WILTON, Iowa Carol Joanne Duffe Kuelper LaCrosse, 72, Wilton, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at her home.
Service will be at the Grace United Church of Christ, Wilton. The Rev. Bill Anderson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Deb Mohr and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are W. David Davies, Mark Latta, Orville Elmshaeuser, Jim Gerber, Warren McConahay and Bill Lenker. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
Visitation Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton; Memorials may be made to Grace United Church of Christ.
Mrs. LaCrosse was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Wilton, the daughter of Jacob and Jessie Bennett Duffe. She married Jerry E. Kuelper on June 7, 1953, in Wilton. He died June 29, 1953, in an automobile accident while returning to O'Hare Field in Chicago where he was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. She later married Barton G. LaCrosse on July 8, 1956, in Wilton.
She graduated from Wilton High School in 1951.
She worked many years at Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative, Fritz Tax and Accounting, Baron Corp. and H&R Block in Wilton.
She was a Camp Fire Girls leader and chaperoned a group to Europe for 21 days in June 1972.
Her love of music was a source of strength during her journey fighting cancer. She sang in the church choir at Grace United Church of Christ where she was a member for many years. She enjoyed corresponding with family and friends and sharing family news with so many scattered all over the country. She was a member of the Wilton Historical Society.
Survivors include her husband, Barton LaCrosse; a daughter, Susan Bearden and husband Joe of Valley View, Texas; a son, Randall LaCrosse and wife Cathy of Hudson, Fla.; six granddaughters, Angela Pryor and husband Larry of Leander, Texas, Sarah Freyermuth of Chicago, Ill., Jessica Bearden of Valley View and Deanna, Joanna and Gina LaCrosse, all of Hudson; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jerry E. Kuelper; a brother, Allan Duffe; and a nephew, Ricky Duffe.
