I corresponded with Lillian in the 1980's regarding her famous uncle Nap Lajoie. She and my mother in law were good friends in the 1950's. :i;;ian gave my wife a signed baseball by Nap Lajoie in 1955

I am from the Woonsocket Rhode Island area where Lillian lived. She died here a couple aof years ago.

My great grandmother was Eva Lajoie Nault, sister to Ida. Ida does have alot of brothers and sisters. There was 13 children in all. I am from Massachuesetts , visiting Montreal now 7/13/09.

my family is buried in Notre Dame Cemetary in Worcester. Grandfather Joseph W. Lajoie ,born 1871 ; his wife Esmeralda Bousquet, born 1873 . Joseph Lajoie, his father born 1840 ; his wife Edmire Vein(Vien) born 1844 . They are buried in the St. Anthony section @ Norte Dame . Incidentally my family is related to Nap Lajoie the baseball pitcher who is in the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Last time I was there a large portait of him was hanging in a stair/way larger than life.embers of their family. Obviously related .

Other names on one of the large family monuments are AUGER / LAROCHE / and PERREAULT along with members of their family. Obviously related .

Here for a few more days . According to a cousin we living relatives here in Montreal ; unable to get in contact with him as is in Switzerland and not responding to my e-mail .

I'm looking for Ezra Pike's wife, Mathilda Lajoie. She was born on 1854 at Clinton, NY and died in Haverhill, MA. The only information I need is her parents, William Lajoie and Mathilda Gordon. Both was from NY.

I am also searching LaJoie, but the Hilard LaJoie I found in the 1900 census was under Hilard LaJoy born 10-1854 Ely Marquitte, Michigan says his wife is Alice. Are these the same people? I am researching Nora LaJoie who was married to Edlore St Andre. Can anyone help?

I just found your message. I am the granddaughter of Ernie LaJoie who was, indeed, a judge in Detroit. I have a lot of disorganized information on the LaJoies. I see someone informed you of the parents of the Homer et al on your list. I assume that you realize that most of the names you have were spelled incorrectly when transcribed from the original census. What state were they from? Were they ever in Canada? Did they ever use the name Lovejoy? My family were in New England, and Ct. Somehow ended up in Canada where Ransom was born in 1799-1800. Mother was Anna, father Moses, I think. Let me know if this is familiar.

The relative of yours would be much later than mine. Seems sad she had 7 children and then died at 37. Patsy

Debbie, you should contact my mother, Rose Blocher. She is Martin Lally's daughter. She has Rose Lajoie's death certificate. I believe she also has census information. Joseph Lajoie and Angele Morin had 9 children one Napoleon Lajoie, another Joachim Alphonse Lajoie who married Amanda LeFebvre. Their child was Albert A. Lajoie who married Eva Getchell who had Alfred Julien Lajoie. So the story you were told was true, you are related to Napoleon Lajoie but he is not the famous baseball player.

This is the information I've gotten from my brother (he got it from a family relative):
This particular part was written in my baby book by my mother:
and was baptised at St. didace on the 28th January.
He married at St. Didace on the 11 January 1897 a Josephine Provost, daughter of Fancois Provost and d'Amerence Boucher.

Joseph Romulus, our father, sired 11 children named: Joseph, Helene, Eleanore, Dora, Maria, Leontine, Eva, Florian, Rita, Zoel and Raymond.

He and Josephine and children at that time, came to the U.S. in 1913. Lived in Southbridge, Mass., Central Falls, R.I., Daneilson and Elmville, Connecticut.

Joseph R. Lajoie bought a home in Elmville, on May 16, 1925 from Walter and Sophia Sroka. The Sroka's had had the property only one year when it came into his hands.

On March 27, 1937, Joseph R. Lajoie made an official will, leaving everything to his wife Josephine, our mother. He died in January of 1938 and is buried at St. James' Cemetery, Daneilson, Conn.

My grandmother Jennie Lajoie was born in New Brunswick Canada around 1874 in the month of June.She died in Fitchburg ,Ma around 1913.I believe she had Lajoie relatives living in that area of Ma. I have no other information about her early years.She was married to an Edward Harrison and had 5 Harrison children, Margarete, Edwin, James, Alfred and Janie(or Jennie).She married my grandfather ,Alexander James Humphrey in 1906 in Nassua, N.H. My mother Julia Ellen Humphrey was born in May of 1907 in otter River , Ma and her younger brother Joseph W Humphrey was born 3 years later.Jennie died in childbirth when my mother was 6, around 1913.

My Mother (Leota Lajoie) is the daughter of Charles H Lajoie, I do have a picture of Charles and his Mother Mary Deflaney( she remarried William Deflaney after the death of Louis, also buried at the Walker Cemetary--Her madien name was Mary Ann Wallis- born June 7, 1830 in Missouri died Dec 30 1903 in Walker Oregon Married Louis Lajoie January 10, 1848 in Buchanan Co, Missouri. Mary is the daughter of Dury Wallace (Wallis) and Eunice Caldwell. Louis Lajoie is buried in the Pioneer Cemetary Brooks, Oregon.

There were many of them in the family, and I have a picture of all of them when they were young, a family picture. to my knowledge so far, no one has a tree. At least not with the services I pay to belong to.

For the past 10 years I have been doing my family tree, and only this week got serious about my mothers side, since the other side went way back to 1600 in virginia, and we found some pretty cool relatives. And then back to the old countries.

But, If I can find Homer's dad's name, I think I have the family they belong to, then I have a tree Waaaaaay back on the lajoies. But, the name might have been lagou, and lots of other spellings.

I have a couple pieces of furniture that were aunt clairs, I still remember her (I am 59) and their house in Detoirt.

Apparently, they all moved to Saginaw in 1900, where there were other lajoies, then, when homer died, I think some of the kids went to Detroit. (I call everything south of flint detroit!) My mother sister ceil lived with aunt clair, she never married either. Francis's brother doone Don, dunne, married my aunt ceil's mother, she died, then married HER sister, to make my mother her sisters first cousin too. I think...

What else. Oh, I remember my mother saying that Uncle Leo and Ernie (I think) were judges in detroit. Do you know anything about these folks? I talked to one of the brothers in the late 1980s about family tree, he was living in Flordia at the time, quite a character, as was my grandfather don, so I assume your father francis might have been too, they seemed to all have a sense of humor, he said they came from Three Rivers in Quebec, which is
Trois Rivieres, St Maurice, Quebec, Canada the french way of saying it. I need your francis's father (Homer) father name. How about where Homer was born. ? Or where he was married? Got anything?

I also found old family stories to usually be true. Mom said that her dad said he was a cousin of Nap Lajoie, the famous baseball player. (Took my kids to see his display at Cooperstown.)

There is an Octiva Lajoie in my family tree. I am the grandson of Anna (Joyal) Lajoie she married J Alphonse Lajoie. We are realtives of Napoleon (Larry) Lajoie, of Rhode Island. My mother tells me that are relatives came down from St. Marie Canada. I have also been told that our ancestry goes back to King Pepin.

I am so excited about this. My line came from early Mass, ct, Maine and Canada. The Rhode Island Lovejoys that we have are named Ransom Dunn Lovejoy and one ther with Ransom that I can't remember right now.

My ggf Ransom Lovejoy was born in Elizabethtown,Leeds and Grenville, Canada. This is Brockville at the present day.
Earlier in my research I was intrigued with Lajoie, but there weren't many sites I could use in Canada.

Now there are quite a few. The other day I saw a Ransom Lajoie in the messages.

My line is much earlier than yours. Their names were Ransom, Moses, Nathan, and Roseana.

How early were your Lajoies in Canada--and where.
When did they come to the U.S. I think my Lovejoys were in Canada in about the 1700's. Seems they were in Quebec for some time. They eventually returned to the U.S. in about 1814--went to Ogdensburg, New York.

Give me any clues you can and I will see what I can find that might give us some commection.

Anything after my grandfather I'm not too sure about, other than his dad was said to have died 2 months before he was born. This was info that I was given by my grandmother. Didn't get really interested in geneology until after my grandfather passed away, so I never got a chance to ask him any specific questions. Jennie Lajoie ,born about 1774, married an unknown Harrison in early 1890s.They had Marguerite I,1894,Alfred W 1896,Jennie(Janie) 1897,EdwardJ 1898,and James 1899. In 1906 Jennie married Alexander James Humphrey and they have daughter, Julia Ellen born 1907 in Templeton ,Ma.In the 1910 US Census,Alex and wife Janie(Jennie) are found in Fitchburg Ma.with the 5 young Harrisons and Julia.Alex and Jennie have son later, Joseph W Humphrey.Jennie dies between 1913 and 1914.Apparently this family becomes separated.Julia was my mother and told of a difficult childhood, after her mothers death.She often spoke of Marguerite, who married a Gorecki and had at least one son Joseph, who visited Julia(Hunter) in Halifax during WW2.But she did not mention other half siblings by name.I do remember she had said she had 2 half sisters.Any Lajoies, Harrisons Humphreys or Goreckis aware of any of these people, please contct me.

Seeking info on my Mother in laws family. Her parents were Francis and Alice (Ellsworth) Lajoie. Francis, his sister Claire along with their parents Homer and Elloise (Larondeau) Lajoie came to MI from Canada around 1900. They were living around Saginaw on the 1920 Census. Frances' with died quite young and their children were raised by his sister Claire. Francis never remarried. He and Alice are both buried in Detroit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My husband would love to know more about his family.
