The Lamberson Family was chronicled by my second cousin Lloyd Lamberson, Ormand Bech, Florida, deceased. George Washington Lamberson was my Great Grandfather. He was a Civil War Vet, 209th Reg. Co. "C". His daughter, Pearl Leticia Lamberson-McCann was my Grandmother who lived to 102 years of age. Her family was raiseed in Locke's Valley also known as "Upper Black Log Valley, PA. They resided in Harisburg, Homestead, and Shade Gap, PA. Prior family roots may be traced to the Mayflower, John Brown, and Capt. Joshua Brown,American Revolution, Cumberland Vol., 1781-1783.

Elizabeth Lamberson, wife of George LAMBERSON Killed in 1912

...from the archives in Oklahoma City, OK:

The Daily Oklahoman
Tuesday
06-18-1912
p.12/12

MRS LAMBERSON KILLED AT DENVER

Mrs Elizabeth Lamberson, for many years a resident of Oklahoma City,
who now resides in Denver, Colo, was run down and killed by an auto
truck in that city last Saturday. Mrs Lamberson stepped in front
of the machine from the curb and never recovered consciousness after
the machine had struck her.

At the time of Mrs Lamberson's death, neither her daughter who lives
in the country near Denver nor her husband, who was employed in
construction work somewhere in the city, could be located by the
police or hospital authorities. The only relative to be found was
her mother, 91 years old, who makes her home at 1420 Washington.
Because of this woman's advanced age an effort is being made to keep
from her the knowledge of her daughter's death for fear the shock
might prove fatal.

The deceased, who was 55 years old, was the wife of George Lamberson,
a carpenter, one daughter, Miss Myrtle Lamberson, was graduated from
the Oklahoma City highschool in 1907, and another daughter, Mrs
Ben Bergman (hard to read), lived at 1814 West First street, this
city, until last March.

***posted for genealogical purposes only; no relation***

Hello,

I am just starting my journey into my Lamberson roots. My paternal grandmother was Mabel Julia Lamberson b. 8 Apr 1911 in the Huntingdon Co., PA. area. She had two younger brothers; John Lamberson (livied entire life in PA) and Donald Lamberson (killed about 20 - 25 yrs of age about 1950) in log trucking accident in PA. I know that my her mothers family name was STUNKARD.

Might you have any information to help get me started?

Look forward to hearing from you,
Micki Folk
msmf61@yahoo.com

Re: Lamerson,Lamberson,Lambertson, howell

Hi,
My grandmother was Amanda Greer. Her maiden name was Lamberson. I believe her Father and mother were Francis and Mary. I have some papers handed down to me concerning the Howells. One thing I do remember is that there was a letter, I believe from her brother, who said that they were from the Royal house of the Stuarts (that is how it was spelled) At one time I had that letter in my possession, but I gave it back to my Grandmother and I was never able to find it after she died. I probably have a copy somewhere, but have not been able to find it. But I have not looked hard either. I believe my grandmother came from Virginia and the Shenandoah valley. Amanda married Lee Greer. They had two sons Harry and Clarence (both deceased). Amanda and Lee lived in the Tieton, Natchez, Yakima area. I remember Grandma talking of coming west in a covered wagon. She was not fond of Indians since apparently she had to sleep in trees and hid from them in here youth. I will try to find more information. Heritage was important to my grandmother!! and she was very English, not in accent, but in mannerisms. She was proud of being an American, but also of her heritage. I have a clock she gave me with the promise that I would only hand it down to another Greer. My son has recently had a son, so I will get to hand it down to my grandson. Otherwise I would have handed it down to my brothers son. BTW my brother's name is Lambert Lee Greer. Named after the Lambersons and my granddad. I would be interested in any information you might have. We live in Spokane, Wa. Dean Greer

I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

Re: LAMBERSON

There were Lamberson (various spellings) families in what is now Shenandoah and Page Counties VA. Jeremiah Lamberson died about 1828 in what is now Page County, VA but was Shenandoah County at that time. He was an iron worker at the Isabella Furnace. Most of this family continued through the years with furnace, iron and mine work.
His daughter Hannnah who married William Peters was my ancestor.
Jeremiah also had a son John Lamberson who married Rebecca Batman in 1812.
Also a John Lamberson was born in 1834 who I think was the son of Richard Lamberson This John went to Lawrence County, Ohio. He had a son John born in 1856. Let me see what else I can find to see if there is any connection. Carole

Unnamed son of Lawrence Lamberson (b.1747)??

I notice that in several people's information on Lawrence Lamberson that they include an unnamed child or son, some say born in 1775.

I have today seen reference of a Richard Lamberson of Bedford Co.,PA, who was newly married and had a son named Samuel but died in a barn raising there before 1792.

As there were no other Lambersons.Lmbertsons/Lamisons/etc. in this particular county during that time, I am compelled to ask of those who have better information what the source is of the information indicating Lawrence Lamberson had an unnamed son as indicated.

Could anyone with source information on this Lawrence Lamberson's children, and particularly this unnamed child, please reply or contact me with the details of this child?

Thanks,

Greg Lamberson
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~glamberson/

Vanessa wrote, "I am looking for information about my family ..."

Vanessa, in 1930 (the most recent year for which census data has been released to the public), there were over 1400 Lambersons in the US.

903 Lambersons are listed in the Social Security Death Index.

If you'd like some help learning about YOUR Lamberson line, it would be helpful if you could ask some specific questions and provide some names and at least an idea of when the people you're interested in were born. For example, if you know when your LAMBERSON grandfather was born and where, it might be possible for a volunteer on this list to find his family in a census or other resource.

Children of Lilly Lamberson

Lilly had nine children. Grover is my Grandfather. He had eight siblings. The oldest was Emily whose nickname was “Nell,” then Emory was born. Third was Amos whose nickname was “Doc” and fourth was John. Next came William whose nickname was “Bill” and Walter whose nickname was “Walt”. Seventh was Peter and eighth was Robert who died in 1918 from the Spanish Influenza. After Grover was born in 1892, his nickname became “Ed”.

Peter Hess and Lilly Lamberson Hess moved to Oklahoma from Indiana. They were farmers and Oklahoma was being settled at that time, so the land was free to people who were willing to settle there. They made the famous land run on the Cherokee Strip and settled a farm near Enid, OK.

So glad to find Lori Miller and Cindy Hess - Davis. Cindy is also Grover's gran-daughter, great gran-daughter of Lilly. I will share information and photos and hope to learn more about the Lambersons.
Orlando, Frank "Glen" and Paul C. Lamberson of MO and OK (Tulsa/Catoosa area)

Seeking any information on these brothers. Their father is unknown. Their mother was Louella "Ella" Wood, daughter of John B and Susan "Emma" (Sewell) Wood. The couple was married, likely in MO ca 1890's and this is where the boys may have been born. Ella was from Taney Co MO, but they were living in Isabella, Ozark Co MO prior to removing to Indian Territoy (later OK) in 1898. Ella's parents died in Catoosa. Ella, her parents and 3 sisters are buried in Catoosa. Ella is listed as "widowed" in the 1910 census and she and her boys are living with her mother and sisters in Catoosa. Ella died in 1929. Glen Lamberson likely died in Tulsa in 1968. Any information on any of these family members is appreciated.
