Hi, some of your information matches mine. My grandfather is Frank A. Krysiak, and his siblings are those you mentioned. He married Irene Molinski, and in my family's records, he was born in 1905 and his parents are Anthony Krysiak and Anna Psziekopski.

I just started researching my family history and happened upon this. The people you mentioned are in my family, although some of your information doesn't seem to match. My grandfather was Frank Krysiak, but his wife's name was Irene. Grace is the only child alive right now; Leonard died a few years ago.

J_Lichorobiec,

Have you looked at the US Census records for info on Antoinette's parents?

1920 US Census
Green Street
Clinton, Worcester Co, Mass.

Krysiak Paul - head, 38y, married, imm. 1902, alien resident, born in Russian-Poland, worked at a cotton mill
------- Mary - wife, 34y, married, imm. 1905, alien resident, born in Russian-Poland
------- Stanley - son, 12y, born in Massachusetts
------- Stella - daughter, 8y, born in Massachusetts
------- Antonina - daughter, 3 9/12y, born in Massachusetts
------- Chester - son, 3/12y, born in Massachusetts

This census tells you that Paul and Mary were born in the Russian-occupied part of Poland and came to the US in 1902 and 1905. Since they immigrated separately and the children were born in the US, they likely were married in the US and not in Poland.

Then looking at WW1 draft records:

Paul Krysiak
residence: 133 Green Street, Clinton, Mass.
DOB: don't know (month/day) 1887
citizenship: alien resident
born: Zalas, Lomza
citizen of: Russia
employer: Lancaster Mills in Clinton, Mass.
dependents: wife and 3 children
signature: X (illiterate)
height: short
build: slender
eyes: blue
hair: brown
bald: no
disabilities: none

Now, if this Paul Krysiak is your husband's great grandfather, there's a Pawel Krysiak on a Hamburg departure manifest, sailing aboard the SS Patricia which left port on 26 April 1902, going to the port of New York. Info on Hamburg departure lists is minimal, but it does provide the birthplace for the passengers.

Pawel Krysiak - age 16, single, from Zalas, Russia

Looking at the NY arrival record (arrived 8 May 1902):

Pawel Krysiak - age 16, single, occ: laborer, last residence: Zalas, Russia; ethnicity: Polish, going to Clinton, Mass to an uncle, Ignaz Krisiak

Because this Pawel was underaged, he was detained until his uncle came for him. Ignaz lived at 138 Green St in Clinton, Mass.

You can always obtain a transcript or photocopy of Antonina's baptismal record (not a baptismal certificate, since it likely won't contain ALL of the info recorded in the book) to see what birthplace is given for her parents. [Antonina would be Polish for the French Antoinette.] Obtaining copies for all the children born to Paul and Mary would be best, since info contained can vary from record to record.

I also found a WW2 draft record for a Paul Peter Krysiak:

residence: 28 Park Street, Clinton, Worcester Co, Mass.
age: 56y
DOB: Dec 18 1885 in Poland
person who will always know his address: Mrs. Mary Krysiak - 28 Park Street, Clinton, Mass.
employer: Fred Raby - Clinton, Mass.
place of employment: Blackstone Plush Co - School Street, Clinton, Mass.
signed: Paul Krysiak

I hope some of this helps you!

-MJ

I found that you are looking for Krysiak's. My husband's grandmother was Antoinette Krysiak. She was born on 4/30/1916 in Clinton Massachusetts. She married Edward Lichorobiec on 9/2/1033. She had sisters named Alice, Stella, Mary and brothers Chester and Stanley. Her parents were Paul and Maryanne Krysiak. I dont know anything about them. I wish I did. I can tell you more about her and her children, if you would like. Can you tell me about your Krysiak Ancestors?

Thanks for the response. The Krysiak's (Crishock) that I'm researching immigrated from Poland sometime in the mid 1800's and settled somewhere around Shenandoah, PA. I have come across a miriad of spellings for this name, so the research has been quite challenging. Thanks again!

Do you know if any part of this family removed to Worcester Co., MA?
The earliest record I have found in MA is 1913 although may have been here sooner . Also the real possibility that they
came in through another port other than Boston/ New York.
Please let me know more if you have .
Thank -You - I do believe all possibilities of our families being related.
I will post more information as I find it .
Have a great Day
Andrea

Julia (8 mos.(?))
Later another dau. was born (living information)
and a son Freidolph Francis (KRISIAK) b. 11 March 1922 .

John was not in the 1920 Census with wife Rosanna , & unfortunately I no longer have access to the census and could not find him when I did.
Where was he?

I was told by a family member with very limited information about him that he apparently deceased while the children were very young , narrowing this down to about 1921-1925 . There is an existing picture of him in uniform (from what I have been told) but it is so faded the details of his face are gone)
By Jan. 1925 Roseanna I believe was remarried and did have a son Harry KEMPTON (Jr.) b. 1925 in Rochester,Strafford,NH. by 1935 was in New Durham,NH.
and died 1972 , I believe in Manchester NH.
(Rochester had no record of her death but she was a resident there)

As to the death of John I have to wonder if he did actually die early or was there any family discord ? or other factors?
Hard to make that call but I try not to rule out any possiblities.
I am hoping to find that definate link .
We have our KRYSIAK family (ies) in common as well as the yearning to know more of it.

Take Care,
Andrea

Dear Stefanie,
My name is Lauren Krysiak and I was also shocked to see how many Krysiaks I have come across during my search of my family's ancestry. I have just started my search and I know my greatgrandfather is the late Edward Krysiak. My grandfather Chester, who died in 1978, I had never met. I am hoping you could provide me with some information. Anything would help right now, it would be greatly appreciative!!

I am Jillian Krisiak. Just now started looking about information on the background of my family. I always felt the name was uncommon since never hearing it outside of my family. I was also told that my last name was shortened when my family came over which has made it difficult to research. I would love to get into contact and learn more about the Krisiaks

My name is Lauren Krysiak and I can't believe this. There really are so many of us! This is awesome. You say our last name used to consist of 16 characters. Do you know what they were? I have heard in older documents that the 'a' at the end of Krysiak was not connected. Somewhere down the line the 'u' looked connected and became Krysiak; know anything about that? I know your spelling is with the 'i' but this is just too weird. any info would be great.

Hello
Greatings from Germany
I am born in Berlin and there most of my family live. My grandgrandmother Hilde Krysiak(she is not really my grandgrandma but her younger sister; her sister, the first wife of Paul died young because of Tuberkulose and then Hilde raised Horst and married Paul) went there together with her husband Paul Krysiak and there son Horst Krysiak(my grandpa) after WorldWar 2. Horst has a younger brother Dieter, who retired recently and lives in the Eiffel (also Germany). Dieter has 3 sons. One of them has also a son. They live in Hannover and near Munich. Horst and his wife Ilka still live in Berlin and they have 4 children. My father Ralf, Birgit (3 children), Yost and Frank(2 children).I myself have a brother and a sister and we live near Munich.
I speak German, English and a little bit French. My coustoms are totaly German, I am not influenced by Poland. I have never been there! Dieter tries to untangle the Krysiak family tree. Half a year ago a men from the nothern part of Germany contacted my and said he is also related with Paul Krysiak.
In Germany live over 100 registered Krysiak. Ther also exists a third Stefanie Krysiak.
I also have American relatives on the side of my mother (born as Horstmann). Her aunt married a GI who was stationed in Germany after WW2. She and with her a big family now live in Texas.

My relatives' immigration records indicate they are Polish German. As Poland did not exist as an official country at the time, but was owned by Germany and Russia and other countries, I believe people who had a Polish background and customs but no official Polish country called themselves "Polish - the name of their citizenship." I hope that is not too confusing.

Are there many Krysiaks in Germany? What area of Germany?

What languages do you speak? Do you have Polish or German customs?

Hello John ,
My apologies for taking so long to reply . We have just moved and this is the 1st I have been able to get back to the net.
You're right it is ironic that you share the same name as my g-grandfather. I wish I knew more about him .

It is a hard situation never having met my paternal grandmother , the only thing she could tell me is that he apparently died when she was very small and the picture she has of him is in uniform and his face (sadly) faded from the picture. I do not have futher contact iwith her (her choosing)
but she is up in years and told me that this was all she knew of him.

Records of him seem very scare , and I cannot seem to latch onto any possible siblings John may have had. The only name I have is of Peter , the spelling of his last name seems to me to be also Krysiak . He was a resident in Fitchburg,MA
in 1915/17 .

Thank -you John for contact , perhaps this is a good sign of things to come ! I hope!!

Sincerely ,
Andrea M. Brown

Hi Kathy , Rosalie , and other Krysiak descendants,
John Francis Krysiak is a great mystery to me .
This is my paternal great grandfather .
From the Heywood Levi Library sent to me information of John in Fitchburg in 1916 was residing with Piotr Czeslak , at 66 Middle street . When pronouncing Piotr's surname my guess would be that he too is a KRYSIAK , I have been trying to search the 1910 and 1920 and found this surname spelled several different ways : Krusik , Krisak , Krawsyiak , etc.
And there were many John's - Marriage record of 1915 was sent from Fitchburg to Archives, wife Rosana Montbriand was residing with her parents in Templeton ,Worcester ,MA , I do not know where John was . I am seriously at this point considering contacting the Polish Genealogical Society .
Parents were noted as Joseph and Anna Zaricka, Sawicka , a surname that sounds like this .
There were lots of Josephs and Annie, Anna's or Maryana's in the census also.
Born in Russia /Poland between 1889/1891 . He was 25 in Nov. 1915 ,listed as 28 on his dau's birth record in Dec.24, 1919. His dau. my biological grandmother whom I have never met but spoke to once inquiring about family said that he died when she was very young , so she did not remember him but had a picture of him in uniform , but sadly his face was faded. I believe if this is so then he died before 1925 because Rosana was by then with 2nd husband residing in Nh.

Any informatin or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank -you
Sincerely,
Andrea
Hello,

My surname is Krysiak and my grandfather and his siblings were born in Clinton, Massachusetts in Worcester County. If you have access to the 1910 or 1920 census, you will see that there were many Krysiaks who lived in Clinton - many still do.

Please check the census to see if you recognize any names. I have a sneeking suspiscion we are in some way distantly related.

Kathy Krysiak

Hi Again Kathy ,
I am the one who posted information inquiring more about my G-grandfather John Krisiak - He was living in Fitchburg in 1916 - married 15 Nov. 1915 in Templeton ,MA ~ Roseanna M. Montbriand by 1917 moved to Gardner, Worcester,MA .
and possibly at some date in Webster where Roseana's family also lived .

Their children:
Edward A. Krysiak ~b. 1 July 1915 d. 14 Sept. 2000 ~ Saugus ,MA

Julia L ~ b. 1919 ~ Probably in E. Templeton
she may have d. young - nothing more is known.

F- Living (?) Krysiak

Friedolph Francis ~ 11 March 1922 ~ Baldwinville,Worcester,MA d. 19 April 1994 Farmington,NH

-During World War I in the Polish Army in France (in Polish, Armia Polska we Francyi). From among the Polish immigrants who came to America to fight with France,
I believe John was one who served in WWI and I am currently researching this and from General HALLY'S Recruitment List :

Krawczyk, Franciszek of Webster, MA
also Krzyzek, John ~no place name given ~ my feeling is either or possibly both are one in the same - my g- grandfather . Jan Franciszek Krysiak .
s/o Joseph and Anna (according to marriage record ~1915)
There is an existing picture I have not seen, only informed about , of him in uniform .

He was NOT listed in the household with wife Roseanna
in 1920 , she was residing with her parents and at that time 2 children . It is believed that he died between 1921 - 1925
somewhere in Worcester County (?) I have not yet been able to locate his death record.

I still have my old E-mail address as well as this one.
Please do contact me . If you know of any connections to him or have any ideas please , please do let me know .
I am always seeking new avenues , and even backtracking up the old ones.
Take Care ,
Andrea
