I found your thread and saw the name Ella Ladd married Alvah D. White. Do you know the name Alvah D. White from Tolland CT? It is a possibility that he may be my biologial Great Grandfather. I have found his wife's name listed as Eila, which could have been spelled incorrectly in the cencus. Alvah would have been born around 1861. Not sure if this is a name linked to your Ladd family

Culpepper County VA Deed Book CC page 155-157:
(1808) Complainants are Margaret Lindsay Branham's older children and spouses (William Skinner & Elizabeth his wife; Jacob Ladd & Nancy his wife and Jacob Lindsey. "Margaret Lindsey widow & Relict of Thomas Lindsey Dec'd and her younger children including James, Thomas, Nimrod, Reuben and Charles Lindsey infant children of the said Thomas lindsey Dec'd were Defendants...." Also, after this matter was settled, Mrs. Branham and her children moved to Kentucky. the tax records for Clark County, KY show Mrs. Margaret Branham and several of her children (including Nancy and her husband Jacob Ladd) very close together for many years. I have not found a marriage record for Nancy Lindsay and Jacob Ladd, but expect the marriage took place in Virginia prior to Jacob Ladd's first appearance in the tax record in Bourbon Co., KY, about 1804.

Ladds in New York City Boroughs in 1800's

I am looking for anyone who has any info on a Ladds Family in New York City in the 1800's. There were 4 girls and a boy who came from England. Charlotte born about 1815, who married Stanislas Baranoski, Jane born about 1817, who was married to Charles Severyn, Elizabeth born about 1823, who married William Sontag, Mary Ann born about 1824, who married Henry P. Lunt and James Ladds born about 1817. A 1850 US Census, NY County shows an Ann Ladds born about 1795, from England, who I assume was the mother, living at that time with daughters Jane Severyn and Elizabeth Sontag. There is no other record of Ann so I assume she was visiting and returned to England. All 5 Ladds children are buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY along with Adolph Severyn and Charlotte A. Lunt. Mary Ann Ladds Lunt was my Great Great Grandmother. I would like to know their English roots?

I found your post rather interesting. I don't know why I didn't see it years ago!! Here is something for you to think about. I'm looking for John Ladd who married Bertha Dalke (Dahlke) in 1885 WI. They had a daughter Clara who married a Borwick. Clara was a widow by age 33 with 2 or 3 children (Robert & Donald is all I remember at this early hour) living in Council Bluffs, Iowa in the year 1920. I know they mostly ended up in S. California. Two Borwick's married into the Lee family. Now, here's the kicker....my Aunt Donna & Uncle Dud Lee have lived in Lebanon, Or since before or around 1954. Uncle Dud passed years ago but Aunt Donna still lives there today in the same house they have had all this time. I myself was born near Lebanon. I think we might have found a connection even as remote as it may seem. Let me know if you have any input on this. What were some of the occupations of your Ladd family? That may help me also.

Re: Ladd Family Photos

I am most interested in the Michigan Ladd photos. My husband Roy and I have been researching Gratiot Co. and Clinton Co. Ladds. Originally of Putman Co, Ohio and Virginia Ladd of 1651. Our grandmother was Vennie Disinger Ladd that lived in Detroit. Dudly was the son of Ellison Ladd,of Gratiot Co. We cannot find Vennies' first husband James B. Ladd (6-23 or 24 of 1873) or where he died. We would welcome any help. Are the photos stored in Lansing? Thanks so much. Roy & Madge Ladd. RJMML@AOL.COM

I am a descendent of Samuel Ladd and Martha Corliss, then Daniel, so we depart after Samuel. Do you have "The Ladd Family, 1890, by Warren Ladd" and "The History of Haverhill". Those are excellent books in tracing descendents of Daniel Ladd and Ann. I have not been able to concretely trace back to England. All the information on the internet shows Nathaniel and Margaret Denwood. I'm not real sure of that because in Warren Ladd's genealogy of the Ladds, I read that Margaret Denwood was married to Thomas Ladd.

Thanks for the reply, I was actually working on my tree. I am not sure yet if there is a connection, but all my line descends from Maine and New Hampshire.
Starting with: John Ladd (1689-1750)of NH, m. Elizabeth Sanborn (1692-1748); their son Nathaniel Ladd (b.1723 in NH) m. Sarah Clifford (b.1723 in NH) they moved to Mt Vernon, Maine with their son, Nathaniel Ladd (b. 1744 in NH) m. Miriam Proctor (b.1775 in NH) whose son Timothy (b.1771 in NH) married a Maine girl and the line continues from there in Maine.
If this at all ties into your tree, please let me know.

Unknown Fred "Alfred" Ladd MN, 1876 TN, 1907 IN, 1920

Hello,

Thank you for reading my post.

I am searching for my great grandfather Fred Ladd.

This is what I know:

My grandfather Larrie Ladd was his son.

Larrie was born in 1908 or 1909 in McMinnville, TN
Died in June 1974 in Hartford City, IN

Fred "Alfred" Ladd
Born: February 9, 1876 in Minnesota (My aunt said some people say in Minneapolis)
Died: August 1964 in Berne IN

Some records show his father was from Germany and his mother was born in MN.

Fred married Hallie Phillips in McMinnville, TN in October 1907.

The 1920 census lists them as being married together with four children in Delaware County, IN.

The 1930 census lists them as being divorced.

Two different genealogists have suggested that Ladd is a shortened name from another when his father immigrated from Germany. They said names were spelled the way they sounded.

Thank you so much for all of your help.

Re: LADD 's of TN

The Ladd Book shows an Elizabeth Ladd, born abt 1759, but never married. She is the 5th child listed of the marriage of Noble Ladd to Judith Dameron. This family was first found in NC in 1757 when Noble purchased land north of the Dan River from John Carmichael, which land was at that time in Rowan County. The 4th listed child, Amos, born abt 1756 married Mary Ann Carmichael (daughter of John). Death dates of Amos and Mary Ann Ladd are unknown. Deeds of 1808 and 1818 have Solomon Stone Sr. and Solomon Stone Jr as witnesses. 7th listed child, Huldah, born 1761, married Rev. Robert Majors; they lived in TN Is this helpful? Bob Ladd
