relative to you and your ancestors. How do we go about finding out.

I did not know anything about the links you sent about Hitler and others killing off the Krupa's Why?? were they a threat to these dictators??

Also, I am very creative, I play the piano, make dolls, garden. So I guess I could be part of clan that is artistic.

Can you send me your info especially concerning the ancestry of Gene Krupa. Mike Sherba's mother was a Krupa.
My mother does not know her first name. So that's all I know about her.

Thanks
Marie

Declaration of Intention (State of Michigan USA)
My grandfather and grandmother were from Jasawieza, Austria born 15th November 1868 per Declaration of Intention. Emigrated from. Bruen?, Germany. According to Declaration of Intention. Note - Grandpa Jan(Grandma Anne)didn't complete the second step process. He didn't go back to become a US citizen (Only completed step 1). Why - he loved
Austria - is my my best thought and wanted to go home.

Trivia - I make pierogi filling like no other person I have found in USA and \PS it is wonderful - delicious. This might be a clue to find our ancestories. My grandfather was a farmer. Gene Krupa was my grandfather 1st cousin-so I am told. I then would be a 3rd cousin.
This would be such a relief to finally find our roots and ancestories in Europe. If you have time search Gene Krupa and his music on the internet - he plays alot about Revolution. Why!

Finally for all the Krupa's here in USA you have a GREAT story to uncover and be proud of our Ancestories. The 18th century is a mystery and people do want to know what happen.
I would love to locate my/our ancestores gravesites.
1940
Trivia
1940
Hilter stole the collection of one of Krupa's family paintings and try to eliminate the Krupa's during his reign and the paintings have never been seen again.

1800's
So we have:Franz Joseph I of Austria -Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Croatia etc. trying to eliminate the Krupa's.

Please visit Krupa castle in ruins.
http://www.slovenia.info/en/kul-zgod-znamenitosti/Castle-Kru...

Austro-Prussian War of 1866

http://www.germannotes.com/hist_empire_austro_prussian_war.s...

I could on and on...so this is enough for now.....I have so many questions and maybe someone can pull these roots of the Krupa's together.
B

2008 Happy Holiday's to Krupa's Worldwide
Godspeed
B

His birth date is Dec 30, 1884
He came over to america sometime before 1905 when he married.
I do not know any other particulars. This is what I am searching for. I'm trying to bring up our genealogy tree. He had 2 sisters in PA. I need his parents and brothers and sisters names. I do not know if he was a naturalized citizen. I do not know how to find this. Please let me know where to look if you know. Thanks

Now .. you need to get your father's naturalization papers -you can get that from the state. Did he become an American Citizen. Those papers will give important information where he came from and his birth place.
My Grandfather had family/cousins in New Castle/PA - I have pictures. Let me know. I would love to bring the family back together.
A real family tree. USA will be easy but Europe will be a challenge. But... if we have the home town we will win where you grandfather was born that would help. Maybe we need a Krupa website and the data will come to us. I will think about it.
The Krupa history is lost in 18th century because Franz Joseph I of Austria
Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Croatia etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Joseph_I_of_Austria

- he was killing everyone - he even murdered his brother.
Please let me know whem you receive more information.

As you know my grandfather 1st cousin was Gene Krupa.
PS do you have any good or old food receipes.
God Speed.
Hi Robin - I've actually seen your name as well on the Krupa board. I can't seem to find any immigration records on how/when they came over. I'm trying to figure out where they are originally from and who is related to who and how.
I can email you what I have but it's all fairly recent (1910 - 1950).
Thanks,
Laurie

The George Krupa in my family was born in the
United States to Julia and William Krupa. I am not sure of his birthdate, but it would be in the 1920's or early 193O's. Look into later Krupa postings, my cousins have done a tremendous amount of work on the family geneology. Good luck in your search.
The history denotes that this family is Ukranian.

Joyce Hofer

Hi, my Grandad was Ernesto Kruppa and was born in the late 1920's in Argentina. I beleive my family migrated from either Germany or Austria area possibly within a generation or two of Ernesto's birth. Half the family supposedly migrated to North America (US) and the other half to Argentina I believe. Therefore he may be a relation to John.
Thank you....
I was told my grandfather was also first cousin to Gene Krupa. Take a peak at the internet about Gene Krupa and he is telling the story what happen in Europe. Please research so we can put the family back together.

My grandfather name was John or Jan Krupa and grandma was Anne and they came from a town called Jasanicza, Austria Poland (Galicia). Early 1900's. I just found out grandfather didn't finished/complete is naturalization papers for USA. 2 Step process and he only completed the first part.
He never became a US citizen. I have the document.

Story goes...Three brothers - John-George-Jacob came to USA and Jacob returned to Europe and have no information. I did find their was a Artist named Jacob Krupa (German)who paintings goes for auction prices. He died about 1924.
This might be be my grandfather brother.

Please note...the key to the Krupa family is .... painting - artist.etc.

A talent has been passed on and we are good. PS my grandfather family were Farmers-that is what is on the naturalization papers.

YES... names of my great grand ...
(However I don't know the names of my great grand parents, but I will try to find out, if you are interested! Let me know.)

Let me know - because we are close to putting the family back together.

Trivia...This is what I have been told. The Krupa's are either Blonde hair blue eyes or Dark hair dark eyes. Which one are you. I am Dark hair dark eyes. Yet my cousins are blonde hair with blue eyes.

Hope this helps.

FYI I have one step left on this side is to find out the truth about the Krupa's is to research locally thru microfiche all the birth, deaths, marriages of the Krupa's in Poland. Just need the time and a day and we will know the truth about our ancestory. I am planning to do this soon - hopefully in September'08

Bernie

This is a thought....Gene Krupa Famous Drummer was from Chicago. Go to work and research his family history. You might find a connection. Gene Krupa was my grandfather 1st cousin so they say. My grandfather John and his brother George (third brother Jacob didn;t stay) came from Europe about 1899 - 1910.

Update in my research. I found a Jacob Krupa who was a famous artist in Europe - his paintings are up for auction.
Jacob Krupa.....
http://www.zdom.com/internationalartists/artistsdirectory-k3...
--------------
or
--------------
http://www.artnet.com/artist/635666/jacob-krupa.html

Jaocob Krupa might be my grandfather brother any research.
Do not surprise with Germany mentioned. The countries moved about. Anyone has any info on Jacob please forward.
He died in 1920's and does fit in with my grandfather time frame.

Note. I am an artist.

Good and luck and maybe we can put the family back together that was scattered because of hard times in Europe.
Bernadette Krupa

She married Jan Michal KESLER 8 November 1842 in Jasienica. Jan Michal and Brygida were the parents of my great great grandmother, Marie KESLER, who married Ignacy BRZOSKA.
Hi:
My name is Bill. I have been doing some research on my father's family. My father's mother's maiden name was Marya Krupa ( Mary ). On her naturalization papers her name is listed as Mary Ann Krupa. She came here with her mother and siblings in 1913. Her father John ( Johann ) had come over the previous year. On his passenger manifest it says that he was to meet his sister Mary Krupa. I believe that my grandmother was named after her aunt Mary, which would very likely have been a Mary Ann. I have all the Ellis island records if you think it may be helpful.
John Krupa was married to Louise Zamora from Poland. They settled in Pottstown, PA. Mary Krupa married my grandfather, Michael Bukolowski and they lived in Franklin, NJ.

Good luck, Bill

Hey everyone - hoping you still go to this side every now and then:)

My brother showed me this side, he found it by accident.

My grandfather's first cousin was Gene Krupa! I thought, this might be fun to know, since my family and I are living in Denmark.
However I don't know the names of my great grand parents, but I will try to find out, if you are interested! Let me know.

My grandfather has passed away, but I know that my father still has family in Poland, some cousins or second cousins or something.

Nice to know that there is part of this family all over the world.

/Signe Krupa

Eric,
I saw your message on there rootsweb site and think you maybe able to help me.

I'm searching for a branch of the Krupa family.

Siblings named:
Ann (or Anna) whom married Angelo Travis and lived at one time in St. Clair, PA
Gene married to AnnaMae (my fathers' Godparents) who live in
Marie
Adolph and
Bill (William)

Their mother was a half or step sibling to my Great-Grandfather, Antoni Brezina
who immigrated in 1905 and resided in St. Claire, Pennsylvania. Trenton, New Jersey and Morrisville, Pennsylvania. We do not know the parents names, but think this will aide us in seeking information about our family prior to immigration to the United States.
Any information you have that could be a link is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Justine Brezina-Bachman
jlbbachman@juno.com

Yes, My 89 year old Grandfather, tells me the Krupa's mother was a half sister or step sister to his father. One of the Krupa's
was Eugene, known as Gene as well. His sister was Ann or Anna. They may have resided in New Jersey since some of my family moved from St. Clair, PA to Trenton, New Jersey. I will speak with my Grandfather and find out more about Eugene's life.
and that of his sister Ann/Anna.
Please keep in touch!
jlbbachman@juno.com
Justine

The half sister was his mother to my Great-Grandfather, Anthony Brezina. Eugene, Ann (Anna), Marie, Adolph, and William were nieces, and nephews (either half or step) to my Great-Grandfather. Some resided in St. Claire, PA.
Eugene lived in New Jersey (I'll check on the towns) and also Yardley, PA.
justine

Zlatica,
Yes, the Krupa's mother was a half or step sister to Antoni.
I just learned this on Tuesday, from my 89 year old grandfather.
Details are so sketchy and confusing, which is making it even tougher to know where to search. Thanks for your guidance.
Justine

Justine

Keep in mind the time frame of your ancestors arrival to America. Would you say they had to have a common language in order to marry upon arrival to the new homeland?
If they came to US as children and than marry, well that rule is out the window.
The birds of the same feather stick or fly together. Something like that goes that old expression.
The second generation could marry any nationality. Again they have the common language, English.
There are some surnames that you can find only in a certain region of a certain country. Then there are names that can be found thru all the Slavic countries.
Order the church records and I am sure they will tell you know is who and from where.
The word krupa in Slovak means peeled barley, pearl barley, hail.

I was ckeking info on the boards for Oslowski. My greatgrandfather was Stanley Oslowski and had a brother named Peter. They both were born in Poland. Do you have any info on Peter. I would like to see if they are connected. We have little info on family in Poland. I do know that Peter was listed as living in Poland (no city listed) when his brother died. Any info would be greatly
appreciated.
Trudy Rusnock

Hi. I was also told that my mother's family was related to Gene Krupa - I'm not sure of the connection. My mother's name is Anna Krupa, born on 5th August 1922 in Sorocko. Her father's name was Theodor Krupa and her mother's maiden name was Marija Swystun.
My mother married my father in Germany and they came to Australia as refugees in 1949.
My parents died several years ago, but I am now hoping to find out about any relatives, or family history.
Nadia, Cairns QLD Australia

Dariuz, I haven't heard from you in a long time I hope all is well. I have sent e-mails but I don't know if you have received them. My family and I went to New York last year to Ellis Island. It was the 100th annniversary of Stanislaw's arrival to the U.S. I had his name added to an Immigrant Wall of Honor. Please e-mail me if you get this and I will write more if I know you are receiving these e-mails. Best to all. Gayle
