Looking for information on the family of James W. Langston b. 1827 in Pendleton District SC to William and Elizabeth McMurray Langston. James married 21 Apr 1853 in Rome, Floyd county Ga Eliza Jane Lamberth daughter of Jesse J. Nicy Dunn Lamberth. I can find James and Eliza in Rome until shortly after her death in 1879.

Her estate was settled in 1880. And James left with the 2 youngest children, daughter Jessie and son Clarence Seavy Langston and went to east Texas to see his brothers. James died sometime between 1880 and 1900. We think that he may have been a victum of the Galveston Hurricane which destroyed much of downtown Galveston and caused the city to build the Sea Wall. Clarence mentioned that they were there at the time.
