I am searching for more information on this family.
Asa Ladd b.1736 d 1775 Bunker Hill,Boston,ma
(1)married Sarah Merill--2 children: Sarah b 1758
Asa b. 1762
both born in Haverhill,Ma
(2)married Hannah Clough 5 children Richard b1766
Duston b.1768
Dudley b.1771
Merrill b. 1773
Dilley b.1775
What is of particular interest to me is that Asa died in1775, Hannah remarried in Haverhill,Ma in 1782 to a Moses Merill. Hannah died in 1783, leaving young children without a mother. 2 postings have said that Moses died in 1767 (unsourced) or in 1783 (unsourced).
Does anyone have info on Moses Merrill. He had a first marriage to Dorcus Abbott, lived in Concord and Pembroke,NH, with 2 children< Penelope and Moses. Did he keep these children with him after Hannah died? I believe that Dustan was in Argyle, Washington C.,NY in 1790 and in Brandon, Vt by 1797.
Lynn
I am the Ladd administrator for the Ladd DNA project with familytreedna. I am activily searching for Ladd men who would be willing to take the DNA test, at this time we need someone from the Ransom Ladd direct line . We are trying to find the parents and line of Ransom 1811 from Missouri. I think he is of the Kentucky line and would like to find this with the use of DNA. There is no blood that is taken from this test, it is painless with only a swab of the cheek with a cotton ball.

Please contact me if you are interested. pitter_7@yahoo.com

Hi y'all,
I am desperately seeking info on my GGM Susan Willie Ladd's (or Willie Susan) father John C. Ladd. Evidence of his marriage to GGGM Alvira is all the proof I can find of his existence. My GGM was their only child, & apparently he died either before her birth or shortly after. Family history says he died in Civil War, but dates don't quite sync for that.

I hope someone can help.

Linda

P.S.-- Alvira Kendall: B abt 1834, Ky. Father, William Kendall; Mother, Susana Ritchie. A James C. McGuire figures into this also, perhaps a family friend; Alvira stays on wiwth him & his family after John's death to raise her dtr Susan Willie.

As a hobby, I rescue old photos that have identification on them. I have a RPPC of a baby boy who is identified as Austin Ladd. It's a post card and on the back it's addressed to Mrs. A.J. Austin of Norwell, Mich. RFD. The baby is shown to be "Austin G. Ladd 7 weeks old." The stamp on it is a one cent stamp and the cancelation date is May 29, 1909.

I've done some research and he appears in the 1910 & 1930 census. He's in the Florida death index as well as the Social Security index. He was born in Michigan on April 3, 1909 and died Jan. 30, 1984 in Florida. He enlisted during WWII. His middle name is George. His parents were Leon & Mabel.

He was an absolutely beautiful baby. Nice head of hair and alert eyes.

I'd like to locate family to send this to. For details on how to obtain it, contact me at: digginroots@yahoo.com

Kathy

I'm looking for any information on the Ladd family from VA to Ky to MO. John R. Ladd (b. 1837 in KY) whom I believe was the son of Thomas Ladd (b.1809 in VA)married Mary Ann Clayton (b. 1841 in KY)and had 9 children. One son, Thomas Jones Ladd married my second great grandaunt, Elizabeth Ann Mercer (b. 1867 in KY). Thomas and Elizabeth or Eliza, were both born in Morganfield KY and both died in Southern MO. I'm not sure if the Ladd family moved to Southern MO, but I know the Mercer's left Union Co., KY and settled in Scott Co, MO around 1900.

Any information would be wonderful!!

Ladd of KY(?), TN & WA

Searching for James Frank Ladd's parents, b 1816 KY(?)d 1900 Walla Walla WA, m Sidnah Ann Leuty 1846 Rhea TN, where he was the sheriff in the 1850's. I have the family to present, but cannot find his parents or birthplace. They named a dau. Loduska, and I found a Lodusky Right Ladd, dau of James & Elizabeth(Hardwidk) Ladd, which could be his sister. The LDS pedigree shows a bro. James b abt 1813--Does anyone have more detailed information on this family so I can prove or disprove a connection? It is the only lead I have found. TIA

He married Ann Derbyshire and they had seven children: Elizabeth 1896, Joseph, 1898, Lily 1899, Peter 1901, Thomas 1905, John 1909 and James 1914. In 1901 census they were living at Billinge Rd., Pemberton, Lancs. and Peter was an underground coal miner. The family emigrated to Coalhurst, Alberta, Canada in 1912 where Peter was also a miner.

I am trying to locate family of Alvin C Ladd. I know he was born in Penn. in 1868 to Mark Ladd( Born in New York). In the 1900 census he was in Phillipines as a private during war. That census said he was in MO at time of enlistment. I also know that he moved to Mi and married Anna Fletcher by 1901. If anyone out there knows any more about this please contact me. My Mother-in-law would really love to know more about this side of her family. Thank!

Susan Ladd daughter of Thomas or Jason?

I am the great-great-granddaughter of Susan Ladd of Kentucky who married U.P. Rogers in 1873 in Trigg County, KY. Many, many genealogy researchers have listed her as the daughter of Thomas J. Ladd and Martha Pursley. However, I have found many discrepncies which contradict that information and now believe she is the daughter of a Jason and Mary Ladd from Kentucky. If anyone has any information about these individuals, I would love to discuss my information and findings with you. My grandmother and great aunt repeatedly told me that Susan was from around Princeton, KY. I find Susan living there in the 1870 census in the home of Jason and Mary. Please let me know if you have any information. Thank you.

I received a very bad scanned copy from a cousin who rec'vd from someone else. Joe was my great grandfather. I would love to have actual copies of the pictures and if anyone knows the actual name of his second wife? I was told it was Anna Langston and other records indicate it was Sally?

Nathaniel S. Ladd & Deborah Thing Mystery

I am trying to sort out a mystery involving the wife or wives of Nathaniel Shaw Ladd, born 8 FEB 1783 in Andover NH to Edward Ladd and Hannah Shaw, and died 26/29 JAN 1849 in Worcester, VT.

The Warren Ladd genealogy, among others, gives as his first wife, "Nabby" (1766-1811, m. 1798) and as his second, Deborah Thing (1781-1853, m. 1814) and says that he removed to Strafford, Vermont.

Sure enough, the Strafford vital records show two children born to Nathaniel and Nabby Ladd (Hannah b. 1808 and Mark b. 1809) and two to Nathaniel and Deborah Ladd (Polly b.1812 and Anna b. 1820).

BUT, two sources show Nathaniel Ladd marrying Deborah Thing 19 Feb 1807 in Tamworth NH by Samuel Hidden, four years before Nabby's death and one year before the birth of Nathaniel and Nabby's first child! These sources are (1) Marriages at Tamworth, NH: Copy of record of marriages by Rev. Samuel Hidden from 1792-1837, NH Granite Monthly 19:219 (2) New Hampshire. Registrar of Vital Statistics, NH Index to Marriages.

I have been unable to learn anything about Nabby or Deborah. I found a John Thing in the 1800 Tamworth census, who may or may not be her father, but that's as far as I've gotten.

Does anybody out there know anything about either of these marriages or any additional details about Nathaniel S. Ladd? Here is a link to all that I have uncovered so far.

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rpurpel...

Thanks in advance!

LADD, LEWIS, PARKER, HAWKINS, BURLESON

Hello-
I am looking for any info on THOMAS GORDON LADD born
in RI 1784, maybe Kent Co., died 1856 in Madison Co.,
NY. His wife was ABIGAIL born in RI c1783, died circa
late 1860s in Madison Co., NY (looking for her maiden
name). They had a son JOHN born in RI c 1816-1818,
daughters MARY and LYDIA born RI circa 1820, and a
daughter PHEBE born RI in 1826.

I know according to deeds in Coventry and W Greenwich,
RI and censuses in NY that the family seems to have
moved from RI to upstate NY between 1828-1830.

According to a deed in Coventry, RI in 1810 THOMAS'
middle name was GORDON (relation to GORTONS?). In this
deed he was GIVEN land from ELIZABETH LADD LEWIS & her husband SOLOMON LEWIS. From the sounds of the deed, he may have been a relative of Elizabeth, possibly a son. All three principles in the deed are listed as living
in Voluntown, CT. In a previously found deed, Elizabeth bought the same tract of land from her father JOHN LADD in 1785, in which she was listed as a single woman. If Thomas is her son, he may have been illegitimate.

I found other deeds where THOMAS had dealings with
other Ladds of the JOHN/ELIZABETH LADD family members
(as per the Warren Ladd book on the Ladd family); sometimes selling to one another and as witnesses at other
times.

Some of the other family names mentioned in the deeds
as well as the Warren Ladd book are: LEWIS, PARKER, HAWKINS & BURLESON.

It seems pretty obvious that my THOMAS LADD is
well-connected to this wide-ranging Ladd family of RI,
but I am unable to prove how.

Thank you.
Bill Ladd
Cortland, NY
Hi there I am looking for any Ladd family in Arkansas who might have a picture of my Gr Grandfather Joe Ladd or GrGr Grandfather James C or JC. Also I am looking for any family pictures of Joe's family that might have been taken. I understand that one of my relatives has a picture of Joe and I would love to have a copy since none of my family has one. I am learning alot with the help of my cousin Terry Philips and would like to learn more if anyone can help me.

Cindy
