William Henry Lane

My great grandfather was William Henry Lane, born 1846, place unknown. He married a Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzie) ????? Smith. She had been married before to a Smith and had a son named Dexter Smith at the time she married my great grandfather. After their marriage, they resided in Ralls County Missouri and are both buried in the rural church cemetary which William Henry donated the land where it is built. Together they had one son, named George Harvey Lane, born in 1892. He is also buried in this same cemetary. His only sibling was his half brother, Dexter Smith, known as "Uncle Dek". Is this the same line? We know that at some point before William Henry's birth that some of his ancestors spelled Lane differently, Layne. We believe that Frederick "Fed" Layne (born 1805??) was connected somehow also. Any response would be greatly appreciated. I am just starting to trace our family and only know a little. I grew up attending the church where both my grandfather and great grandfather are buried.
