These photos were scanned by Sue Erickson from the albums of Eva Leona Labrie Mannie (1866-1933)--her father Francois Marcelle Labrie settled in St. Anne, Kankakee in 1842 and lived there till he died in 1876. Then his wife Constance Lemieux Labrie went homesteading with their children to Spink County, SD, and died there in 1886.

Many of these were not labeled but the photo studio locations are noted. If you recognize them, please note it in the comments section.
Families pictured include Bourassa, St. Peter, Labrie, Lemieux, Lefort, Coz, Mannie, Remily, Blanchette, Klapperich.

looking for my father

I am looking for my biological father. I have never met him, and all I know about him is that his name might be Tony or Anthony Labrie and that he "dated" my mother during a visit to an International Longshoremen's Association Convention in Miami Beach in 1971. Apparently they met at the hotel where she worked as the convention was being held there. He was possibly from the northeastern U.S. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a relative of yours via your grandmother Kathleen's sister Marion. I met your dad Romeo when he and your mother came to Rodeo, California back in 1973. You were just a baby. Romeo was into weight lifting - bodybuilding and he taught me some of the exercise routines. Your mother Peggy aka Marguerite was pregnant. Unfortunately,I lost track of you parents. I have been trying to put together a family tree from your side of the family. My mother Florence was Marion's daughter.

I have the marriage certificate of Phillipe Labrie and Clarisse Pelletier's daughter, Hermine Labrie. She is my great grandmother and married Isadore Gamache on June 11, 1906 in Salem, MA. I do no know anything about David Labrie but I am intrigued to add Belanger to my list of surnames. I am interested to know how you determined that Phillipe migrated to Salem, MA.

I am looking for Germaine Labrie. Not sure of the last name spelling. My mother is looking for her or would like to find out about her. Germaine is her birth mother.Germaine came to Springfield, mass originally from canada and gave birth to my mom, and gave her up for adoption. That was in 1927! She believes Germaine stayed in this area. WE don't know if Labrie is her maiden name or married name as my mom was told she did marry and have more children. Helene born the july,25 1848 in St-Pascal,QC. and she died the july 22, 1922 in St-Eusebe,Qc. Found House Hold record for Elisee LaBrie it shows more siblings than you listed ... Interesting to know that again brothers married sisters. Conrad & Auguste and then Conrads sons Edmere (my Grandfather) and Edmour (twins) married Regina (my Grandmother) and Helene BLAIS (sisters).

Isabelle Dechene b. 1870 on Jan 7 1895
my family says he was also married to Maria Hervieu but I can find no record of this marriage.
Children of Conrad; Ludger, Twins Edmer (my Grandfather) and Edmour b. Oct 31 1896 Quebec , Laura, Berthe, Oscar and Yvette. Some step children and a son with second wife Leonel.
Son of Elisee b.1836 Quebec married Georgiana Bernier dit Desilets b. 1844 Quebec their children; Conrad 1869, Amanda 1865, Arthimise 1867, Oluis (or Louis) 1871, Amaryllis 1874 and Cyrille 1875. Elisee was the son of Amable Mignot (Mignault) dit LaBrie and Marguerite Collin ... this is where I loose the rest of their family. Amable is the son of Charles Mignault dit LaBrie and Dorothe Corbeau dit Deslories.

I'm working on the family of James W. Norris, grandson of Virgie's sister, Elma Iona RODGERS Norris. I'm working from a copy of material compiled by Calvin C. J. Norris. Calvin spelled the name, " Vergie" Your spelling and the spelling used by the funeral home on the remembrance card, of which I have an original, confirms that it should be, "Virgie".
What I would like to know, to begin, is if Virgie is a nickname for Virginia, date and place of marriage and basic information on your father. Also, if you have any information on your mother's brothers and sisters, that would be great. I have some information on Elma, Huggard and Nancy, but for the rest it is mostly, "born abouts" E-mail is preferred by me as means of contact.

Looking for info on the Harry LABRIE said to have married Vergie/Virgie Annestine RODGERS, daughter of William Robert Rodgers and Mary Nina KINCAID Rodgers, born 18 Jul 1916, Weyers Cave, Augusta County, VA, died 14 May 1994, Staunton, Augusta County, VA. The obituary of her sister, Elma, January 1994, indicates that she has married a La Brie and is living in Staunton. A cursory search of the internet gives Vergie"s husband's name as Harry, but gives no further information. Any further info would be helpful.

OOPS! According to census records it appears that my Frank LaBrie was married to Julia Lehey (not Mary LaMere) What a mix up! Their children include Clara LaBrie ( who married Henry LaMere)as well as Mary, Joseph(married Elizabeth LaMere), Frances,Julia ( who married Alsphonse LaMere) and Martha. They were certainly fond of the LaMere family! Later they moved to Somerset WI and then to Minnesota . Maybe this rings some bells with someone.

I have an original postcard photograph of “Amelia LaBrie – Turton, S.D.”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1905-1910, and she looks to be about age 15.

I found Amelia listed as Emilie in the 1900 census for Spink Co., SD, with birthdate Jan 1892, daughter of Arthur E. and Victoria LaBrie. South Dakota Marriages, 1905-1949 lists her husband as George Rahm, and they were married 3 Oct 1914. In Spink Co., SD in 1920 and 1930 censuses.

Napoleon LaBrie, a resident of this city, at 449 Moody street, died early this morning at St. Joseph's hospital, aged 58 years.

He is survived by one brother, Joseph LaBrie; and by several nieces and nephews, among whom is Rev. Eugene LaBrie, O.M.I., pastor of Notre Dame de Lourdes church. He was a member of the C.M.A.C. and C.C.A. French-American societies. The body was removed to the Archambault funeral home, 311 Pawtucket street, where relatives and friends may call.

I too have roots in Kaplan Louisiana. Great grand dad was blacksmith on 2nd st. Uncle Maurice Landry had hardware store on cushing and many years after his death, grand mom opened up a dress store. REGINAS also on cushing. Other side of family is Galvey Hebert Sr. owned store at very end of cushing. Great grand dad other side was mayor of Kaplan for many years. O. H Deshotels, Sr. I may be related to you as Many of the folks in Kaplan are distant relations.
