David Langille & wife to Alexander McDonald

on the oath of Angus McDonald
This indenture made this twenty ninth day of April, the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty eight, between David Langille of River John in the County of Pictou, Miller and Mary Ann his wife of the one part and Alexander McDonald (Glenco), of Cape John in the county aforesaid, Yeoman of the other part
Witnesseth that the said David Langille and Mary Ann Langille his wife for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Have and each of them hath granted, bargained, sold, conveyed, and confirmed and by these presents do and each of them doth grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Alexander McDonald his heirs and assigns all that certain lot or parcel of land, situated lying and being at River John in the County of Pictou aforesaid, abutted, bounded and described as follows: that is to say:
Beginning on the western side of the River John at a beech tree marked G P being the north eastern angle of a lot of land belonging to George Perin, and running thence west on said Perin’s lot 63 chains and 50 links thence north 8 chains and 8 links to a white birch stub marked S L the south boundary line of a lot of land granted to James Dawson, thence east along said boundary line 75 chains to a hemlock stub marked I D the western bank of the River John aforesaid, and thence southwesterly the courses of said river up stream to the place of beginning. Containing 55 acres be the same more or less.
With all and singular the hereditaments, privileges, and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and also all the estate, right, title, claim and demands of him the said David Langille and all the Dower or right or title to dower or other interests of her the said Mary Ann his wife, into, out of, or upon the above conveyed lot of land and premises or any part and parcel thereof
To have and to hold, the said lot of land and premises, with the appurtenances, unto him the said Alexander McDonald, his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper and absolute use, benefit and behoof forever.
In witness whereof the said David Langille and Mary Ann Langille his wife have hereunto severally their names subscribed and seals affixed and set the day and year first above written

Received on the day on the date of the foregoing indenture from the therein named Alexander McDonald the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia being the full consideration money mentioned in the said indenture

Be it remembered that on this 29th day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty eight, personally appeared before me the subscriber, one of Her Majesty's Justice of the Peace for the county of Pictou, Mrs Mary Ann Langille, a party to the foregoing indenture and wife of David Langille, also a party thereto, who being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that the said indenture was by her executed for the purposes therein set forth, and that freely and voluntarily without force or compulsion on the part of her said husband
