Josephine A. Kuzma, 78, of Logans Ferry Heights, Plum Borough, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkon, Md. She was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Creighton, East Deer Township, a daughter of the late Charles J. Torchen Sr. and Helen Ann (Bobrukiewicz) Torchen. She lived for the past 10 years in Plum Borough, living prior to that in New Kensington for most of her life. She worked as a receptionist for eight years at Penn Staten University New Kensington and was also a clerk at New Kensington Pharmacy for 10 years. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum. She was also a member of Women of Moose, New Kensington, and Tarentum Eagles Auxiliary. She was a 1948 graduate of East Deer High School. She enjoyed word puzzles, crocheting and holiday dinners with her family and grandchildren. She was also a Steeler fan. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara L. (Robert A.) Gutknecht, of Arnold, Nancy L. Brown, of Oakmont, and Janet L. (Dennis) Miller, of North East, Md.; a sister, Helen (Joseph) De Mao, of Lower Burrell; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Kuzma Jr., in 1998; and brother, Charles J. Torchen Jr. Relatives and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Panachida will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by Divine liturgy in at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum, with the Rev. Wesley M. Mash officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Parastas service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Visit dusterfuneralhomeinc.com.
