My Grandfather's name was Merle Langley. I never met him as he died a long time ago.
My father's (Norman Langley) biological mother (Hendricks) died early and so Merle apparently married someone (Helen?) some time later. My mother just told me all this today. :)
If this is the same person Merle Sr. had my father (Norman) and FReddy, Virginia, Marie and Merle JR.
I believe Merle lived in Michigan. Fireman?

I hope this helps. I just started getting into my geneology.

My husband grandfather was Merle Langley Sr. He married Helen West in the late 40's. He was killed in a tractor accident about 12 years later. I know his father was Charles Langley, we have know ideal where he cames from or even if he had any other children. I would be greatful for any information on Merle Sr. or Charles.

My family family came from Abertillery, Monmouthshire, South Wales, Somerset and or Wiltshire.

My grandfather moved from Bath to Abertillery sometime during 1908-1913, then migrated to Canada in early 1920

Hi don't know if I can help, but so far I have traced my Langley family living in Warminster, Wiltshire, from my GGG Grandfather Charles Langley born 1803 - occupation a Butcher. He was born in Somerset. He married Elizabeth Harris born 1803.

My Langley family came from Staffordshire England, which is the next county to Leicestershire, have you any information on earlier generations? I do not recognize any names you have mentioned, my grandfather born 1884 in Staffordshire had thirteen brothers and sisters. I expect there may be a chance of a connection.

Well here we go, our grandfather was the eldest of forteen children....
WILLIAM EVAN LANGLEY b 1884
on the 1891 Census, these were some of the other children

JOSEPH "" " 5
OSCAR " " 3
WE also know there was HECTOR, JENNY, HUBERT,
GRACE, and MINNIE, and are waiting for the next census to be released in 2002 to find the others.
The parents of these children were
WILLIAM EVAN LANGLEY = SARAH LANGLEY nee RAY.
some of the children were born in Hednesford,
( Hazelslade ) Staffordshire. we have got back to 1723 with this family, my sister Lynda has done most of the research, she is also convinced that any Langleys in Staffordshire are connected to our family, are you in possesion of your GtGrandfathers birth certificate?... if this has been of any help at all, let me know!! and by the way, may I ask where you are located.

Did you recieve my last message,? if so, was it any use to you? if your Great Grandfather was called JOSEPH it is likely he could have have been the younger brother of my Grandfather, William Langley. His younger brother JOSEPH was born in 1885.
As I told you we have the family tree back to 1723 we would be happy to let you have a copy if you find out we are connected at all.

I have only researched my direct line. The Langleys had many children and it is possible one or more of them immigrated. My great grandfather was Jacob Langley married to Caroline Morgan. Possibly one of these children left, George and William were common names in the family. I'll let you know if I come across a connection.

TIPTON, Iowa - Frances M. Langley, 89, Tipton, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Ronald Lashmit will officiate.

A memorial has been established. Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Langley was born April 23, 1917, in Cedar County, the daughter of Floyd 'Ed' and Ethal Nauman Nebergall. She married Irwin E. 'Odie' Langley on June 10, 1945, at her parents home in Cedar County. He preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1990.

She taught in country schools for 10 years. She later was a substitute teacher for the Tipton Community School District for many years.

She was a member of South Bethel United Methodist Church, Tipton, her entire life, where she taught Sunday school and was active in many other church programs. She collected snowmen, loved to cook and bake and was always happy to share these homemade treats with her family and friends. She enjoyed embroidering dish towels, bath towels and other things. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Langley and wife Eileen of Tipton and Barry Langley and wife Melanie of Wilton; six grandchildren, Lauri Tippit, Kelly Dahm, Brian Langley, Scott Langley, Kiley Langley and Karli Langley; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Kayla Tippit, Noah Dahm and Calli Langley; a sister, June Reeve and husband Jack of Tipton; a brother, Max Nebergall of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Clare, Harve and Jay Nebergall; and a sister, Jeane Forrey.

All these Langley's were in Gilmer County, Ellijay abt 1850, Check the Siler and Chapman rolls of the Cherokee East of the Mississippi. You will find much info. on these families. I have a lot of info. but have been unable to connect my Grandfather Pinkney A. Langley b. March 1872 in Gilmer Co. to any of these Langley's even though I have found no record of any other Langley family ever living in Gilmer county.

My grt grt grandfather William R.Langley born 1848 married Julia Ann Parnell born 1847. They had 11 children in all and one of them was named Joseph. My Joseph was born 1886. I have them listed in the Wake County, North Carolina Census for 1900 when Joseph was about 13 years old. William and his family were listed in Johnston County, North Carolina in the 1880 Census before Joseph was born. I has heard that this William Langley's family orginally came down from Lynchburg, or Norfolk Virginia. Several of William and Julia's children moved to Virginia after they were grown and married and had their family's there. I am also descended from John W.D Langley and Hannah Charles. My grandmother was Sarah R.L.Langley, born 14 Jan 1889. She married James Helt and moved to Antlers, OK. I have not been researching my family for very long. I have traced back to John L. Langley. I have some info on the Charles Family back to 1730, if you would like to compare. I would appreciate any family info you could share with me.

I have found no more info on this line of LANGLEY's. Are you aware of the DONA HARRIS that has responded previously to my post? She is also a descendant of JAMES NOONAN LANGLEY. Its been a few years since I have had contact with her, but hopefully she will keep us in mind if she finds anything about this family.

Do you have the names of all the children of JAMES C LANGLEY and MATILDA HAYNES? I have some names, not sure if I have all that is known. Please keep me in mind if you find anything. Thanks!

Our family JAMES C married MATILDA HAYNES in Callaway Co MO on Jan 22 1824, so he was probably born early 1800's His father was MOSES LANGLEY from GA died in MO. I am researching a James C. Langley who is an ancestor of a DNA match to me.The James C. that I have was born in 1835 and married to Adaline (maybe Sara Adaline)and shows up in 1850 census of Gwinnett Ga and 1860 census of Heard Ga. Some of the children are Mary E (1848), Nathan L s (1850), Martha and Judea. I believe he is closely related to Lodge Langley.

Now I find a new article posted by a descendent from "Clark County, Arkansas - Past and Present," 1993 by Roy D. Bear with conflicting information on Reverend Isom P Langley.
Can someone validate one of these?

My father was from South Carolina, as children we were raised in Gray Court, South Carolina, I believed he passed away in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, or Woodruff. He had a half brother named William clifton Burch. There mother's name was
Ray Laura Langley-She then married a Burch.

Debbie, sorry I made a mistake on Lock Langley's birth place. I said NC but it was MD. His son John Langley did marry Anna Johnson in MD. They also did move to Kentucky. John was my 5th gen great great great grandfather :-)

Hi Debbie, I have in my family tree.. Lock Langley b abt 1750 in Anson NC d 1799 in Anson NC. He was married to Margaret (Peggy) Bartee b 1752 Norfolk Va d 1807. Margaret daughter of Samuel Bartee & Signa Langley. Lock Langley is son of William Langley b 1725 and Elizabeth unknown Langley.
I also have another Lock Langley b 1842 GA d 1903 Adair OK.
I'm sure you have this one if traced back to Cherokee Nation GA.

I think you have part of the line correct, but Annie Wickett was married to Moses "Tu-Lu-Squit" Parris. He was also married to Mary Langley daughter of Noah and Annie Self Langley. All were from the Cherokee Nation GA. John F Langley son of Noah Langley and Annie Self was married to Sarah Parris daughter of Moses Parris and Annie Wickett.

I was wondering whether there is anyone who can help me, I have really hit a brick wall now with tracing my family tree in Dublin.

I have managed to find out that my great grandfather Robert Langley was born 20 May 1873 in No9 North Dock street in Dublin. His parents were Samuel Langley and Anne Fitzpatrick. He also had a brother called Samuel born 16th June 1875. I do not know what happened to my great grandfathers brother Samuel, the last evidence of him was in the 1901 english census, where he was living with his brother Robert in Garston Liverpool.

I am trying to find out where Roberts father Samuel was born and when. I believe Samuel and Anne were married at St Lawrence O'Tooles church on Sherriff street Dublin, but I cannot comfirm that.

If anyone can help me I would be so grateful

My grandfather was Alfred Elijah Langley, whose parents were Amanda Danley Langley and (can't remember first name of ggrandfather, Langley. My descendents from the 1800's was Thomas Langley and Elizabeth Savage. I would be greatly interested in all the info you have on the Langleys dating back to 1790. I know we are connected to the Lock Langley who is listed on the Dawes roll as Cherokee but can't find any proof. Have been working on these records for over thirty years now and have just run up against a stone wall. I've just started trying to fill in gaps in my Langley family tree and wondered if you've had any success getting information about James Noonan Langley's mother, wife of James C. Langley. My great-grandfather was William Grant Langley, son of James Noonan Langley. We've had the same story in our branch of the family about James Noonan's mother being part of the Cherokee nation. I've also seen his middle name spelled "Nunan".

My GGGrandfather's brother was John Wesley Langley, born October 11, 1818 (or 1817) and died June 18, 1899. I wonder if this is the smae JW Langley in the Old Bethel Church History.

My GGGrandfather was George W. Langley, born April 25, 1820. I have been looking for information on John and George's Grandfather (my GGGGGrandfather)John Langley, Sr. who was born on the Isle of Man in the mid 1700's.

I have been able to document all the way back to my GGGGrandfather John Langley, Jr, Born in Maryland July 30, 1791; died December 11, 1884. John, Jr's wife was Mary Waldorf who was born in New Jersey on April 5, 1793, and died in Vernon, Ohio, December 28, 1871.

This summer, I am travelling to the Isle of Man to see if I can find any more information, but would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on where to start looking in the IOM records. Is there a tour guide that could assist with research while I'm on the island?
