LaButte origins in France?

I just have seen your entries on the Labutte message board. Do any of you know the origins in France of the LaButte's? My name is Marianne LeButt. My Grandfather immigrated from England in 1916. I have traced the LeButt's back to 1668 in England. In old records, the name is spelled Lebutt, Lebutte, Labutte, Lebatt, Lebat. I'm told by researchers in England that this is not a British name and that my family was probably at some point, Heugonot refugees from France. I would love to research in France further but do not know where they may have come from. Our surname is so similar to yours I was wondering if any of you know where in France your surname Labutte originates?
