Hi Jean,

It's been a while since your posts, and we've corresponded since then. I've got Daniel's birth as Nov 3 1806 in Williams Twp, Northampton Co. I lost my citation with database conversion - I may have received that information from you! Also, I'm thinking this Daniel is actually a Daniel Jr. and the next generation Daniel (I've been told by a descendent) is actually William Daniel.

I see there was a Daniel Kuehner living in Bethlehem Twp, Northampton Co in 1800, with household consisting of
Males: one < 10, one age 25-40;
Females: two under 10, and one age 25-40.

Could this be Daniel's family? I've got Daniel Kuehner and Rosina Klein with no dates and 8 children:
1. Johannes (John) Mar 28 1793
2. Peter
3. Jacob Jul 7 1796
4. Anna
5. Susanna Mar 6 1799
6. Catherine "Katie" Mar 5 1801
7. Maria Jan 23 1804
8. Daniel Nov 3 1806

This would work with the census cited above if two of the boys did not survive to 1800 and Anna's DOB is before Susanna's.

My grandfather, Preston Calvin Keener - was the son of Wm.Henry Keener and May Esterly according to my records. However I have his wife as Laura Ellen Haines from Lehighton,Pa. I do not know if he was married to a Jennie Miller from Northampton, Pa. However, his father and mother did have him listed and also siblings Daisy and Mark. His mother May was also listed as a Mary Ayeteskey and perhaps changed her name to May Esterly. I do know that she was a Jewish woman. Also other siblings were Mamie and Albert E.

Hi, Eric would be interested in any information you have about his family. He was so excited about the information you have already provided. After Helen passed away Harold married Helen's sister, Eleanor. Harold and Eleanor had Eric. They divorced a little while later and Harold remarried to someone else. He and his new wife had a daughter named Lisa. Eric has two older brother from Harold's first marriage to Helen named Scott and Jeff. I don't think Eric has seen his father since he was little. He is actually planning on trying to get ahold of him sometime this month. We are expecting our first child in February. I know he really regrets not having been able to get to know Harold when he was growing up. It's left a bit of a void there. If you want to you can email me at jeanmarie_20022000@yahoo.com. Thank you so much for taking the time to write me and help me with this. We appreciate it more than you can know.

Jeanie

Hello,

This is very sad to say, but I did not know that Harold had a son Eric. I vaguely recall stepchildren of Harold's by his wife Helen, but I'm drawing a blank on any natural children. I would not know Eric's mother. Our family is not close at all (have to blame myself as much as anyone else for that!) I recall Harold very fondly from my childhood, but it has to have been over 30 years since we had any contact--that I can recall. It sounds like Eric may not be close to his father??

When Gladys died young, Chester, Harold, and Harold's brother Kenneth (do you know him?) went to live with Anna. My mother was still living at home with her mother (Anna) at that time and she was fairly close to Harold and Kenny. She and the other sisters in the family sort of helped raise Harold and Kenny. I have some pictures of Harold when he was young that I got from my mother and her sister Hazel that I could forward by email if you are interested along with the news article on Chester's death which gives a bit of biographical information. I can also look to see if I have any notes left to me by Hazel on Gladys--or perhaps your husband is not interested beyond knowing what he already does--let me know. Another cousin of ours (mine and Harold's), Charlotte's son Vernon has done a lot of family research--but I haven't been in touch with him for years either!

Gladys died long before I was born. I did not know "Uncle Chet" too well and I was in my teens when he died.

Nice to make contact with you!

My husband's name is Eric. His father is Harold Kuehner and I was doing the research on his grandmother and grandfather. It has been very difficult finding this information. His grandmothers name was Gladys but I wasn't sure if Chester was his grandfather or not. All I really knew was that he had committed suicide somewhere near Bleecker. The information you have given me is amazing. Thank you so very much. Did you ever know Harold to be Chester's son? All the information sounds correct and fits. Again, thank you so much for your help on this. My husband was starting to think his family didn't exist. lol.

Hello Lynneen-nice to hear from you.

You found some interesting information on George and family and thanks for posting. I have nothing new on this part of the family. It is too bad that we can't figure out George and Margaret's earlier history and whether he is the natural father of all 3 children. I wonder if a burial permit or death certificate on her would have any useful leads to birth records for the children. I'm also stuck on who Franciska Kuehner Hoffarth's natural mother was, because I don't think it was Elizabeth Rickell. I did get a place of birth for her of Brooklyn, but it appears birth records for Brooklyn start 3 years after her birth.

I'm updating the brief summary that I posted last March in case any of this is new to you and of interest. Of course, you supplied some of this information to me. I wanted to do an update partly because there is someone who posted on the Chester Kuehner thread that I directed here. Chester is the son of Adam, George's brother.

Kuehner Summary

Julia (Julie) Mollman (possibly born to Johann Albert Moellmann and Aletta Sophia Fredricka Joris about 8/11/1822 in Preussen Germany-IGI) arrived in NYC 8/21/1848 and married Louis Rickell (Richel) born about 1821 in Germany—a passenger on the same ship. They had children 1) Elizabeth (Eliza, Lizzie) b 11/16/1849 Wilbur, NY and d 6/12/1927 in Poughkeepsie, NY (to be abbreviated Pok) 2) John b 1851 and d 9/26/1866 and buried in Kingston, NY 3) Joseph b 1856 in Ulster Co NY and d 3/3/1914 in Pok. Joseph married Caroline-at least 8 children. 4) Francis (female) b 1858 and d 1/31/1934 in Pok. Francis married Fergus Madden and they had at least 6 children. 5) Johanna b 11/1859 and is likely the person who died under that name 6/20/1883 in Pok.
This couple (Julia and Louis) may have had more than one child named Francis.

I am following Elizabeth Rickell who married Conrad Kuhner (Kuehner) (b about 5/13/1838 Bayern [Bavaria] to Theobald Kuhner and Catharina Hauck-IGI and d 4/28/1895 Pok-lung hemmorhage) on 9/20/1869 in Manhattan. Conrad had come to NYC on 7/1/1857. Their children are 1) Francis (Franciska)(b 5/30/1863 Brooklyn and d 12/2/1918 in Pok -State Mental Hospital-of Cerebral Arteriosclerosis). Francis married John Hoffarth (b 11/18/1862 and d 6/30/1941) on 11/1/1884 in Pok. Their children were Mary Josephine Hoffarth Ehleider, Katie Hoffarth Bieber, Frances A. Hoffarth O’Hern and sons Frank and John who both died very young. Franciska’s mother may have been someone other than Elizabeth since their ages are so close, but I don’t yet know. 2) John (b 10/27/1871 Pok and d 12/8/1892 Pok of TB). 3) Mary Josephine (Mamie, Marion)(b 10/1874 and d?). She married Philip Miller (b 1/17/1861 Pok and d 6/10/1934 in Hudson, NY). 1 child Marion. 4) Adam Conrad (b 3/15/1878 Pok and d 3/12/1943 in Gloversville, NY.) Adam married Anna Hammersmith (b 4/4/1878 Germany and d 04/14/1978 Gloversville) on 7/26/1899 Pok. Their children were Conrad, Grace, Ralph, Hazel, Chester, Edwin, Harriet, Charlotte, and Alice. 5) Caroline Amelia (b10/18/1879 Pok and d ?). She married Frank S. Miller (b 1/10/1923 Philmont NY and d 1/31/1952 Pok). No children of her own. 6) Eliza Effie (b 6/5/1881 and d ?). She married John D. Kelty (b ? and d 1/27/1948 in NYC) They had children Daniel E, Katherine Kelty Mangue (Manogue) and Dorothy Kelty Long. 7) Katherine (Catharine, Kate) (b 8/16/1884 Pok and d ?). She married Harry R. Terwilliger (Terwillger, Twileger) (b 4/24/1891 in Plattekill, NY and d ?). 1 child Barbara J. They moved to Dorcester, MA. 8) George Henry (b 3/21/1886 Pok and died 7/19/1958 New Haven, CT). He married Margaret Stevens (b 1888 and d 10/19/1937 New Haven). Their children were Marion Kuehner Thomas, Georgeena, and Joseph-they may have been George’s stepchildren. 9) Albert Daniel (b 8/23/1888 Pok and d 2/17/1970 Pok). He married Alice C. Butler (d 1953) on 8/2/1913 in Pok. Their children were Dolores Kuehner DeMichiel and Vivian F. Kuehner McCormack. 10) Charlotte (Lottie) Margaret (b 9/10/1891 Pok and d 11/10/1980 Pok). She married Harry Ferris (b 1889 and d 1963) on 1/18/1913 in Pok. Their children were Virginia Lucille Ferris Smith, Kenneth Ferris, and Jean Ferris Doell.

Keep me posted of any updates/errors!

Mary Anne

Hello!

Chester Kuehner was my mother's brother. I have just run across your post. I will give you what I have readily available. Chester was born 6/30/1908 in Gloversville, and died 9/10/1968 in Bleecker (sadly by suicide). I can get you the news article. Gladys Fisher was born 7/30/1910 and died 4/13/1937 in Gloversville. Chester had 8 siblings-Conrad, Grace, Ralph, Hazel, Edwin, Harriet, Charlotte, and Alice--all deceased. He was the son of Adam Conrad Kuehner (Kuhner) (b 3/15/1878 in Poughkeepsie, NY and d 3/12/1943 in Gloversville) and Anna Hammersmith (Hammerschmidt) (b 4/4/1878 in Germany and d 4/14/1978 in Gloversville). To follow Adam further back, see the message board for "George Kuehner and Margaret Stevens"--particularly my message dated 3/16/07 which is a brief summary and no longer up to date with my research. Note that Adam is George's brother. There is another contributor to this thread who has furnished a lot of information. I will be updating my summary shortly on that thread. Anna Hammersmith was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara both born in Germany and I have not researched too much beyond that. I don't have much on Gladys beyond recalling that she was a nurse and she died young due to an infection--I may have some notes on this somewhere.

Just wondering..who is your husband, and which of my cousins is his father? (We are not in touch).

Mary Anne (daughter of Harriet)

Dear Mary Anne,

Thank You so much for your quick May 7th reply, it was in time for me to double check my information before I printed the 4 Genealogy Notebooks for Our Kuehner relatives.
Dear Heidi and Lynneen,

I am also starting to research the Kuehners in Poughkeepsie, NY. George Henry Kuehner (formerly Kuhner, and born 3/21/1886 in Poughkeepsie, the son of Conrad and Lizzie Kuhner) was the brother of my grandfather Adam Conrad Kuehner. George was baptized and confirmed at Christ Church in Poughkeepsie and lived there until at least 1910. In 1910, George is on the U.S. Census as a driver for a bakery (there are a lot of family connections to bakeries) and he was still living with his mother and stepfather (Elizabeth-Lizzie-and Michael Lanahan) and some of his 10 siblings in Poughkeepsie. I assume we are talking about the same person even though we have Marion's (George's daughter's) date of birth 1909? I have not researched George after 1910, so I thank both of you for the information you have supplied. I had no idea that he had left the Poughkeepsie area. Adam died in 1943 and his obituary shows a surviving brother George of Poughkeepsie. This could easily be wrong, but again I hope we have the same George Kuehner. I have no recollection of ever hearing about George, but I do have 2 snapshots that Adam's brother George is in from the 1930's that I would be glad to share if you are interested. I was very interested to hear about the antique shop photo. I have not run across any information about the family owning an antique shop, but I will look into that possiblity as I continue my research. I will also look for anything else about George's earlier years for you. George was from a large family and although I am still early in researching this part of the family, I have a lot of information already.
Let me know if all 3 of us are definitely are talking about the same George Kuehner and if you are interested in information on his siblings, parents, and one set of grandparents that I have and I will be glad to share it with you!

Mary Anne in Albany, NY

Hello Lynneen,

An update on George and family.

I found George on the 1915 NY State census in Poughkeepsie. There is no Margaret, Marian, or Joseph in his household. I suppose he could have married Margaret somewhere (?) in 1907-1908 (note he alleges marriage at age 21 on the 1930 census), they split up and he went back to his mother's home and then they got back together in 1916 in Connecticut...but this doesn't explain the absence of birth records for Marian and Joseph in NY and I can't find any Margaret or Marian Kuehner on the 1910 census. Maybe we aren't going to figure this one out!

I did find the actual microfilm of the marriage license and certificate for Conrad Kuhner and Lizzie Mollman. It shows Conrad was living in Poughkeepsie and Lizzie in NYC. Parents' names were as you told me, so that Christening record we discussed for Conrad is his. Place of birth on the license for Conrad is just "Germany" and Lizzie was born in Wilbur (not Wilbus), NY (just outside of Kingston). They were married by the pastor of the North Baptist Church and the witnesses were Lelina L. Garland and (it looks like) A. Schoonmaker (neither name rings a bell with me). Conrad stated that he was 29 (should have been at least 31 per the Christening date) and Lizzie was 20. The writing is not clear, but it looks like Lizzie signed with an "X" and someone wrote her name around the "X" for her. Interestingly, they alleged it was the 1st marriage for both of them. The date of marriage was 9/20/1869--so where does daughter Francis (Franziska) born around 1863 come from?? I had guessed this was Conrad's 2nd marriage-he was certainly old enough to have been married previously and that Francis was by his 1st wife. I suppose Francis could have been born out of wedlock and perhaps her mother died and she went to live with her father? Another mystery!

Also found the arrival records for Julie Mollman and Louis Richel (also spelled Riekel) on the New York Passenger Lists 1820-1957 on Ancestry. The arrived on the same ship on 8/21/1848--apparently not yet married as she is under her maiden name.

Keep me posted and I will do the same!

Mary Anne

Lynneen,

Thank you so much for directing me to the familysearch record on the marriage of Conrad and Lizzie. I confess that I am not fully acquainted with all this site has to offer (and I will need to wait until my home computer is back up before exploring further!) I was able to find a record of this marriage, but not with the detail on parents of Conrad and Lizzie. I guess this reference it telling us that Julia's maiden name was definitely Mollman and that Conrad's parents were as stated. I am waiting for the actual microfilm record of the marriage from LDS and I will certainly share it with you. Perhaps it won't tell us any more, but we'll see.

My guess is that George and Margaret were married in Connecticut. I'll have to see if I can find George Kuehner on the 1915 NY State census (a slow search at our state library) to see if there was anyone else (Margaret, Joseph, or Marion) in the household that year. I don't have the date in front of me this second, but I believe 1915 was the last year George was in the Poughkeepsie City Directory. If none of these people was in his household in 1915 and George shows up in Connecticut the next year, perhaps he met Margaret (in NY or CT) and they moved to CT and were married there.

Keep me posted and I will do the same. Regards to your Aunt Rose!

Thanks again,
Mary Anne

Hi Lynneen!

I'm sorry, but I have no info regarding Margaret's date of death and I know of no way to access it. I am just beginning research and if I learn of a source for it (other than writing to BVS), I will let you know.

I did see the German record of Conrad as the son of Theobald and Catharina Kuhner and the christening date seems about right for him. There is also an arrival record for Conrad 7/1/1857 which also seems to be a good date. Both of these records show a place of birth for him of Bayern (also known as Bavaria). I was not sure that they pertained to our Conrad because the only record I could find for him (that was definitely his) which gave a place of birth more specific than just "Germany" was the 1870 US Census in which it appears that he gave "Baden" as his place of birth (not the same). So I was very hesitant to call either the German record or the arrival record his.
I am VERY interested to see that you have more information on Lizzie Rickel including Julia's maiden name. I did find a record of the marriage of Conrad and Lizzie 9/20/1869 (Italiangen.org), but I am still waiting for microfilm from the Family History Center to look at the certificate for more information. Did you locate a marriage certificate for Conrad and Lizzie showing Julia's maiden name on line?? Can you direct me to it? Or did you locate a birth record for Lizzie with this information-where?? I would be most interested to see this information--I had no idea what Julia's maiden name was.

Also, I wonder if your Aunt Rose had any input on whether George could have been Joseph's stepfather (rather than natural father) given the circumstances we discussed before.

Thanks so much for any information you can provide!

Mary Anne
Heidi and Lynneen,

Here is a brief summary-again I have just started and missing information is mostly what I haven't researched yet. I'm too unfamiliar with this to know the best format-but here it is:

Louis Rickell (b about 1820 in Germany, d 12/31/1893 in Poughkeepsie, NY (I will abbreviate this as Pok), married Julia ? (b 1823 in Germany, d 11/8/1896 in Pok). Their 1st child Elizabeth (also known as Eliza and Lizzie) was born in 1849 in Ulster Co, NY and died 4/19/1928 in Pok. Louis and Julia went on to have 4 more children 2)John (b 1851, d 9/26/1866), 3)Joseph (b 1860-married Catherine),4)Francis (b 1858 she married Fergus Madden), and last child for them that I know of was 5)Johanna (b 11/1859 and may have married a James Henry). I AM FOLLOWING ELIZABETH.

Elizabeth married Conrad Kuhner (where and when married unknown). Conrad was born in 1838 in Germany-Baden perhaps, may have come alone to the U. S. in 1857 and he died 4/28/1895 in Pok. He may have been maried prior to marrying Elizabeth as one of the children they raised seems too old to be Elizabeth's own child. The children are: 1) Francis (also Franziska) b 1863-married John Hoffarth and had 3 children 2) John b 10/27/1871 and d 12/8/1892 in Pok 3) Mary Josephine b 1875 (she was also known as Mamie and married Philip Miller) 4) Adam Conrad b 3/5/1878 in Pok and died 3/12/1943 in Gloversville, NY. Adam married Anna Hammersmith and they had 8 children who lived to adulthood. One of them is my mother. 5)Caroline (Carrie) Amelia b 10/18/1879 and married Frank S. Miller. 6)Eliza Effie b 6/5/1881 and married John D. Kelty-3 children 7)Katherine Joanna b 8/16/1884 (married Harry R. Terwilliger 8)George Henry b 3/21/1886 {you know better than I the rest of his story}. 9) Albert Daniel b 8/23/1888 and died 2/17/1970 in Pok. Albert married Alice C. Butler-2 children and 10)Charlotte (Lottie) Margaret b 9/10/1891 and died 11/10/1980 in Pok. She married Harry Ferris and had 3 children.

After Conrad died, Elizabeth remarried Michael Lenahan (Lanahan) and he died 7/22/1896 in Pok.

The spelling of Kuhner was changed to Kuehner in the late 1800's or so.

Louis Rickell was a laborer, Conrad was a baker, John Hoffarth was a mailman, Phillip Miller owned a marble and granite quary, Adam was a painter and wallpaperer, Frank Miller was a carpenter, John D. Kelty ran a bakery with his mother (this may be George's employer in 1910), Harry Terwilliger was a manager at an A and P, and Michael Lenahan was a gardener/laborer. As far as I know, Philip and Frank Miller were not related. Aside from Adam who moved to Gloversville, Harry Terwilliger who moved to Boston, and George who moved to Connecticut, everyone else stayed around Pok as far as I know. Most of Conrad's grandchildren are deceased and I haven't gone into detail about them, but feel free to ask if you have any specific questions. My mother's generation is entirely gone.
Hope this is of interest to you. I will post any new findings-please do the same!

Mary Anne

Hello Heidi and Lynneen,

I would have responded sooner, but I had a trip planned to our state library and I thought I'd wait until I had that information to post again.

Regarding George--I am puzzled. We do have the same man, but something doesn't seem quite right. As I said before, in the 1910 Census he was living with his mother in Poughkeepsie and was single. I searched the Poughkeepsie City Directories from 1908 to 1915 (I ran out of time to search further) and George is listed every year at the same address as his mother. There is no mention of a Margaret (of course, she could have been invisible in a city directory in those years). So if George lived in Poughkeepsie through the time period that Joseph and Marion were born, I thought I should be able to find birth records for them and a marriage certificate for George and Margaret in the State Archives. However, I searched ALL of NY state (except NY City which is not available here) for the marriage of George Kuehner/Kuhner and Margaret Stevens/Stephens, etc for the period 1907 to 1912 and could not find any record. I also searched for the births of Joseph Kuehner/Kuhner/Stevens/Stephens and for Marion or Marian under all of those possible surnames-again nothing even close. Poughkeepsie was pretty good at vital records keeping and reporting, so this seems strange. Obviously there are a lot of explanations for this, but let me run a thought by you..Is it possible that George married Margaret when she was a widow or divorcee and that he is not the biological father of Joseph or Marion but he adopted them? Perhaps Joseph and Marion were born under Margaret's first married name? I do notice that Joseph and Marion are born 2 years apart, and Georgeena is another 15 years later. Maybe George married Margaret later than what I searched (or maybe even outside the state). I know this possible scenario contradicts some of what we have. There is no one left in my family who could help us out with this. What are your thoughts??

I'll post again shortly with a summary of what I have on the rest of the family.

Mary Anne

Dear Heidi and Mary Anne,

You both have given me a wealth of information and the Resources to move forward with Our Kuehner Family History.
Indeed we are talking about the same George H. Kuehner from New York and Connecticut. Checked out The Records of Christ Church - Poughkeepsie, New York. So much info to add to my records. Thank You- Thank You!! Aunt Rose Kuehner sent me a letter 2.22. I answered 2.27. and am waiting for a response. She also is very interested and appreciative.
Most certainly I would love to receive any information you both are willing to share. Anything new I will also forward. Haven't been able to find the record of Margaret's Death although there is a Margaret Kuehner listed for 1935. I'll have to check further.
Heidi, it would have been so much easier if our Families had kept written records, but I'm sure their lives were just as demanding or more with raising their Families. I understand how Life and Taking Care of the Needs of Family takes Priority and so much Energy. Last March, My Twin Sister ( Lynn) died waiting for a Second Liver Transplant. She was only 60. So much to do and take care of for them that things we want to do (genealogy) have to be Put on Hold. I found I was most content on focusing on the moment and what needed to be done at the time, and Because It was the Right Thing to Do!! We also have to Take Care of Ourselves. My Genealogy will always be here, its a work in progress, so whenever is good enough for me. It's always fun to find some new information to add. Again, thanks to You- Mary Anne and Heidi. Please take Care.

Lynneen (McCracken) Danielson- E-Mail lynneen@sbcglobal.net.
Dear Mary Anne and Heidi,

Was wondering if anyone has the Date of Margaret (Stevens) Kuehner"s Death in New Haven, CT. Around 1935.
Also, German Records show a THEOBALD KUEHNER & CATHARINA HAUCK with a Son CONRAD KUEHNER- CHRISTENED MAY 13, 1838.
CONRAD KUEHNER married ELIZABETH RICKELL. There is a
CONRAD KUEHNER marriage- September 20, 1869 in Manhattan, New York, New York. ELIZABETH'S parents LOUIS RICKEL and JULIA would her last name be MOLLMAN, as they are parents of LIZZIE RICKEL. Want to finalize my records so I can print and send to MY AUNT ROSE KUEHNER - who is 92. I would appreciate any help with new information. Thank You
Lynneen Danielson

Dear Mary Anne,

I used two different sources for my information:
www.familysearch.org
CONRAD KUEHNER
#19. May 13, 1838 Christening Lists THEOBALD KUEHNER &
CATHARINA HAUCK as Parents.
#59. LIZZIE RICKEL Birth Wilbus, Ulster, New York
Parents- LOUIS RICKEL & JULIA MOLLMAN as Parents.
Spouse- CONRAD KIRKNER- GERMANY- (Notice Spelling)
Same Parents : THEOBALD KUEHNER & CATHARINA HAUCK.
Marriage- 9,20, 1869 Manhatten, NY, NY. Could not view
record.

www. ancestry.com
LOUIS RICKELL-Stories & Publications- Under Family & Local
Histories.
Records of Christ Church Pouchkeepsie, NY.
1911-1916.
You can enter any NAME in Keywords and it will list the Page Numbers for that person.
Just by entering the Surnames there is a lot of information.
Everything from Births, Marriages, Deaths.
On page 106 I found more RICKELL records. Also, Part 2 Page 358 RICKELL DEATHS.
I found it helpful to enter both spellings for KUEHNER (KUHNER) and RICKELL (RICKEL).

I'm not sure the on the German Record or Arrival Record either and haven't added to my records until I find more proof that this is OUR CONRAD KUEHNER.
Haven't added Mollman name yet either. Let me know what you think of these records.
NO MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FOR CONRAD & LIZZIE. Just the information from familysearch.org. LDS site.
KINDRED KONNECTIONS has some information and also lets you click over to familysearch.org.
ROOTSWEB is another source. Many are owned by Ancestry.Com
No actual birth record for Elizabeth Rickell. Just November 1849 Ulster Co. NY. was listed on one of the Census.
I certainly will continue to look for new information and will pass on to you.

At this point I haven't received an answer to my last letter to Aunt Rose in February. She lives alone and it is hard for her to get around and she doesn't get out much. I'm going to print what I have so far to send to her. Then I will ask again, if she remembers anything else about the Kuehner Family. It really is strange not to find a Marriage for George & Margaret. Or a death for Margaret in Connecticut. Have found the date of death for George and his second wife, Adeline in Connecticut.

All I know for Now.
Dear Heidi,

As I continue to look for more information on the George Kuehner Family. I'm pretty sure I have found that George H. Kuehner had remarried, using the Census and Connecticut City Directories - George H. & Margaret are listed on East Main St. through 1937 then, the 1942 Draft Registration for George H. Kuehner he is at 632 Balwin St. Waterbury, New Haven, CT. Then 1952 City Directory has George H. & ADELINE listed on South Main St. throuth 1959 with it showing George H. died July 19, 1958 at Age 72. Also, on the Connecticut Death Index has the same death date.
Adeline's death is October 10, 1988 . Death Index shows the same- Birthdate is March 20, 1899 Her father's name is DELONG. Hope this helps!! Was wondering what you have listed for Marion's Birthday as Death Index says February 23, 1910 and Death as June 2, 1996 and she is the widow of Harold Thomas. Marion's Occupation- Officer and Executive at Industrial Sheetmetal Corp. Residence is 974 West Woods Rd, Hamden, New Haven, CT. Hope to hear from you soon.
Mary Anne and Heidi,

George H. Kuehner- The 1916-Connecticut City Directory has a George Kuehner listed.
1917-1918 Draft Registration Card George is living in Cheshire, New Haven, CT. and Margaret May Kuehner (wife) is also listed.

1920 Census- Cheshire, New Haven, CT. George and Margaret are listed with Marion-10 and Joseph-8 all born in New York.
1924-1937- George & Margaret E. Main St. CT.

This would be around the time of Margaret's Death.

1942- Draft Registration Card George lists his Employer as contact person- Miss Frances E. Grace 153 Willow St. Waterbury, New Haven, CT. and home address is 632 Baldwin

1952- Looks like George has remarried as an Adeline is listed with him in the City Directory through 1958.
Adeline's maiden name is Delong.

Yes,it does seem strange not to find a Marriage Record or Birth Records for Marion or Joseph.
I hope to hear soon from Aunt Rose (Joseph's Wife).

Anything is possible, also with such a age difference between Joseph and Georgeena, I was wondering if she perhaps lost any children during this time.
It sure would be nice to figure this out. I will continue to look for answers.

Thank You So Much for all your hard work and all the other information you have given me on the other family members. It gives me other places to look. Maybe we can even locate a Family Tree.

In the 1900 Census with Elizabeth being married to Michael Lenahan it looks like they were married for 4 Years and that Elizabeth was the Mother of 12 Children.

I will continue to look for more answers and whatever I find I will pass on to you.

Lynneen Danielson

Dear Lynneen,
Wow, it was a very long time ago that i posted.I was posting to find more info on my Grandparents, George and Margaret.Things like where & when they were born. When and where they died and of what cause. My mom is Georgeena, she is still alive, she will turn 80 in march. my mom lost her memory a few years back,so she really couldnt remember much.but she was also 8 when her mom (Margaret)died and her sister Marion raised her. Not her dad or brother.I thought that to be strange and kinda wanted to find out where her dad(George) went.I was told he remarried. I remember her telling me she had a brother Joseph.Older than her. I never new him. I did grow up knowning "Antie" Marion and her children. Marion passed away many years ago. She was in her 80's. My mom and Marion lived in Hamden CT.I understood thats where they all lived for a while with their parents before the mom(Margaret) died. My mom also said she was real young but she remembered living in New York and an antique store. but thats all i have on that. I do remember seeing pictures of a bunch of people sitting outside a store. My mom was the smallest in it maybe 2. She said the others were her Mom and Dad and her siblings and some friends. That picture belonged to Marion. As for Joseph, I have nothing on him. Like I said I never knew him.He would have been my uncle and his children my cousins. I often questioned my mom about why they never kept records or something of her family. she always said "we just didnt do that back then". But thats what im trying to do for my children. keep records and find out some history for them. But i got stuck on My Grandparents George and Margaret. I never knew a thing about them. The daughter Gladys, Rose is referring to. I dont know who she could be speaking of. my mom had no one by that name and neither did Marion. I dont have any info on my Grandparents to offer you. Thats who im trying to find out about. my mom (Georgeena) and Marion were joseph's sisters.I could give info some on them if your doing a search that way.Thank you for responding, small world. Im sorry to both of you for not getting back in touch sooner.. life is demanding right now. so everything is on hold.. But as soon as I get the info, I will post.. Marion"s birthdate must be close to right because My Mom Georgeena, Marion's sister. was born in 1927. I know at the time of their moms death(margaret) Georgeena went to live with Marion and her husband Harold Thomas. But I will get exact dates and post them. Thanks for the info Have a Blessed day, Heidi
