Hello Alan:

I am a descendant of William of Ipswich. There is some evidence that he was from Terling. I have not heard of Toppesfield, but that would make sense. Can you give me any information about your findings in these towns? Did you you located Lamson in Ridgewell other than those in Barnabas' family?

Thanks,
Roger Lamson

Hello Deborah, Thank you for your reply... I have acquired quite a bit of info on the descedants of David & Clarissa, bit I cannot seem to connect David to his ancestors. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated & I am happy to share what I have as well. I am not related to the family, but am researching for a dear friend. Kevin James Lamson. Based on the info you provided in your reply, you & he are 2nd cousins. Kevin descends from Commodore David Lamson (brother of your grandfather Samuel.

Please email me at chickie62@frontier.com

Rebecca,

I am currently in the infant stage of trying to figure out what Kaetterhenry's are where in the world. Along with that is figuring out where the Lamson, Paynes, Sears etc. etc. are as well.

I would love to be able to use whatever information you have to figure this out. Please let me know if there are any sites I can go to (or be invited to) that will help in this process.

Thanks so much,
Karin Kaetterhenry Reeser
Daughter of Porter Kaetterhenry who is son of Lorenz & Jessie (Lamson) Kaetterhenry

A soldier (Battery B, 1st NY Light Artillery) from Baldwinsville, NY, writes to his parents the following in November 1861:

"We have a little boy in our company that reminds me of 'Bottle A. Lamson.'—He only weighs about 300, a very delicate little thing."

Mr. Lamson must have been a famous local character (Onondaga County, Town of Lysander - or very southern Oswego Co.) whose name and size everybody would know. I may have one other reference to him somewhere, but I cannot identify him by given name and I'd love to know who this is.

Have you ever heard of anyone like this. either by nickname or by reputation as a heavyweight? He would have been born in either the late 1830s or early to mid 1840s, I assume.

Thank you.

Dear Woody: I enjoyed reading your family information. I am a direct descendant of Barnabas Lamson and went to Ridgewell, Essex more than twenty years ago to see for myself the records in the parish church regarding the births of Barnabas and Martha Lamson. I wish that I could locate information about the parents of Barnabas but haven't been able to. I did find, however, that there were numerous Lamsons living in the Essex area during the time that Barnabas and his wife were living in the Ridgewell area, especially in Terling and Toppesfield. I am related to Barnabas through his son Joseph who went to live with Deacon Bridge after his father died. My grandfather was Danforth Cyrus Lamson (#49) in the Lamson Memorial. I live in Pasadena, California. Let's keep in touch.

Best--Alan Lamson

Tony,
Start with your parents birth certificates or ask them who their parents were if they are still alive. These will give you their parents and you can then begin looking for your grandparents & their children.
Perhaps where they were buried you will find relatives also.

David H Lamson (born abt 1808 Canada)

I am researching the ancestors & descendants of Dr. David H. Lamson who was born about 1808 in Canada per various census images I have found. I 1st found David on the 1860 US Census for Lysander, Onondaga County, NY. David is married to a Clarissa (abt 1816 NY) & have the following children:
Decatur (abt 1837 NY), Samuel (abt 1837 NY), Harriet (abt 1850 NY), Nancy (abt 1853 NY), & Phebe (abt 1857 NY).

The 1880 census information indicates David's father was born in Connecticut & his mother was born in Denmark.

I believe David & Clarissa were also the parents of Commodore Lamson (abt 1835 NY). I 1st find Commodore in the 1870 US Census for Van Buren, Onondaga County, NY. Commodore is married to a Helen & they have a son Wesley (abt 1867 NY). Per the 1880 US Census, Commordore & Helen are residing in Hannibal, Oswego County, NY. This census indicates that Commodore's father was born in Canada & his mother in NY.

Later Census images & various newspaper articles & obituaries indicate that the families of Commodore & Helen Lamson resided mostly in Onondaga & Oswego counties.

I would greatly appreciate any information as to who David's parents were. I have a lot of on the descendant of Commodore & Helen that I can share as well.

Descendants of Dr David H Lamson
--------------------------------
1-Dr David H Lamson b.
Re: Parents of: Essie Alvira {Lamson} McKimmy?

A follow up.

Julia Anna and Hattie both died in 1871. They are not Essie's mother.

Estella and Nellie's obituaries both list Essie as a sister (swap their husband's names though).

However, Abbie's lists her as a niece not a sister. It seems that as the last of the siblings to die, she was able to reveal the real truth.

Estella was married in 1883 and gave birth to a child in Dec of 1888.

Since Essie was born in Jul 1888, I have decided that her mother must be Nellie. I assume that Essie was born out of wedlock and was adopted by her grandparents. The family then consistently named her as her mother's sister until Abbie died.

I would be interested because I have a DNA Surname project--only a few of which Lamsons have participated--one of which is a a descendant of Francis Lamson a descendant (as is John Brassfield) of John (not James) Hartley Lamson who married Mary Palmer. All I have is that he is descended from James (born 1754 in New Hamsphire) and Mary Lamson.

So far these are all in Maine and cannot connect the James Lamson born 1754 to anybody. I have a Global Lam*son database of 5000+ names and have posted it on a Private Lam*son website (MyFamily.com) and would offer you a free login if you can add what you have (a tree or other information) on your Mt Washington Lamsons. I have some of that in my global database (Ebenezer and descendants), but probably not all--it came from Memorial of Ebenerzer Lamson...

I have a dead-end Lampson who shows up in Berkshire County, Mass in 1776, but was born in 1761 in Boston, but, Lanesobor, Berkshire County is close to Mt Washington, so wonder if there is some connection.

Please post here if you'd like a logon and I can send you a logon--or email me at l a m p w a l k @ y a h o o . c o m

Re: Looking for descendants of Charles H. Lamson, Joseph H. Lamson, and Frank Lamson-Scribner

I have a document given to my grandmother Marie Lamson Hoban (1900-1985) dated 1965 listing the paternal lineage of Frank Hamilton Lamson-Scribner Jr. and Denis Lamson-Scribner.
The sender of the document believed that Marie might have been related to this line of Lamsons however I have not been able to find a connection.
Marie's parents were George Lyon Lamson (1851-1909), a dentist in New York and his wife Mary(known as May)Frances Connor. George was married before but we have no information otherwise. At the time of his death in 1909, George had 3 brothers: John Abraham of NY, Charles Francis of CA, Abraham Lincoln of Brooklyn and a sister Maria Louise Lamson Rockwell of NY.
Parents of George were George H Lamson (1828-?)and Maria L Davison (1832 -?). I can't get any further back up the line nor do I know anything about siblings of George H.
Does this fit with any information you have about the Lamson-Scribner lineage? I'm interested in filling in the gaps.
