I have a great-grandmother Elizabeth Anna Kurth in Chicago, born 1882. She married John Patrick King, b. 1875. Her parents, I think, were Adam and Margaret (Kurtz) Kurth, both of whom were born in Germany.

Is this the Elizabeth mentioned in your post? If so, do you have any other information related to her? I'm just starting a family tree of the King family.

So glad to hear from you! Wow you have gotten far. Bertha is a daughter of Reimers. She was born 3-26-1877 and married Dick Janssen of Fonda on 12-9-1898. They divorced and she disappeared. No one knows anything about her. Her children and grandchildren will say nothing regarding her. A bit of a mystery I would love to solve. Do you know much about Reimers wife, Fredrika? One story I heard is she was a mail order bride? Also heard an interesting story about her and the hired hand. Email me at my email address ss_brakey@yahoo.com. Hi Steph, yes we are related! Timm was my gg grandfather. We are back as far as Michel Kuhrt, no dates for him, but we know he had a son, Jurgen who married Gertrude Dunklaus in 1763. Haven't come across Bertha, who is she?

YES, Timm did have a brother named Reimer who moved to Iowa in the mid 1800s. We have made contact with Lee and Jeanie and Gwen, who presumably are related to you? We have lots of information , some going back as far as 1763, that we could send you which will connect to your family tree.

I am looking for information on my G Grandfather Gottlieb Michael Kuhrt/Kurth. Born in Schonwalde Germany about January 1852, married Marie Schulz (b. 1857 Dramburg, Pommern Germany) about 1870 somewhere in Pommern, Germany. They immigrated to the US in May of 1882 settling first in Sheboygan, WI for a few years then moved to Clinton, Barron County, WI where they spent the remainder of their years. Would love to hear from anyone who might connect to this line.

My great grandmother is Emma Kuhrt who married Ernst Drewis. I don't have much information about her, yet. One of their sons was Roland Drewis. He had two sons, one of which is my father Roger Drewis. And here I am, Jessica Drewis.

I believe that Emma and Ernst remained in Tirpoli, Bremer, Iowa until their deaths. Much of my family has not left Iowa.

My name is Heidi Kuhrt. May Dad Hans Kuhrt was born in Northern Germany, close to Hamburg before the start of WW2. Most of my Kuhrt relatives are still in Northern Germany but my dad immigrated to Canada about 30 years ago.

I know so little about the Kurth (Kuhrt) side. I do have a John Ulrich Kuhrt died 1881 in Highland, Illinois. I do not know the parents names. I have check census info and there were several Kurth families in the Chicago area. Haven't been able to tie them together. Maybe someday.

My husband's family has the name Kurth( Frederick and sister Barbara). Others may include John, Mary, Nicholas and Elizabeth. They were in Illinois from at least 1860. I have just come across papers spelling the name Kuhrt. My husband's line was in Clinton Co. Let me know if we might connect or maybe could with more info. I am just starting to investigate the brothers and sisters.

in Germany, there is no city called Wurzberg. I suppose, you were born in Würzburg, which is generally translitterated to Wuerzburg. However, in the telephone directory there is no Kuhrt listed for Würzburg. So you will have to look further. Good Luck!

Nancy, when my Mother told me her Mother's maiden name, she pronounce it "Kurth", but after her death, in going through cards such she had saved, I found one, written in German signed "Onkel Wm. Kuhrt", which is why I search under that spelling. I have not tried to check census, etc., as of yet. Maybe some day. Feel free to email me at lbarden547@aol.com
