Robert L. Lafrance, 1934-2009
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Robert L. Lafrance, 74, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at his home after a long courageous battle with lung cancer, with his family at his side.
He was born on May 15, 1934 in Nashua, New Hampshire, son of Jeannette (Rodier) Lafrance. He is predeceased by his mother Jeannette; sisters, Jeanne Gendron and Rita Lafrance; brothers, Albert and Bethran. Bob grew up in Nashua and was educated in local schools. In 1951 he joined the United States Navy and also served in the National Guard.
In 1963, Bob and his family moved to Milford, CT and he worked as a textile printer in Derby, CT for 18 years. When returning to Nashua in 1981 he was employed by Digital Corp. in Nashua until his retirement. He most recently worked for Green Mountain Messenger Service.
Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, taking pride in his yard work and taking his family on vacation. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Red Sox fan. Bob had a knack for telling jokes and enjoyed making people laugh.
Besides his loving wife Lucille (Vaillancourt) of 53 years, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Randi Lafrance, of Westminster, VT; his daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Susan Major, of Nashua, NH; and a grandson, Brian Major, of Nashua, NH; a brother-in-law, Alec Gendron of Nashua; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Raymond and Gert Joyal, of Naples, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Internment will be private and held in the Spring.
