Gabrielle, Amsiphon, (A)dolphus Lambert families

Have discovered on the 1870 Assumption Illinois Census these three Lambert families. Listed 10, 15, 16. Most of the names are of French origins. My family tree is Adolphus Lambert Family. Gabrielle b.1837 his wife Parmelia b.1843
Daughters Alphonsia, Armenia, Sons Aplhouse, Omsiphor.
Amsiphon b.1834 his wife Flora b 1845. These names appear on no other censuses in US or Canada. Does anyone know what their Americanized names would be.

Zack and Joseph Lambert or Lambeth, Scotland, NC, IL 1800, 1832, 1867.

Has anyone ever found any information about a Zack Lambert or Lambeth, bc1800 Scotland, immigrated to the North Carolina c. 1814, back to Scotland for childhood sweetie, back to NC where they proceeded to have 9 children, mostly sons. That is the great family story of how we got to America, and I can't find a bit of evidence to prove it.

I am supposed to descend from Zack's son Joseph, bc 1832 NC. *MY* Joseph appears in records only once, when he married Martha Elizabeth "Bettie" Chaney on 8 OCT 1867 in Ashely, Washington, Illinois. They moved to Randolph Co., AR c. 1880.

A possible brother/uncle/cousin to Joseph is Robert Lambert or Lambeth, Physician, who lived in Lawrence and Randolph Cos., AR but was born in NC c. 1830. There are stories of a relative called Doc Lambert.

I'll post a separate query detailing the children of Joseph Lambert.

Ruth Lambert was first married to Charlie Whitworth. And, then to Gilbert Berryman. She had several children with Charlie Whitworth. I would appreciate hearing from descendants of any of them. Ruth was born in 1895 and died in 1959 in Quinlan, Hunt County, Texas. I am interested in her Lambert family.
Carolyn Johnson
hookemlrj@suddenlink.net

Lamberts, Croxton Norfolk England

Hi has anybody come across a Pheobe/Phebe Lambert. Born in Croxton c 1811. My family comes down from George Lambert born Croxton 1781. Pheobe married a William Smith in 1834 in Thetford, Norfolk, England. They later emigrated to Tasmainia. The population of Croxton would have been less than 400 around the time of her birth so i find it difficult to think she is not related some how to my family. She may be the daughter of Georges brother Christipher born Croxton 1786 but i don't have any info on him except his birth.
Any info would be great.
Thanks Paul

Ohio Lambert "Brick wall" - help needed!

Ok - Can of you genealogy gurus help me by suggesting some alternative avenues I might try in order to scale my "brick wall"?

Clare Hattie Lambert was my ggrandmother, All I know of her is that she was born approx. 1875 - I think in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. She married Jacob Fried/Freid around 1894 - most probably in the Madisonville, Ohio area. She had 12 children - her first being my grandfather, George Jacob Fried (named for his father). The only other information I have on her is that she supposedly left her home at a pretty young age because her mother had died and her father remarried a new woman whom she did not get along with. So, according to my grandfather, she left home (ran away) and eventually ended up working as a domestic for the "president of the Pennsylvania Railroad", where she met her future husband, Jacob (who was a meat deliverer/butcher at the time). I have been unable to find out her father or mother's names - or if she even had any siblings. My mother and grandfather said never spoke at all of her origional family.

I have searched census records with no luck. That darned 1890 census would definitely have been useful here! The 1880 census isn't leading me anywhere definitively, either. The 1900 census where she is now married to my ggrandfather only states that her parents were both born in Ohio - for whatever accuracy value that has. I haven't been able to find any records online of marriage between she and Jacob. Her death records do not list her parentage and there are no wills/land records that I can find for her - from what I understand the family was not well off and didn't own much anyway, they always rented their homes. I haven't been able to find an obituary or anything, which doesn't surprise me as I doubt the family would have spent money on something like that, considering their meager circumstances. So... that leaves me staring at a huge brick wall!!! Please...Are there ANY other obvious avenues of research that I should look into which I may be overlooking? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Diane

Elisabeth married Thomas Marrott(Marriott) in Sutton upon Trent, Nottinghamshire on 20 Feb 1803. They seem to fit, but I have been unable to find anything else to tie them. Sent for all the films I could find of Ossington, and there do not seem to be any records of births or deaths--only marriages. Help would be appreciated.

They then married and lived in Centerville, Mississippi until 1911 when they both went back to Canada where Marie, my grandmother died in 1925. My grandfather died in 1940. I am trying to find out dates, Marriages, names of their parents backwards. I can come forward for 6 generations. I am trying to go backward maybe to the 1600's
when the Gauthiers arrived and then the Lambert's maybe as early as 580 settling in Quebec, Canada. They all spoke French and were farmers. I think you can help because Silas and Paul Lambert were 18 when Marie, their mother died and Manda was 16. I feel certain that they moved with their mother when she went back to Quebec.Thank you in advance
lenniedcajun@msn.com

I'm new to searching on the Internet. Decided to try to find some of my grandmother's history. The story I remember is that my grandmother, SARAH JAME LAMBERT DAVISON (b. 1-22-1887), was the first on in her family born in the United states. Her parents were Thomas and Mary (Wigley) Lambert from District of Tredegar, County of Monmouth, Penmark Sirhowy, Wales. The parents of Thomas were Henry Joseph and Mary (James) Lambert. Mary Wigley's father was Edward Wigley. Anyone know any more??? Thanks.

I am looking for any information that anyone has about my great-great-grandfather, James Lambert. All I know is that he married Virginia McDevitt in Tuscarawas County Ohio on 10/16/1883, and that they had at least two children: James Chester Lambert, b 9/20/1884, and Maud E Lambert, b 5/22/1886. I know nothing else about him and would like to find out more, both before and after this wedding. The only other information I have is that his wife Virginia was re-married by 1890 to Emmett Harvey, b abt 1859, and that they had at least one child together, a son, John M Harvey, b abt 1891. If anyone has any info about this James Lambert, please contact me.

Jacob Lambert B. Ger 1840 D NYC 1880's

Would like to request anything known regarding Jacob Lambert/Lampert who lived on Cherry Street in Manhattan in 1880. He was a clerk in a store and died in the early 1880's. Census records indicate he was born in Germany and that both his parents were born in Sweden. His wife was also born in Sweden--she had died by 1880 leaving Jacob with four sons--George, Jacob, Henry and Fred.

LAMBERT CREST

"ARMS: Argent, on a bend engrailed between two lions rampant sable three annulets of the first.

CREST: a demipegasus, wings expanded ermine.

MOTTO: None recorded. Mottoes did not become popular until long after this arms came into use. Under heraldic law any user of any arms may adopt and use any Motto desired.

Authority: Burke's "General Armory", 1878 edition, p. 579.

NOTE:
The first description appears in the Visitation of London which was made in the year 1568, and in this official document are mentioned Richard Lambert of Kirton, Lincolnshire, his second son, John, citizen of London, and Richard, Alderman of London in 1568. The arms was almost a century old, therefore in 1568. The family descended from the Kirton line, purchased the estate of Boyton, in Wiltshire, in 1572. The second description covers the arms of this line, the sole difference being in the metal of the Annulets, originally silve and changed to gold."

John Lambert 1656

I think I may have solved the mystery of the elusive John Lambert whom many think was born in 1656. There is evidence to suggest that this is a death date for him as I found a John Lambert on the ship's passenger list of 'John of London' sailing from Hull, England to Salem, MA in the summer of 1638. It shows him in order:

Lambert, Francis
Lambert, Jane (Barker)
Lambert, John
Lambert, Thomas
Lambert, Ann

It is my feeling that John is traveling to the New World with his parents and siblings. Thus it appears that this family is the first in the New World unless someone else has an earlier date than 1638.

Maria (Lambert) (Mack) Hildreth; connection to Florence Adell (Hart) Mott ?

I just received information from obits on the Florence Adell Mott I have been chasing for years and find that she was born Feb 1855 in NY to Truman A. Hart and wife Esther E. (---). Florence md. William H. Mott ca 1881 and they had a son Truman A. Mott.
My question about Florence is this: what was her connection to a Maria (Lambert ) (Mack) Hildreth? In the will of Maria who died 1888 she left $50.00 to Florence Adell Mott, no relationship mentioned as was done with the others to whom she made provisions. Somewhere in my Mack/Almy ancestry there is a known but unknown Mott family connection but it continues eludes the two of us who have some photos and other items that prove there is a connection but we just cannot find it. Also, the middle name Adell has been used by others who were known Mack descendants connected to my line/ancestry.

Am hoping someone can finally solve this mystery....
