Looking for any information on BELLE LaMARR. She came to White Oaks,New Mexico via train from St. Louis,Mo...date undknown,with her friend,Lil Rogers.
She opened and operated the Little Saloon in White Oaks.
She is listed in the book by Henry James,"Madame Varnish and the golden era". It is believed this book is out of print now.
Belle is believed to have left White Oaks and gone to San Fransisco California and possibly married Andrew Joe Duncan in March 1921.
There is also a BELLE LaMARR who died in New York City in 1972...don't have any idea as to who this may be,but the dates of her birth and death may fit the person I am looking for 1889-1972.
Belle originally worked at the Palais in StLouiss,Mo. and went west after reading a newspaper article about miners wanting girls and women in the mining camps of the west.
