Robert Kuykendall, this is simply marvelous. Is Denzil E. Kuykendall born April 1898 your father or grandfather?
On the 1900 Leland, Nez Perce, Idaho census page 1B is his family: James W. Kuykendall born Jun 1866 age 34 born in Ill. Parents born in Ill. His wife is Myrtie M. born Dec 1872 age 27. born in California. Her father was born in Ill, nothing on her mother. They had been married for 6 years (ca 1894) and have four children, all living.
Elbert L. born Aug 1894 age 5, Loyd L. born Aug 1895 age 4, Denzil E. born Apri 1898 age 2 and Wayne S. born Jun 1900 age 7/12. The children were all born in Idaho. Living with them is a servant Oliver Padock, white male age 19 MO single. I have no information on him
With the above information, I was able to locate James's parents and siblings.
1870 Banner, Fulton Co. Illinois page 316, Chris (Christian Neff) Kuykendall age 31 born 1839 Ohio, wife Frances age 26 (1844) born Illinois, children Anna age 6 (1864), James 4 (1866) and Francis 6/12 (1870). The children were all born in Illinois.
In the same county and census 1870, Maples Hill, Liverpool, Fulton Co. Illinois Ira Kuykendall age 58 (1812) head of household born in PA. Value of Real Estate $8400, Personal Property $900. wife Rebecca age 54 (1816) born Virginia, living with them is William Bailey age 14 born in VA (I don't know his relationship to the family) and James Kuykendall age 85 (1785) born PA. (James is the father of Ira.)
There would be an estate record in Fulton Co. Ill especially for Ira. Also deeds for his father.
Ira A. Kuykendall married 21 Jan 1836 in Richland Co. Ohio to Rebecca Neff. They are in Fulton Co. Ill in 1860 with three children: Christian, Anna E. (married a Mr. Roberts) and Mary Electra Jane Kuykendall (married E. J. Phillips. A copy of their marriage license can be ordered from the Register of Deeds Office in Fulton Co. ILL.
Ira' father James was born in Washington Co. PA
in 1785 and died at age 97 (1882) in Fulton Co. ILL
He married I do not have any information on his wife other than her name Elizabeth Aten.
James's father Henry Kuykendall was born ca 1750 and his family in counted on the 1790 Washington Co. PA census page 251 Males over 16 (1) under 16 (2) females (1) I do ot know the name of the other male under 16.
Henry's parents are Luur Kuykendall baptized 27 Oct 1706 Dutch Reform Church of Kingston NY. and
Lena Consales Duke baptized 26 Oct 1713 DRDC NY.
Luur (or Leur) is the son of Cornelius van Kuykendall and Maretje (Westphael (also spelled Westvale or westfall). Cornelius is the son of Luur Jacobson van Kuykendall, son of the Immigrant Jacob Luursen.
Robert, I hope that I can twist your arm just a little bit as I need for you to join the Kuykendall DNA Project for which I am the Group Administrator. It is my opinion that your DNA (if you are a descendant from Denzil E. Kuykendall) will help to prove that my Abraham Kuykendall (baptized 1719 in the DRC Kingston NY and died April 1812 in Buncombe (now Henderson) Co. North Carolina as well as his brother Peter Kuykendall bapt 1733 DRC Kingston NY died 1783 Washington Co. NC (now Tennessee) are the children of Cornelius.
Participants must be a Male Kuykendall. The project is a Y-Chromosome DNA. There are three different markers which can be purchased, 12 marker, 25 marker and 37 marker. There is a $30.00 Christmas Gift certificate which the Company is offering at this time, on either the 25 or 37 marker if you are interested. If you do not feel that you would be interested in either of those, at least please join the 12 marker group. You can up grade later to a 25 or 37 marker if you care to (and I hope that you will). .
