Thanks for the verification. Do you know the origin in Germany for John & Peter LAMBRECHT? What I'm really trying to find is the origin of Joseph LAMBRECHT (ca. 1800, Germany? - ca. 1854, WI). The census records are frustrating. Joseph was born in Germany, Prussia, Baden, Alsace, and France. It must have been a difficult delivery. :-( Actually, most of those could be correct depending on who was in power. FindaGrave for John LAMBRECHT, eldest son of Joseph, says John was born in 1839, Jefferson Co., NY. There was a Joseph LAMBiRK there in 1840.

OK, thanks for the note; here is the info you need. I had done a lot of research in the Milwaukee County Courthouse when I was physically able. I have the marriage record that shows Julius William Lambrecht married Wilhelmine Henrietta LOUISE Bittner 25 January 1884 in Milwaukee, Wi.
Her parents were John Anton Bittner and Frederica Mary Goecks Schroeder. I have 4 children documented. And yes, Julius was the son of John Lambrecht and Wilhelmine Bast, John being the brother of Peter Lambrecht, the line I am following more closely.

She was known as Louise, but her real name was Wilhelmine H. BITTNER, according to her marriage record. I think the Wisconsin Historical Society wants you to pay for the marriage record, so they don't give both names at their online research site. However, if you know both names, you can zero in on the couple by finding one person's marriage date and checking to see whether the other married on that date. Julius W. LAMBRECHT and Wilhelmine H. BITTNER are the only names that both come up on 25 Jan. 1884, Milwaukee County. Julius LAMBRECHT (16 Feb. 1861, Prussia - 1931, Milwaukee) was son of John LAMBRECHT & Wilhelmine [BAST, per online record].

Wilhelmine H. / Louisa Bittner Lambrecht (1860 - 190_)

I did a census search. Louisa was listed in 1905 but not in 1910. Julius W. LAMBRECHT was born in Prussia but lived in Milwaukee from an early age.

In 1870, LAMBRECHT: John, 49; Wilhelmine [BAST?], 47; Wilhelmine, 21; Caroline, 19; Charlotte, 16; August, 12; Julius, 9, all b. Prussia, only Emilie, 5, b. Wisconsin.

1880, LAMBRECHT: John, 59; Wilhelmine, 57; August, 21; Julius, 19; Emilie, 15; all b. Prussia except Emilie. The three eldest girls probably had married. However there was a Charlotte who died in 1877 and another married in 1878, Wisconsin VR Index (online). One Caroline m. 19 Oct. 1873. Three Wilhelmines married in the 1870's in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, 1900, LAMBRECHT, Julius, b. 16 Feb. 1861, Germany, imm. 1863, married 16 years [Wilhelmine H. BITTNER m. 25 Jan. 1884, Milwaukee, per WI Index].
Wf. Louisa H., b. 29 Je. 1860, WI, parents b. Germany, had four ch, all living, b. WI:
Emilie M., 15 Feb. 1886; Elsie, 22 May 1888; Theodor(e), 29 Oct. 1889; Edwin, 11 Je. 1891.

--All four children but no wife with Julius in 1910. Julius was also of Milwaukee in 1920 & 1930. WI Index says there was an obituary for him in 1931.

Who did she marry?

My line is Peter Lambrecht who came over with two brothers,John and Martin.
It's interesting that you have a BITTNER who married a LAMBRECHT. Follow this!

Adam KUNKLE married Maggie BETNER [BITTNER?] They had children in Ohio, and I think they are the couple of Woodford Co., IL, 1860, and of Marshall Co., IL, 1870. In 1870, Adam & Margaret were each aged 67, b. Bavaria. Their son Andrew KUNKLE, 29, was in the next household in 1870 with wife Christina, 25. Andrew KUNKEL {sic}, 39, was of Metamora, Woodford Co., IL (just south of Marshall Co.), in 1880 with wf. Elisabetha, 32. There were two QUASET girls in the household, Anna E., 11, & Otilie, 7. I cannot find the name QUASET, so I think it was QUAST.

In Peoria Co., IL, 1866, Herman T. QUAST m. Elizabeth KNOBLAUCH. Census of 1870, Peoria, has Harmon QUEAST, 41; Elizabeth, 22; & Annie, 1.

In 1900, Otilda, 27, no last name, was called stepdaughter of Andrew KUNKLE in Platte Co., NE. Anna KUNKLE had married William LAMBRECHT in Colfax Co., NE, but was she really Anna QUAST?

Does your BITTNER have any connectione in Ohio before 1860? Do you know the background of Julius LAMBRECHT?

Hello, Marietta, Do you have any information about LAMBRECHT of Washington Co., WI?

Joseph LAMBRECHT (ca. 1800, Baden? - 1854, WI) m. Magdalen. In 1850, Farmington, Washington Co., WI, LAMBRIGHT:

Joseph, 49, & Magdalen, 35, both b. Germany
Ch. b. NY: Catherine, 12; John, 11; Joseph, 9; Michael, 5
Ch. b. WI: Hannah, 3; Jacob, 0.

In 1860, Farmington, WI: LEMBRECHT:

Joseph, 19; Michiel, 14; Hanna, 13; Jacob, 9; Andrew, 7; with
BROBST, Christopher, 40; Mary, 44; Margareth, 5; Mary, 2.

John and Michael stayed in Washington County. John LAMBRECHT (14 Sep. 1839, Jefferson Co., NY - 1913, Washington Co., WI, bu. St. Mary's, West Bend, WI) married Johanna CHAMBERS [m1. Patrick RILEY] & Mary MALONE.

Michael LAMBRECHT (1844 - 20 May 1916, bu. Boltonville Union Cem., Washington Co., WI) m. Sarah BOLTON, who d. 23 Apr. 1931.

Joseph and Andrew went to Richland Twp., Colfax Co., NE. Joseph LAMBRECHT, b. 1841, m. Hannah BERNINGER [HUGHES on tombstone].

Elizabeth BERNINGER (2 Nov. 1814 - 25 Sep. 1900) is buried in the city cem., Schuyler, NE, with Joseph and Hannah.

Andrew LAMBRECHT (15 May 1852, WI - 3 Jan. 1914, NE--George Andrew on marriage record) m. 25 Dec. 1877, Washington Co., WI, Alice Louise BOLTON (17 Aug. 1860 - 28 Feb. 1930), dates from tombstone.

Any clues about Joseph or Magdalen? Do the names match others in Wisconsin?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The most specific European reference is from the census of 1880. Joseph LAMBRECHT of Colfax Co., NE, was listed as born in New York to a father from Baden and a mother from Alsace. The other census records are just confusing. Some say both parents were born in Prussia or Germany or both were born in France.

We're just beginning the LAMBRECHT search, and we're trying to verify the connections. Here's what we've found so far. In 1860, the BROBST household had LEMBRECHT {sic}: Joseph, 19, Michiel, 14; Hanna, 13; Jacob, 9, & Andrew, 7.

In 1899 & 1900, Joseph & Andrew LAMBRECHT were of Sections 1 & 2, Richland Twp., Colfax Co., NE.

FindaGrave of Washington Co., WI, has Michael LAMBRECHT (1844, NY - 1916).

John LAMBRECHT (1839 - 1913, Washington Co., WI) might have been a brother because he was also born in New York. FindaGrave says b. Jefferson Co., NY.

What ties them together is that Michael and Andrew both married BOLTON girls in Washington Co., WI. Names of the wives are verified on FindaGrave. Michael m. Sarah, & Andrew m. Alice L. BOLTON.

I am wondering if my LAMBRECHT family is connected to yours as they also live in NE. Where are your LAMBRECHTs from? Mine hail from Brodden, Bergthal, and Erpel in Prussia (Posen in old terms). These LAMBRECHTs landed in Galveston, TX rather than coming through NYC. Their travel documents say they are headed for Kenesaw, NE, though I cannot find them in the census at that location.
FindaGrave has John LAMBRECHT (14 Sep. 1839, Jefferson Co., NY - 1913, bu. St. Mary's Immaculate C., West Bend, Washington Co., WI) m1. 30 Apr. 1866, Washington Co., WI, Johanna CHAMBERS (ca. 1836 - 25 Nov. 1888) m2. ca. 1893, Mary MALONE. In 1866, there was a household in Washington Co., WI of RILEY, Johanna, 24; Anna, 65; & Margareth, 10, also John LAMBRECHT, 24.

In 1880, John LAMBICK was 40, & Johanna was 42, no children in household. In 1900, John LAMBRECHT's birth was listed as Sep. 1839, NY, & Mary, Apr. 1861, WI, no children.

USGenWeb > Nebraska > Colfax County has a lot of LAMBRECHT information.

Since John was of Washington Co., WI, & b. NY, I think he might have been related to another household there in 1860, in Boltonville:

BROBST, Christopher, 40; Mary, 44; Margareth, 5; Mary, 2, &
LEMBRECHT {sic}, Joseph, 19; Michiel {Michael}, 14; Hanna, 13; Jacob, 9; Andrew, 7.

Michael (2 Nov. 1844, NY - 20 May 1918) m. [BOLTON] (17 Aug. 1860 - 28 Feb. 1930).

Since Joseph & Andrew were in the same household in Washington Co., WI, in 1860; and in 1899 lived in Sections 1 & 2, Richland Twp., Colfax Co., NE, I think they were brothers.
I can tell you that Olive's father, Julius Watenphul, was the son of Henrietta Lambrecht and Henry Watenphul. Henrietta immigrated as a child in June 1871 with her entire family. In fact, my ancestors are related to both of them. Henrietta was the daughter of Wilhelm Lambrecht and Henrietta Luedtke. Henrietta's brother August married a Watenphul also.

Henry Watenphul, born 1852 in Wayne, Washington County, Wisconsin-- was the son of Philip Watenphul and Margaret Diensmann; they immigrated 1847. Contact me if you want more of the details.

Austria Hungary Lambrechts

I am searching for some info on my great grand fathers family. His name is David Lambrecht. I know that he came to America in 1903 i was told from Austria Hungary, or saposedly what is New Yugoslavia. The name of the town or city I was told was Dalji. Though when i look it up on a map it shows only a city Dalj in Croatia. When in Dalji he apprenticed as a shoe maker, and later worked in Essek and Budapest, before moving to the USA. He also lived in Trenton NJ. Philly, and Roanoke VA. He married my great grandmother Anna Welchoff in NJ in 1914, and they lived the rest of there life together in Quakertown PA.
There children's names are David, Ernest, Kathy, Annie and Robert. Robert is my grandfather. My grand father tells me that his Father David had talked of relatives he had in Yugoslavia, and that he had several brother and sisters in Austria that never came to America. He did however have two sisters that eventually came over. There names are Julia and Pauleen Lambrecht. both married. Any help in tracing my Great Grandfathers origin or possibly parents would be wonderful.
thanks
-Rachel Cardell-

Hi Marietta. Glad to hear that you are back to your researching again. I just have gotten back to it also. We've been busy with our annual antique sale that we have at our home every fall, the holidays, and we just got blessed with a new baby Granddaughter Dec. 30th. She's adorable. Anyway, I don't really have much on them, other than their birth dates. I have some stuff on Martin and Johann, but info on Peter (the one we're related to) seems to be so elusive. I don't have an Olga listed. I do, though, have a Wilhemine and Klara listed as the daughters. Wilhelm Friedrich info is on our family tree. I think I sent you an invite to view it. By the way, are you related to a Ray Erickson? I sent him an e-mail through Ancestry about Lambrecht info and he said he had an Aunt Marietta who still lives in Milwaukee. If you are his aunt, what a small world. The other day I e-mailed someone for info on my husband's father and when we received an answer, it turned out to be my husband's cousin. We were really surprised. Can't remember if I sent you the info we got from our friend who comes from the Martin brother. Someone had done some research on that part of the family for them. If you would like it, please let me know. Got to go and get some errands done. Talk later.

Debby

I am interested in hearing from relatives who know anything about my grandfather Gustav Lambrecht's parents from Germany. I am the youngest daughter of Gustav's son Arthur Lambrecht who married Leona Katzberg in 1933 in Prosser, Nebraska. My father came to America in 1909 when he was nine months old via Galveston, Texas.

Louis
-on 5/24/1943 their daughter Dorothea Helene Louis married Reverend Alfred Henry Louis Ernst
-on 7/12/1980 their son Joel David Ernst married Iraida Victoria Carrascal Segovia
...and they had me, Kristina Helene Segovia Ernst.

Thanks so much,
Kristina H.
I stumbled over the Watenphul line several years ago but didn't know how they might fit into the line I was following. I am always curious who people are when they have the "family" name. Do you know who Wilhelm's parents were? The same question for Henrietta Luedtke?? Thank you. muslamb2

Hi Debby:
Glad to hear from you. Yes, Ray is my nephew, son of Mary Alice (father, Paul), Lambrecht Ericksen. He is really gung ho on genealogy and is going both female and male sides. Next summer he plans to go to Europe and visit churches and towns of the families! I am counting on great response from him!!!
Congrats on the new little one. On my side, my nephew's daughter had a baby boy and my brother's granddaughter had a baby girl! The line just keeps growing!
I'll try to get down to business soon and see if I can fill in some of your gaps.
I think you know my daughter-in-law, Lynne??? She came a week ago on Sat. and we met with Claire Zabolsky Schuppner. Her sister was Jean Stremlow. They descend from Charles/Anna Nell Lambrecht, son of Herman Lambrecht, the oldest son of Peter.
I haven't done anything with my Fammily Tree becuz Lynne has it on hers and now Ray, my nephew, has a Tree also. I haven't learned yet how to download Lynne's tree into my Tree and for me to do it from my paper files would take so long.
Actually, I am trying to trace my maternal grandmother's ship list as she had a little brother who either died on ship or before coming to Germany. None of the family knows and I would like to clear up the mystery.
Boy, as you know, genealogy can swallow up a whole bunch of time without drawing a deep breath.
Keep in touch, Marietta
