Newhaven Colony kept very good records. It's seems likely that because the "Great Shippe" was a comercial venture that a copy of the manifest including passengers would be on record some place. Does anyone have any idea where such a document would be; if one still existed?

Thanks for your message. My information is that John Lambroughton was married to Elisabeth Learmont. They had 3 children: David (1833), Thomas (1835) and William (1839). William (Lambroughton) Lamberton, married Mary Boyd(1840 - 1893) Jan 23, 1857 and they had John (1858), David (1860), William (1863), Hugh (1865), Thomas (1867), Samuel (1869), James (1872), Elisabeth (1874), and Elisabeth (1884).
My family comes from Samuel (1869) who came to Canada with his wife, Amelia Shimmin (b. 1875 Isle of Mann) and their children, Christiane, Amelia Mary, Douglas(Samuel Jr.), William and Eric.

I believe we are from the same line, although I am from Thomas (rather than William) who married Janet Boyd. They were married in Kilmarnock.

I haven't been able to find John Lamroughton's parents, however I have a marriage date for him and Elizbeth Learmont - May 28, 1830 in Kilmarnock. I don't know where I received this information from though as I haven't noted it.

I am descended from Isabella Lamberton (last in our Lamberton line, who's father was Thomas (your Williams brother). Do you have any information to share? Would be very interested. I have Thomas and William marrying sisters - Thomas m. Janet Boyd (they moved to New Zealand), and William m. Mary Boyd.

I have two items I would appreciate any enlightenment or discussion.

1. A number of web sites attribute George Lamberton as being the captain (master) of the ship Hector in Winthrop's fleet.
Are there any documents verify this as a fact?

2. Having lived and worked on Long Island Sound near New Haven for a number of years I feel strongly that Lamberton's ship probably never made it out past Plum Gut (the "race").
Does anyone have any additional information on this probability?

George Lamberton, whose roots we can trace back to England was the founder of Philadelphia in 1638.
The only links I have found with the Lambertons in Virginia would be the place name Kilmarnock, on the northern Neck of Virginia.

Dear Maria - many thanks for your reply.

I have several connections with the Lambertons - the most specific is through the former Mayor of Philadelphia and I am seeking to complete a list of his descendants. I am not sure if you have this information, but I understand that there were five children, one girl and four boys; but at present have not much further detail. Anything that you can add to this part of the genealogy would be appreciated.

Also, through my mother, my grandmothers half cousin, Anne Neill married a Robert Meaney, here in Belfast. After her death in 1942, he married a Mary Scott Lamberton from Gortinreid. They had several children. I met her several years ago when she was at an advanced age and blind, but she was interested in the family hisotry, but at that time I was concentrating more on the Neills rather than the Lambertons, but I konw that she was a native from Gortinreid/Eglinton Co. Londonderry branch of the family. I don't konw if you have her on your genealogy.

Finally then many years ago I met a Mrs Anita Doyle, who was related through the McCurdy line - but she was also seeking out details of her Lamberton family connection and it was thorugh her that I first make the Gortinreid connection. She visitied the homestead in about 1989.

I don't know if this name means anything to you either.

Anyway, I would be delighted to hear further from you on any or all of these specific queries!

We are researching the Lamberton line. Three brothers, Robert, John and James left Ayrshire, Scotland about 1680, for Northern Ireland, two near Derry, one on the Caausway. Robert E. is decendant of the brother James. We have done rather extensive research, and visited Derry last year and the old Homestead. What ever help you may need, just Email. We have Robert E. married to Mary McCurdy, daughter of Daniel and Mary McCurdy who appear to have come to the U.S. about 1847, and settled in PA.

Hello, Lambroughton, Lamrock, McLamrock, and Lamberton are all derivations of Lamberton, A part of the old Cunningham lands near Kilmauers, In Ayrshire. We are researching Lamberton, of Kilmaurs, who left abt. 1690 to N. Ireland, and many from there to America, and Canada....passage to Canada was free. Have a great deal of info if interested, as well as a couple of photos of Lamberton graves in Kilmaurs taken a couple of years ago.

Mercy Lamberton

I have a problem with dates.
Common web sites give the date of death of Mercy Lamberton's husband, Shubael Painter as 1661. But the date of birth of his son, Thomas is given on the same sites as 1670, or nine years after his father died.
Am I missing something? Or did they have sperm banks in those days?

Mooers Forks — Elricka M. Lamberton, 81, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Chazy on Dec. 28, 1919, the daughter of Perley and Jennie (Breyette) Frenyea.

She was employed as a supervisor at the Mooers Slipper Factory for many years.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janet Lamberton of Mooers Forks, Richard and Almira Lamberton of Mooers Forks, James and Bev Lamberton of Mooers Forks; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and Lucien Duquette of Zephyrhills, Fla., Janice Sargeant of Rouses Point, Sandy and Ally Sample of Mooers Forks, Carol and Walter Hamilton of Mooers; two stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Harold and Trudy Lamberton of Otego, Donald and Irene Lamberton of Clearwater, Fla.; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Evelyn and Larry Richards of Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Leeward and Ann Frenyea of Plattsburgh; a sister, Evelyn Ives of Morrisonville; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Members of the Mooers Knights of Columbus Council 6136 are asked to meet at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

"Lamberton, a surname derived from the lands of that name in Bersickshire, now the property of a family of the name Renton. In Carr's History of Coldingham Priory (Page 144) it is stated that a Saxon named Lambert is supposed to have settled here with his followers, and so gave rise to the 'tun' or village, either before the Conquest or within thirty years subsequent to it, as two places adjoining each other bore this name in 1098, when King Edgar bestowed them on the monks of Durham. The manorial tenant, who held a part of these lands of the prior of Durham, assumed from them the name of Lamberton. In the reign of David I., William de Lamberton was witness to a charter of Earl Henry, son of that monarch, confirming Conpatrick's gift of the villages of Edrom and Nesbit to St. Cuthbert's monks. Henry de Lamberton was one of the barons appointed in 1292, to examine the claims which Robert Bruce advanced to the Scottish crown, and on 28th August 1296, he swore fealty to Edward I. at Berwick. Robert de Lamberton also swore fealty to the same monarch, within the chapel of Berwick castle, in June of the same year. From this ancient family, which has been long extinct, probably sprung the famous William Lamberton, bishop of St. Andrews, the most distinguished person of the name by whose advise and assistance the immortal Bruce was encouraged in his efforts to deliver Scotland from the English yoke.

He was previously parson of Campsie and chancellor of the Diocese of Glasgow, and was consecrated, in 1298, bishop of St. Andrews."

Reubin Lamberton

Just thought I would put this out to see if anyone has any information on Reubin Lamberton (1817 – 1891). According to the 1850 census he lived in Prompton (Wayne County) Pa. He was married to Marie Van Housen (10/18/1825 – 4/26/1923) and was originally from NY. This is where my trail goes cold. Can anyone provide further information?

David Lamberton is my great-great grandfather. His son George was my great grandfather. George married Marian Prescott Hill (Boston, MA - daughter of Benjamin Hill) and they had two sons William Hill (b. 1900, New London, CT) and David Stephen (b. 1908 NYC, NY). George owned the Crescent Park Market in Schenectady, NY. William (my grandfather) was a graduate of West Point and died in 1931.
I have scant information about David, I know that he had two other sons - the eldest named Alfred, who was a stockbroker in NYC. David Lamberton is as far as I can trace back.

My name is angela. My natural father died before I was born & his parents died soon after. His name was Kenneth Wayne Lamberton. He had 2 sisters and a brother. I am hoping to get in contact with someone who can clue me into a bit of the family's history. His brother's name was Lloyd and his sisters names are unknown to me. He was raised in Virgnia (Isle of Wight and Virginia Beach) an soon after high school joined the Marine Corp. He died May 16, 1976 at 20 years of age. Any info would be great help.

Is there anyone out there, who has been able to trace back to John Lambroughton's parents? Acording to records, he was married to Elizabeth Learmont (b. abt 1797) and I can't seem to find anything past that point. John and Elizabeth were my gggg grandparents. I'm hoping to visit Kilmaurs some day, and would love to contact some Lambertons! Can anyone help me? I am decended from William's son, Samuel, b. 1869. My gggg grand mother is Margaret Lamberton who was born in Kilmaurs, Scotland in 1793 and died in Kilmarnock in 1855. She married a William Wilson in 1813. Do you know where she fits within the Lambertons of Kilmaurs.

I found the marriage extract from ScotsPeople for Mary Boyd and William Lamberton (this isnt my direct line, however I couldn't find one for Thomas Lamberton and Janet Boyd). It states that William's parents were John Lambroughton and Elizabeth Learmont - Mary's parents being John Boyd and Jane Thomson(?). I can't really read her maiden name but after searching sides think it is Thomson (it doesnt look like anything else, and I have found another child by them under these names).

William and Mary married in 23 Jan 1857 in Kilmaurs. I have it down that Mary's parents married in 1820 (ScotsPeople) but am skeptical as Janet was born in 1814. Unless Janet's birthdate is wrong, but looking at census information it isn't.

Any help would be much appreciated. I also have my familytree on WorldConnect.

I have a John Boyd marrying Jane Thomson in 1820 in Kilmarnock. Their 2 daughters Mary and Janet both married brothers, William and Thomas Lamberton.

All my family come from the Kilmaurs and Kilmarnock area - Lamberton/Boyd/Thomson

Any sort of connection? My family tree information can be found on worldconnect (which I have to update as it doesnt have the above info) just look yp "Mary or Janet Boyd".

Looking for information on the family of Ransom Lamberton who was born in the state of New York ca. 1817. He maried a woman named Rachel who was also born in New York state ca. 1821. I assume they married in New York state in the late 1830's to early 1840's. Ransom died in Kent CO., MI ca. 1858 - 59. Rachel married Joseph Wade in Kent Co., MI in 1860.
