Robert Patterson to Oliver Langill
Registered at 2 O’Clock PM 9th Dec 1856
on the oath of Wm Matheson a subscribing witness.
This indenture made this fifth day of November, one thousand and eight hundred and fifty six, between Robert Patterson in the County of Pictou of the one part and Oliver Langill, of River John in the county of Pictou of the other part
Witnesseth that the said Robert Patterson and his wife Elizabeth for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia to him in hand paid by the said Oliver Langill at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Hath granted, bargained, sold, remised, released, enfeoffed, and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, remise, release, enfeoff, and confirm unto the said Oliver Langill his heirs and assigns all that piece, plot or parcel of land, situated lying and being on the southwest side of River John in Belvue Village.
Beginning at James Kitchen’s corner on Cottage Street, thence running south forty six degrees east along the south west side of Cottage Street, fifty feet to a stable, thence running south west one hundred feet to a stake on James Kitchen’s line, north west line thence running north forty six degrees west on said line fifty feet on said James Kitchen’s line, thence running north east on said James Kitchen’s line to the place of beginning
With all the privileges and profits thereof or thereto in any wise belonging or appertaining and the issues thereof together with all the right, title, interest, profits, and demands of him the said Robert Patterson and his wife Elizabeth into and out of the said lot and every part and parcel thereof
To have and to hold, the said piece or parcel of land herein before described and premises, with the appurtenances, unto him the said Oliver Langill and to his heirs and assigns to his and their sole only proper benefit use and behoof forever, and that free and clear from all and every encumbrances, the said Robert Patterson, and wife Elizabeth, doth in and by these presents for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators, doth hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said Oliver Langill his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in manner and form following ; that is to say that, he the said Robert Patterson is and now stands seized of a good and sufficient estate of inheritance in Fee Simple of, and in the said premises, plot or parcel of land and said premises herein before described and hath good right, and full power and lawful authority to grant, sell and convey the same in manner and way as herein and hereby granted, sold and conveyed or intended so to be, and also that he the said Oliver Langill his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns shall and may at any and at all times hereafter enter into have hold occupy, possess, and enjoy the same without hindrance, eviction or form or by any person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same, or any part thereof And further he the said Robert Patterson and his wife executors and administrators doth convey that piece of lot or parcel of land and premises and appurtenances on to the said Oliver Langill, his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and will forever defend against all and every claim or claims of all persons lawfully claiming or to claim the said land or any part thereof
In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto their hands and seals subscribed and set the day and year first above written

Received Pictou on this 5th day of November 1856 From Oliver Langill
the sum of thirty pounds being the consideration money mentioned in the
foregoing deed.

On this 20th day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty six, before me the subscriber, one of Her Majesty's Justice of the Peace for the county of Pictou, personally appeared Elizabeth Patterson, the wife of the within named Robert Patterson who being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband did acknowledge that she signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed freely and voluntarily without force or compulsion from her said husband
