Hello,

I'm looking for my Kiwak family who resided in or near Buffalo, NY and/or Lackawana, NY.

I have seen on ellisisland.com a Stanislaw Kiwak who was married to a Marya Kiwak - they were from Galicia and settled in the Buffalo area. I am wondering if they are a link to my great-great-grandmother, Anna Kiwak who married Joseph Fleiger - they resided in Buffalo, NY.

Any help is much appreciated...
My wife's grandmother Rozalia Orzech was born in Huta Ptrzedborska in 1902. She just died in 2001. My son and I visited the village in 2000. It's still tiny. Grandma Rozalia and her husband sent money back to the village in the 1960s to build a church in the village. Don't know much more than that.

Paul Lienert

Hi Steve,
My grandfather was also born in Hucisko in 1889. The parish church is Sw. Mikolaja in Niwiska which is just down the road from Hucisko.
I ordered microfilm #0996700 from the Family History Center and have gleaned lots of information from it about the families who lived there. The years are about 1796-1855 for birth, marriage and death.
If you do not have the baptismal record of Wojciech, you might try writing to the parish priest in Niwiska. It must be done in Polish and with very specific names and dates as his books are not indexed, plus he does not have all years available at the rectory. Depends on what you need.
The other option would be to write to the civil offices in Niwiska for the same information.
I will write to you privately, if that is okay with links and pictures of the area.
I don't have any Cwaneks directly related to me, but have a few names in my files anyway.
Regards,
Valerie

I imagine Stanislaw is a fairly common Polish name, however my Great-Great Grandfather's name was Stanislaw Kuna (b. 1884). He immigrated from Poland and eventually wound up in Michigan. He married Anna Greczekowizk (also from Poland, however US Census records have her listed as of German descent). They had 3 children while they lived in Detroit, MI. Please see the post referring to Henry Kuna--this may be of interest to you.

I am searching for information on the same family. Maybe we should swap info. I have limited information on them.
Stanislaw KUNA (b. 1884 Poland, d. 4.16.1928) married to Anna GRECZEKOWIAK (b. 1887 Poland, d. 1935)
3 children
1. Helen KUNA (b. 1912 Detroit MI, d. 1933)
2. Henry KUNA (b. 1915 Detroit MI)
3. Janina Marcella (KUNA) GOODALL (b. 12.21.1918 Detroit MI) *Name changed to Jenny

Anna remarried someone named TURSKI and had a daughter Lorraine (2.5.1933)

I have a lot more information about Janina's family, as I am her great-granddaughter. It is odd that I found your post, because I was coming here to find info on the same family.
The surname spellings included here are all verified and are correct to this family.

Heather

I am searching for any family members of Vincent and Margaret Kuna. They were originally from Hastings, Pa and moved to Chicago around 1929-1930. I believe there is a connection with my family, through my grandfather, Joseph Waksmundzki. His grandmother's name was Katherine Kuna. Vincent Kuna's daughter, Rose has been at some of my family functions over the years. John, Vincent's son atttended my grandmother's wake in November of 1961. I would love to hear from anyone to see if we can make a connection

He is from southern Poland, the town of Waksmund. It is possible the he could be since Slovakia, is not the far away.
