Clifford Keith Ladd, the son of Ward and Nellie (Jencks) Ladd was born November 19, 1913 at Humphrey, Nebraska. He was baptized on October 28, 1914 at the Episcopal Church in Humphrey, Nebraska and confirmed on June 11, 1939 at the American Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He received his education at Albion Public Schools, graduated from Albion High School in 1931 and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year.
Keith was united in marriage to Mildred Irma Miller on June 30, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, Nebraska. The couple lived in Lincoln, Omaha, and Minneapolis where Keith worked as a shoe salesman for Edison Bros from 1931-1944. In 1944, he entered World War II with the 87th Infantry Division and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in March 1945. He was discharged in September 1945 and joined his family in Albion, Nebraska where he farmed from 1946-1951. In 1951, he became co-owner of L&S Shoes in Albion and continued until 1971. He moved from his farm to the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion in May 2006.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America (falling 2 merit badges short of Eagle Scout requirements), Albion Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #736, various Albion business groups, and the Zion Lutheran Church since 1946. Keith held various offices with the VFW and was also a council member at Zion Lutheran Church.
Keith died January 20, 2007 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, Nebraska.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of Albion, NE, 1 son: Robert Ladd and wife Katherine of Lisle, IL; 2 grandsons: David Ladd and wife Sondra of Lisle, IL; Roger Ladd and wife Brenda of Lincoln, NE; 3 great-grandchildren: Kaia, Andrew and Jared Ladd; 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Elaine Aase and 1 nephew.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
Visitation for Keith Ladd will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
