Re: Gladys Luella

Hi Crystal - My name is Janice and my father, John Philip Miller, who was adopted as a baby, is/was the son of Gladys Luella Lamphiear. He was born 18 Jul 1933 at Borgess Hospital (St. Agnes) in Kalamazoo, MI. His adoptive parents took him home at age 3 weeks; the adoption was not final until he was over a year old. I have the adoption record that lists him as "Baby Boy Lamphiear" and have verified that he is Gladys' son. I do not know who his father is, but I would very much like to. I was able to get a copy of his adoption/social services file, but all information that might help identify his father had been blacked out. I'm in contact with Phyllis Parks and Larry Wyman and try to see them on summer visits to Michigan. The first time Larry came to meet me he was astounded by how much my then four year old son looked like his other nephews! My sister and I have talked with Phyllis and Larry about doing DNA testing to see if, by chance, they and John might be more than half-siblings. Are you by chance a child or grandchild of Larry or Henry? I don't remember ever visiting this site before and was stunned/pleased to see your posting today. I am still actively working Lamphiear genealogy and would love to compare notes - if you are a genealogist. Larry has quite a bit on the Wyman line. If you would like to contact me directly, I am at jlchipman@aol.com - have a nice day - Janice

Connection made. Clark T. Lamphear married Mary Emeline Tuthill in 1854. Mary was the sister of Benjamin Mull's wife Harriet Alzina Tuthill. Mary, known as Emeline, died young and Clark Lamphear married another Tuthill sister, Juliette (known as Julia), in 1869. Interestingly, Benjamin Mull's sister Adelia Mull married William H. Tuthill, cousin of the Tuthill sisters.

Would anyone have any information on my great-grandmother, Lydia Louisia Lamphear? Her father was Gardner Lamphear and I am not sure of her mothers name. Lydia was born around 1840, maybe in New York. Her family moved to Ohio, where she and her siblings grew up. She married Lewis Mow in Trowbridge, Michigan. She died in Wexford, Co. MI in 19l8. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Geri Graham

Re: Lamphear of New York

I am a descendant of Benjamin E. Mull of Albany and NYC by way of his daughter Charlotte "Lottie" Mull (1880-1928), my great-grandmother. Charlotte's adopted sister Effie Mull lived for years with the family of Clark Lamphear in Southold, NY. Although I have not found a solid connection with the Lamphears I suspect it goes through Benjamin Mull's wife Harriet Tuthill, who was born and raised in Southold. Harriet died in 1881 and Benjamin in 1891, leaving their 3(?) daughters orphaned. Effie was sent to the Lamphears and Lottie to an orphanage in Suffolk County. Never was able to locate the third sister after that. I'll check my data and see if there is anything more solid to send you. Are you rfelated to the Mulls?

Lamphear of New York

Looking to make a connection to the Lamphear family from Southold, Long Island with the family of Benjamin Mull, the Lamphears at one time had an Effie Mull living with them, quite possible that the connection could be from upstate, in the Albany area during late 1700's and ealry 1800's.
Anything would be greatly appreicated.
Anita
