Evelyn. I am interested in finding any cemetery records/markers for this anyone in this line and I was hoping, since you are in Quebec that you might have some information. My Lagace/Meunier line ends with Marie Emilie Meunier dit Lagace
(1808 St Joachim-1883 burial St Antoine Abbe). She married Gabriel Pinsonneau/Passinault/Passino. They immigrated to the USA where Gabriel is buried as Gilbert Passino in 1887 in the Pierce Cemetery in Jefferson Co NY. Marie Emilie returned to Canada after his death, thus the Canadian burial for her. Marie's parents were Jean Baptiste Meunier/Mignier Lagace (24 Apr 1776 Quebec and died before 1835 in St Laurent). His wife was Marie Angelique Barrete (1779-1815.

I've been unable to find ancestors of Julien Lagace who was married to Marie Victoire Gagne. They are my GGGgrandparents. Lizzieanne Lagasse/William Lagasse/Firmin Lagace/Julien Lagace Sr..
This is on my mothers side.
My fathers side has the Andre Mignier Lagace lineage.
Lizzieanne was born in the Madawaska, Maine area.

If you are searching in France for info prior to Andre Megny's birth in 1620 Isle De Ri. "dit Lagace" was added to Andre's name during his military career. It means "said the Cannoneer", and was an early way to identify people.

The name in France was simply Megny, and became Megnier fit Lagace' in Quebec, perhaps because Andre was illiterate and could not correct the record (?).

Je viens de réaliser que la date que vous avez fournies (30-6-1830) a été la date du mariage de François Lagacé et Mathilde Boudreau. Nous savons que le Lagacé qui a épousé Sara FX Roy est né quelque part autour de 1833 à 1836. Je ne vois pas comment elle pourrait être le 14ème enfant, si ils se marient en 1830. Vouliez-vous dire qu'elle était l'un des 14 enfants, ou vouliez-vous dire 14e rang de naissance a été?

I just realized that the date you supplied (30-6-1830) was the marriage date for François Lagacé and Mathilde Boudreau. We know that the Sara Lagacé who married FX Roy was born somewhere around 1833 - 1836. I don't see how she could be the 14th child if they married in 1830. Did you mean that she was one of 14 children, or did you mean 14th was birth order?

Cette date de naissance fait d'elle un peu plus âgés que les autres dossiers ont suggéré. Où avez-vous trouver le lien entre Sara et ses parents? Les documents officiels? Les antécédents familiaux? J'ai un dossier de Marguerite Roy, fille de Roy FX et Sara, qui était né autour de 1854 et a épousé Cayouette Hilarion le 10 janvier 1876. Est-ce la même chose que vous mentionnez Marie est née en Juillet 1854?

Thank you for your reply. Others have suggested this connection, but I have not seen a birth date for her before. This birth date makes her a little older than other records have suggested. Where did you find the connection between Sara and her parents? Official records? Family history?

I have a record of Marguerite Roy, daughter of FX Roy and Sara, who was born around 1854 and married Hilarion Cayouette on 10 Jan 1876. Is this the same as Marie you mention was born in July 1854?

FX Roy and Sara had a daughter named Marie in Petit-Rocher NB on the 25 of july 1854.

Sara was the 14th child borned of the marriage of Francois Lagace and Mathilde Boudreau (30-6-1830 Bathurst NB)

Celeste-Anne Lagace AKA Sara Lagace

I am trying to identify the parents of my gg-grandmother, Celeste-Anne Lagace who was also referred to as Sara Lagace. She was the wife of Francois-Xavier Roy and was buried in Bonaventure, Quebec, in 1877 at age about 44 (according to parish records).

Other researchers have suggested that FX Roy was born in Petit Rocher, NB around 1834. I haven't been able to find either their marriage record or their birth records in the Quebec Catholic Parish Records. According to parish records, they are living in Bonaventure by 1858 where the birth of Marie Rufine Roy appears. The birth of my g-grandmother Elizabeth Roy (first wife of George Anglehart/Englehardt) appears in Bonaventure in 1863.

I've looked through the Bonaventure Records, as well as several of the other districts to try to find Sara's birth or marriage record, but no luck so far.

Does your Lagace line follow as current as 1820s? Supposedly my gr grandmothers father, LEVI OLIVER MILLER (changed name from LAGACE) is in Lagace line, but I can't make connection. He was born 1820 in Chateaugay NY; married Philamina Lapense in 1859 and moved to MN after 1871. Lagace is listed on my gr grandmothers marriage cert as last name. Had always been a "family story" before now, but I am thinking it is true with this mention. They knew the Patnode's, Allard's and Emard's. Thanks for any info you can provide. Elaine

Marie Emilie Meunier dit Lagace was born abt 1810 in Quebec, Canada, daughter of Jean Baptiste Lagasse dit Meunier and Marie Angelique Baret (Barette) dit Courville. She married Gabriel Pinsonneault/Pinsonneau born about 1803 in Quebec, Canada son of Gabriel Pinsonneault/Pinsonneau and Marie Vielle cit Casse. Marie and Gabriel eventually settled in Jefferson County, NY using the names of Mary and Givarow(Gilbert) Passinault/Pasnan/Passino. Does anyone have any information on this Lagace line?

Hello again Myrna. I've found a book on the history of Willow Bunch. It lists Alma as one of eight children of Albert Lambert and Marie Louise Aubin. It says that Alma was born on May 16, 1913, and that she married Victor 'Legacy' in 1927. It adds: 'They lived in Harptree, SK and had five children. Victor died in a drowning accident in Peace River, Alta., in 1955. Alma died September 7, 1957, and is burried in Ontario.'

I know that this doesn't answer your main question about Marie-Louise Ida Lagace, but I thought you would want to know these details, which may prove useful when you add them to whatever information you may already have.

Also, the Willow Bunch website gives Alma's date of birth as April 16, 1913 (see: http://www.willowbunch.ca/wb/community/cemeteries//index.php...

Hello, Myrna. I was delighted to find your message and would like so much to offer some answers to your question. Off-hand, I have no information on Marie-Louise 'Ida' Lagace, but I will be looking for some in the coming weeks. I live in Winnipeg and have access to the research materials of the Saint-Boniface Historical Society here. I can assure you that I will get back to you if I manage to find something.

I should explain my interest: my great-grandfather, Delphis Lagacé, moved from St-Barthélemy to Manitoba in 1904 with his 14 children. He was a brother of the Stanilas Lagacé who married Marcelline St-Cyr. The Victor Lagacé who married Alma Lambert was a first cousin of my grand-father, whose name was also Stanislas. My dad recalls meeting Victor in La Salle Manitoba many years ago, before Victor was married. Victor spent some time in Manitoba helping my grandfather Stanislas build his house in La Salle. (That house was destroyed in the flood of 1950.)

We do not know how his life unfolded after his stay in Manitoba, and I am highly interested in knowing what happened to the descendants of Stanilas Lagacé and Marcelline St-Cyr. You obviously know much more about this branch of the family than I do, and I would appreciate any further information you might have.

I will be attending the Lagacé family association annual get-together at the end of the month and will try to see if anyone might know something about Victor Lagacé and Alam Lambert.

Marie-Louise Ida Lagace, daughter of Marie-Jeanne Alma Lambert and Joseph Victor Richard Lagace, was born about 1929, in either Radville or Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Simeon "Sam" Belliveau, in about 1934, and moved "back east" (either Quebec or Ontario), in about 1936-7. Marie-Louise is thought to have been known as either Ida or Mariette Belliveau. We think she was married, but we don't know her husband's name. She is believed to have lived in Montreal in 1984.

Ida/Mariette's mother, known as Alma, was born in Willow Bunch (aka Talles des Saules), Saskatchewan, in 1912 or 1913, the daughter of Albert Joseph Lambert and Marie-Louise Aubin, who were married 18 Sept 1899, in St-Norbert, Berthier, Québec. Ida/Mariette's father, known as Victor, was born 18 Dec 1889, in St-Barthelémy, Berthier, Québec, the seventh of 14 children of Leon Stanislas Lagace and Marcelline St-Cyr. Victor Lagace died in 1937, in Waterways, Alberta. Alma died in Vancouver, in 1957.

Victor and Alma had five children: Richard Victor, b 1928, d 1978; Marie-Louise Ida, 1929; Henri Albert (Bert), b 1931 d 2007; Henri Alfred, 1932, died in childhood; and Delphus Jules, b 1933 d 1998.

My father, the baby of the family, was adopted in 1934, the day after his first birthday. Mariette was his only sister, and we would be grateful for any information about her or her family.

Any information about my grandmother's birth parents and family would be greatly appreciated: Irene Legace White was my grandmother's adopted, maiden name. Irene Legace was born Nov. 14, 1909 in Holyoke, MA, to Rosanna Legace (whose birthplace is Canada). The birth certificate does not list a first name for my grandmother, and her father is not listed on the birth certificate. The date of record of the birth certificate is Feb. 28, 1910. A hand-written copy of (presumably) the original adoption record (which itself may have been a hand-written document) states the adoption occurred on Feb 16, 1910 in Holyoke, MA, and at the top of the hand written document it states that it is "Copied". It states "This is to certify that I give this baby, Irene Lagace[,] to Mr. + Mrs. Edward S. White of Northamption", MA, signed by "Mr. Pete and Mrs. Rosana Lagace" and witnessed by "Mary Rosazz[,] Georgina Rouf[,] Delima Lagace". It also states "Miss Rosana Lagace gave this Irene Lagace to Mrs. M. White to never return her", witnessed by "Mary Rosazz[,] Georgina Rouf[,] Delima Lagasse". Irene C. Dawson died in February 1980 in Willimantic, CT. She used a new middle name after she was married to my grandfather (Clifton S. Dawson), rather than "Legace" or "White", but I don’t know what the "C" stands for.

I am looking for information on my Great Grandparents. Their names are Joseph Lagacé, who married Béatrice Bourdon. My Grandfather was Lionel Lagacé, who married Yvonne Hamel on October 29, 1938. It is said that Joseph and Béatrice had 7 children. 2 other that I know of are Adrienne Lagacé who married Jean-Raymond Seers on November 5, 1932 and Ovila Lagacé who married Fleurette Desmarais on August 1, 1936. I don't believe you will find any more children unless it is with a different wife, Adele died 2 Oct 1850 in Paspebiac, Quebec.
We are also researching the Lagace line. Any info you might have would be appreciated.

But most important... BOURDEAU dit JUNIER... only found in the 1700's in Laprairie & Chambly when I look for female with the Junier name... but also found in St-Constant & L'Acadie, one time each, but 4 times in Laprairie with a male search and all but one came up as BOURDEAU dit Junier...

Seems that the "dit nom" (aka) Junier appeared around 1730 in the Bourdeau family and is not widely use either... just a few of them used it... only 4 or 5 men used it pre 1800 and only one used it once between 1800 & 1850.

That could be a big part of why you did not find it yet...!!!

Can anyone tell me when and where Jean Baptiste Lagace Mignier Meunier married Josephte Junier and who their parents were?

His son Joseph married Isabelle (Elizabeth) Lariviere on Feb 14, 1825 at St Hilaire, Rouville, Quebec
