seeking living Lang's from Port Huron, MI

Hello

I am researching my Lang family from the Port Huron MI area. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was Carl Lange from Mecklenburg Germany. When he immigrated to Canada he changed his name to Charles Lang. His son, Hermon Ludwig Lange was my Great-Great Grandfather. When he immigrated to Argyle, Sanilac Co. MI, he changed his name to Herman Laing. He married Johanna Shagena. His son, John Charles Laing was my Great Grandfather. He changed his name back to Lang after he divorced my Great Grandmother Bertha A. Smith. His 2nd wife was Mary Ellen Lee. They had 3 children all named Lang including Charles Herman b. 1914, Elmer Carl b. 1917 and Alice May b. 1924. Each of those had children some of which I believe should still be living in or around the Port Huron, MI area. If you are connected to this family will you respond to this posting?

Kind Regards
Patti Molenaar
Johann Georg Lang - Sundhoffen/ Wolfgantzen, Alsace Mid 1700's

I am looking for information on Johann Georg Lang who was living in or near Sundhoffen in the mid 1700's.

I have a wife named Catharina (last name unknown) who died March 25, 1760 according to Sundhoffen church records and 3 children:

Catharina born November 22, 1746
Salome born May 9 1753 died April 13, 1759
Johann Georg born May 9 1756 died December 29, 1759

His daughter Catharina married Johannes Ettlin on April 23, 1765 in Sundhoffen. On the marriage record it states that Johann Georg was a Forester in Wolfgantzen.

The 3 childrens births were all found on the Evan Church records, recorded in German for Sundhoffen. There are several Lang men listed who could have been relatives but nothing to prove this.
Re: Gustav Lang

Hi I have a Gustav Lang in my family.

My Great, Great Grandfather was known as Herman Laing, Hermon Lang and possibly Herrmann Lang. According to various vital records and the 1881 US Fed Census he was born on Nov 06, 1857 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and his father and mother were from Mecklenburg Strelitz which, Germany.

HERMAN’S PARENTS

Unfortunately at this time, the names of Herman’s parents remain unproven. A copy of Herman’s birth, baptism or marriage record on which their names may be recorded is needed for verification. After extensive research of the Canadian records, I have found only one couple who are a likely fit:

Father Charles Lang born abt 1819, Germany
Died 25 Jun 1887 in Woolwich Twp., Waterloo North, Ontario, Canada
Religion: Lutheran
Occupation: Tailor

Mother: Johanna/Hannah Niemeyer born 24 May 1830, Germany
Died 5 Sep 1909 in Waterloo North, Ontario, Canada
Religion Lutheran

Children of Charles and Johanna were:
Herrmann/Hermon/Herman Lang/Laing born 1857 Ontario, Canada
Gustaph/Gustav Lang born 1860 Ontario, Canada
Wilhelmina/Mina Lang born abt 1862 Ontario, Canada
Elisabeth Anna Lang born abt 1867 Ontario, Canada
Christian Lang born abt 1872 Ontario, Canada

If you are a descendant of this family please reply.

Kind Regards
Patti Molenaar

This matches my pedigree from Wm. G. "Billy" forward to my ggf Charles who moved from MS to Texas in the 20s after his farm failed due to boll weevils. Most settled around Gilmer but also Houston. I have just visited Enoch and John T.'s graves outside Meridian and will exchange pics if you have any.

Hi Sharon,
You contacted me thru Ancestry recently. I have Alexander Lang in my tree. Contact me directly at djsl57@verizon.net. I no longer subscribe to ancestry, so it is hit or miss whether I am able to respond/receive email thru ancestry. I have an Alexander b.1785, married to Margaret Dickey, but she died in 1863. They had a son, Alexander who was born 1824. Pretty coincidental considering what you have. This son married his 1st cousin, Isabella - this was a 2nd marriage for both. Isabella's mother was Elizabeth Livingstone, sister to the original Alexander. I was in SLC last fall and found the burial site for both Isabella and Alexander.
Deb

Hi there

I believe we are researching the same Lang ancestors. I believe your father, Roderick Stewart Lang, born Clydebank in 1911, was the younger brother of my grandfather, James Stewart Lang. Their parents were James Stewart Lang sr and Susannah Collier (previously married to Patrick Joyce). Please get back to me if this is the case.
My direct email add is: katethegreat59@hotmail.com

Im not sure there is a connection - but I am searching for my great grandmother who lived in Canada - she named one of her daughter's Evelyn, and one of her daughters named HER daughter Mary (my mother). I can't find any records - I don't have her first name but my dad says it may have been Mary. I do know she had four daughters - and it would be around the timeframe you mention that she would be a child - late 1800s. The picture might not do me any good since I have no one who would recognize it, unless of course there is alot of family resemblance, but any other information might help me out if there is a connection. Thanks for your time.

Looking for information on this family.

John LANG born c.1767 in Frederick County, Virginia?; died November 11, 1811 in Indiana (killed by Indians). He married Rebecca "Becky" REAGAN in Virginia. She was born November 15, 1767 in Frederick County, Virginia; died February 21, 1856 at Rome, Perry County, Indiana. She was a daughter of Michael REAGAN & Nancy O'CONNELL.

They had at least four children:

1) Rachel LANG, born March 28, 1791/97? in Virginia; died ???? in Harrison County, Indiana. Married Samuel LITTELL (1777-1846), October 5, 1816 in Harrison County, Indiana.

2) Nancy (Mary) LANG, born abt. 1800 in Virginia; died ???? in Perry County, Indiana. Married Joseph Alfred CONNOR, April 11, 1823 in Perry County, Indiana.

3) John Jefferson LANG, born June 21, 1806 in Virginia or Kentucky; died June 3, 1889 in Perry County, Indiana. Married Mary Ann "Polly" CONNOR, August 13, 1829 in Perry County, Indiana.

4) Rebecca LANG, born November 27, 1808 in Jefferson County, Kentucky; died January 15, 1891 in Cannelton, Perry County, Indiana. Married Joshua Brannon HUCKEBY (1808-1889), April 4, 1824 at Rome, Perry County, Indiana.

John and Rebecca probably had more than four children. One source states the elder LANG children stayed in Harrison County, Indiana after Rebecca remarried and moved to Perry County, Indiana. Another source says some of the LANG children moved to Spencer County, Indiana.

After John LANG was killed by Indians in 1811, his widow, Rebecca (Reagan) LANG remarried to Lemuel MALLORY (1763-1853) on August 15, 1819 in Harrison County, Indiana. They moved to Perry County, Indiana during the early 1820's.

Jesse Stamper
