Norm, My g-grandmother is Minervia Ella Esarey m. Thomas Van Winkle, Crawford Co., IN. There are also Lamons married into my family in that area. It seems that almost any name from the counties along the Ohio River from Louisville to Evansville has some connection to my familes down there. It is enough to make my head spin. I don't think I could ever sort it all out. I don't have anything specific for you, but some of the families I am interested in are Speedy, Van Winkle, Esarey, Lamon, Frakes, Root, Newton, Brown, Byers, Leaser, Walton, Buford, and others. trying to locate a Celestia Lamon from Pa. In 1878 she married Dr. Joseph Leander Gaston, then moved to Texas where she died in Bowie, TX cir 1895.

I would have to say yes. The Lamon family was living on the border of Thomas and Brooks county for years. Your husband in most likly the grandson of Hugh Lamon (he was Danial Lamon's brother). Danial Lamon was either born in Scotland or NC. But I do know the Lamon family migrated from Scotland to NC and then moved to Georgia.

From the Pittsburgh Press, Feb. 25, 1912
After a chase covering many towns, Detectives...arrested T.F. Lamon, an advertising man, with offices in the Keystone Building, & the alleged promoter of the "Society Circus" ....benefit of the General & emergency hospital... Lamon is being held on charges of embezzlement, false pretense & receiving stolen goods preferred by Albert Harris on behalf of all the unpaid performers.
Lamon was taken into custody in a house at Craig & Robinson Sts., Northside, at 9 p.m....
Lamon said he was at a hotel in Uniontown....the two detectives found Lamon had been talking from a hotel in Greensburg...
Lamon was then traced to Jeannette...to Irwin...Uniontown...Jeannette...
Lamon is said to be a son of former Capt. of Detectives Robert Lamon, of Philadelphia. In the embezzlement charge he is alleged to have failed to account for some $1,800. Lamon is said to be wanted also for passing checks on several local hotels which were returned "not sufficient funds."

ROSE LAMON (LEMON): Looking for info on family of Rose Lamon (b. abt 1879 PA - d. abt 1960 PA), married John Aloysius KANE (b. abt 1878 PA - d. bet. 1927-40; married -1904 PHILA, PA). Per 1910 census, Rose's father (name unk) was born in PA and her mother (name unk) was born in Germany (immigration date unkn). So far can only find Rose with her husband and children; nothing prior.
Family members (now deceased) used to say that Rose was possibly from Pittsburg, but I'm not certain that's correct.

Any help would be appreciated.

Parents of Daniel L Lamon

I am interested in finding the parents and possible bothers sisiters of Daniel L. Lamon born 1803 in Skye Isle, Inverness, Scotland married to Catherine Gilchrist from Robeson Co NC and both are buried in Thomas Co. GA. He is my GGGranddaddy. They had 9 children, with three of the boys serving in the War for Southern Independence. I have more information on the children if you would like it. Thanks for the assistance. My husband is a great grandson to Hugh Kenneth Lamons , born in Thomas County , GA in 1848 and I've suspected that there is a tie to Daniel Lamon there .

Parents to Hugh Kenneth were Malcolm Lamons and Nancy Ann Hollingsworth .

Information I have for Malcolm has him born in NC but I have nothing more and even his year of birth varies from Census to Census .

I have NO idea how the name was originally spelled . I've found the family under Lemon , Lamon , Lamons and Lammons and been told that it probably started out Lemond/Lemont and all variations of that .

Do you know if Malcolm is connected to your line ? I have lots of info from Malcolm down . I'd love to verify the relationship and share info .

Flora Lamon of North Carolina

I am looking for the parents, sisters, brothers,
etc., of Flora Lamon of Robeson County, NC.

She married William Graham in Robeson County in
November, 1841. Flora and William are my
great-great grandparents on my father' side

The marriage license is recorded at the Robeson County
Library, but since the originals were
entered into county records as a massive project
in order to capture marriage info before
the state mandated tracking marriages, etc.,
there is no other information on the license
other than the names of the bride and groom and
the date of the license.

William and Flora had :
Margaret Ann Graham (Currie)
Elizabeth Jane Graham (Brown)
Annabell Caroline Graham (McGryde)
Winfield Scott Graham
Lemuel A Graham
Flora Catherine Graham (McColl)
Neill Luther Graham
William Hugh Graham (died at 16)
and Daniel Archibald Graham who died as an
infant.

I found records in Cumberland County, NC
of a marriage license for Flora Lamon and
Laughlin McLean dated 12/16/1805. Laughlin also
shows up on the 1820 census, with a wife
3 males under 10, and i female under 10.

Could they 1805 Flora be my Flora's aunt?

If any of this sounds familiar, please respnd.

I'll share whatever I come up with.

Elmer,

Your message is like a light in a tunnel. I still have
not been able to find any of Flora's people.
I did, however, determine where she is buried, and
in the Graham cemetary on land that she and her
family farmed.

I have been in touch with a lady in Florida,
who is the granddaughter of Flora and William Graham's
son, Winfield Scott Graham. She tells me that
her brother still lives on the same land,
and if I go back down to NC, I can contact
him and visit the Graham family cemetary.

I am so sorry that I cannot give you any more
information on the Lammons, but I am more than happy to
share what I have on the Lammon/Graham/Brown
connection.

I don't know why I feel so proprietory about

Joseph Lynch married Amy Lucinda Esarey and he was the son-in-law of Reason Esarey and Mary Lamon Esarey. Last June a family group placed a Civil War marker for Joseph in the Ray's Chapel Cemetery in old Scott township in Harrison County, Indiana. Emanuel ( Manuel ) and Mary French Lamon are also both buried there. Would like to hear from you.

I am interested in sharing info concerning members of the Lamon family who migrated from North Carolina to Alabama. Most settled in Winston County, but some moved to Missouri. Names include John, Mordecai, Daniel, William J. and their descendants. Also, I need specific info on parents of James Washington Lamon 1 (poss. Laymon), b. 1844 who married Nancy E Bennett. Hello Joan, I saw your reply and many of the names match the Lamon family I am now working on.

I have aquired a grave marker for Joseph Lynch who is buried in the Ray's Chapel cemetery in old Scott township in Harrison County, Indiana. Joseph had served in the Civil War and his grave was never marked with a stone.

I found that William and John M. Lamon were two of the first trustees when the property was obtained where the Ray' Chapel Church and Cemetery are located.

Also one of the trustees was Reason Esarey who married Mary Lamon. Joseph Lynch married Amy Lucinda Esarey who was the daughter of Reason and Mary Lamon Esarey.

When I take the marker to Harrison County to be placed on the grave the Harrison County Historical Society would like to have a small dedication program. I have been trying to gather all of the information I can find about all of the Indiana Pioneers who are buried at Ray's Chapel.
Any assistance you would give would be truly apprecated. Hoping to hear from you.

Robert C. LaMon's father

I am looking for my fiance's father. His name was Robert LaMon. He was in the service around 1943. I think the Army. He married Minnie Mae Bowser around then. Her nickname was Chi Chi. She was a beautician. They had Robert C. LaMon on Dec. 20, 1943. R.C. has no family and would very much like to find out if he has any other family. He was given to a farm family when he was young. Then when he was in high school he lived with a foster family. He was born in Hagerstown Maryland. If anyone would know anyone related to him he would appreciate it. He had a stroke in 2001 and is in a wheelchair-paralyzed totally on the left side. I have tried several times in locating his father. I found this and will try again.
