Further info:

Still looking for more info on these families...

Marie (Mary) Rosalie (Rosella) Wilson Lacey b.1870 d.1944 was my paternal grandmother. Her brother was William Francis Lacey, the Circulation Manager of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

She was daughter of John Lacey b.1834 d.1873 and (I beleive it may have been) Rose Eleanora Wilson.

Her grandfather, my great great grandfather, was William W. Wilson who married Catherine Hughes. The Wilson family
owned farmland where the Capitol is today, before there was a Washington D.C.

Of some interest in family lore are rich back stories of the Lincoln assasination. Members of those families related to my paternal O'Flaherty side had opposing interests around 1865. Geogianna Webster, the sister in law of my group's Thomas O'Flaherty, was the first cousin of Mary Surrat who was hanged as a conspirator in the Lincoln killing.

Georgianna was employed by St. Elizabeth's Asylum. On the day that Mary Surrat was hung, Catherine Dobbyn (the step aunt of my grandmother, was taken away and commited to St. Elizabeth's Asylum where she remained for the rest of her life.

Today, those Confederate and Union sympathizers are buried together in the same plot, next to my O'Flaherty family's graves at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

-----------------------------------

The child she put up for adoption is now named Jeffrey John Tisot. He is not looking for his birth family, he is my daughter's biological father and she is in search of her roots. She also has beautiful twin boys.

He married 7/30/1931 in White Plains, NY, to Mary Talbot Seabury b. 4/7/1907 Providence, RI, (ML states they were to move to Providence, RI with her family. ML is witnessed by Anna Marie Londergan (maybe a sister of him or Anna Torrence). He abandoned her while she was with child in 1932. I have found a Divorce Decree from 1942. Not sure why it took 10 years.

It appears that maybe he was abandoned by his parents or that one or both may have died early in his life. Census has been no help. Anyone that can help point me in a direction to find more, I am all ears.
Thanks,
Chris Lacey

Anyone who can help me find John and Elizabeth give me a comment. John was born in Ohio probably about 1830. Elizabeth was probably from Kentucky.
Anyone have an Aretus Lacey in their tree? My Great Great Great Grandfather was Aretus Lacey born 3 Mar 1805 in Broome, New York. Married 5 Feb 1825 in Chili, Monroe, New York to Hannah Van Dine Auten. Died in 1865. I have lots of info on his descendents, but none on his ancestors. His father's name was changed from DeLacey to Lacey, presumably in immigration. No first name for Aretus' father

Hello; I'm also a descendent of Thomas Lacey and Mary Leslie Lacey, through their son George and his wife Nancy Norris. I was wondering if you had any earlier data on Thomas and Mary. I live in central Illinois, and most of what I have researched has been appallingly piecemeal. I was also wondering if you had any documentation about the "overboard story" concerning Nancy Norris's voyage. It's been told as a bedtime story for at least a century now.
Thanks
Megan N. Lacey
Havana IL

Do you have any names and/or particulars? I'm a descendent of George and Nancy Lacey who traveled from Pennsylvania and settled in Bath, IL (about an hour northwest of Springfield, on the Illinois River) in 1842. George's brother Leslie also settled in the area.
There is a very curious story told about Nancy Norris Lacey's voyage from Ireland when she was a young girl.
