Kugelmann from Frankfurt am Main/Hessen Germany

I am looking for information about Moses Kugelmann of Germany. He had a son Joseph who came to the US in 1912. The Kugelmann family were bankers in Frankfurt prior to WWII. Any information information is appreciated.

Edward Kugelman Fire Department Captain from Chicago

Hi I am looking for any information in regards to an Edward Kugelman & his family. I have obtained very conflicting information and I would like to iron out what is fact. I know that he lived in Chicago and was a fire department captain, and that he was born in Chicago around 1871.
I cannot find any records to show who his parents were or when they came to the US.

He was married to Sophie Fauerbach and she died in 1959. They had two daughters: Edna Allison and Margaret(Marguerite)Francis.

I know that Sophie was born in New York around 1874-1876 & her parents were both born in Germany.
I have been unable to locate any information on her or her family.

Also Edward's family was from Germany but I have been unable to locate any records of their families coming to the U.S. or his parents place & date of death.

If anyone knows anything or has any further information on Edward or Sophie, please post.

I have seen that there is a long line of people with the last name Kugelman working in the CFD and living in Chicago,

I am curious if anyone is related to Edward??

I was a friend of a Mark Kugelman and he had a brother Brian Kugelman..He lived in Forest Hills, Queens..Mark had Grandparents that lived around the corner from him..I believe they were his mothers parents..From what I remember, his family came from Germany..His mother was in the Auschwitz camp..His fathers name was John kugelman who worked on Madison Ave, in Manhattan..He was a salesman selling hides as did Mark. I do not know if this is your family..If it is I hope they are well..I knew Mark very well..

Can you give me his name or names of any of his relatives, and approximate dates of his life. There don't seem to be to many Kugelmans - did he immigrate to US, or did his children? What were their names? I'd be interested to see if the name in my tree matches any of yours.

My grandmother was Martha (Kugelman) Steinberg. She was born in 1914. Her parents were Ida (Adele) and Joseph Kugelman from Germany. She had a sister named Hilda (Lee) who married a Harry Waterman. I am looking for this part of my family. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Nick,
I can only offer some conjecture about this, but it might be a start for you.
On this site - http://www.4crests.com/kugelman-coat-of-arms.html - the explanation sounds plausible. However, I'd read on another 'coat of arms' site some years back that the 'Kugelman' was a foot soldier who carried and hurled a small spherical bomb (the word kugel variously refers to a variety of objects having spherical or rounded shapes). I'd say we need something more official, though, than a website tale, to say we know what our surname is all about.

Thanks for the info. Those names don't seem to match my Kugelmans who were livng in northern NH in early 1900's, but I'll keep your note if my research expands further.

if you can give me some time frame i think i can help you my grand father was born in newwark nj in 1888 his name was john his parents had a farm in newark his father married a nickolas i know that my great grand father had 2 or 3 brothers thier was a alexander frank and walter and 2 sisters i know that one of the sons had a funeral home in jersey city. I don't know if this would help, but I had a book and I looked up the name Kugel...not quite the same as Kugelman...but it means strength in Greek...I thought it was interesting, just thought that may help.

i was told that it can mean bullit in german or it can be a type of pastery in the german jewish commuity in any case it came from the southeastern and southern part of germany

My grandfather, William Kenneth Kugelman, was born and livefd in Indianapolis. He passed away in 1975. His father was Frank Kugelman and his mother was Maude Kugelman. THey both resided in Indianapolis as well. He had one brother and six sisters. Charles, Hazel, Gladys, Mary, Opal, and Helen. Any information about the origin of this family would be greatly appreciated.
