I wrote my original message over 10 years ago. So much has changed since then and I have found much of that original "missing" information for the "Langston Girls" and their families. While I still have many questions, I am looking for my cousin Rick Laird who also responded to my message 10-years ago. For some reason I did not receive the reply.

Rick, if you see this, please email me: woodsk8@hotmail.com

Linda Wright-Wood
Sacramento, CA

Re: Langston

Jackie, I have a little info on the descendants of Asa Langston/Tabitha Watson-Langston.
Apparently they married in about 1796 probably in Pendleton District SC where they were living in 1800 according to the census.
Their daughter Sara (Sally) Langston was born in Pendleton district ca. 1797, married Amos McGuire around 1817 and had a son John in 1818.
I don't know the names of any other of Tabitha Watson-Langston's children, but in 1903, Elias Mitchell husband of Geogia Ann Lee-Mitchell filed for Choctaw land for his children on the basis of his belief that his wife's ancestor was Choctaw. Georgia Ann Lee's mother Sarah E. McGuire-Lee was the daughter of Sara (Sally) Langston-McGuire, daughter of Tabitha Watson-Langston. Elias's application stated that his wife was 1/8 Indian, that her mother Sarah E. McGuire-Lee was 1/4 Indian, that Sarah's mother Sara (Sally) Langston-McGuire was 1/2 Indian, and that Sally's mother Tabitha Watson-Langston was full blooded Indian.
Therefore one side of the family believed she was Choctaw.
However, the descendants of Samuel C. Lee, son of Sarah E. McGuire-Lee believe that there weren't any Choctaw in SC at that time, and Pendleton District was carved out of Cherokee land, so they believe Tabitha Watson-Langston was Cherokee. There's no record yet of her parents' names or record of tribal enrollment.
In his application for Choctaw land for his children, Elias Lee stated that he didn't know the name of Tabitha Watson's father.

Anybody with more names from the Asa Langston/Tabitha Watson family? I'd like to know more about their families.

Michele

Hi

This is my first post to an Ancestry thread, so please bear with me if I don't know the ropes.

I came across the thread through a Google search on "Richard Langston Worcester". I too am a 10th great grandchild of Richard and Juliana and would love to share information with any other Langston relatives.

My link to Richard is as follows:-

Richard Langston c1595 -> Thomas Langston 1618 -> Thomas Langston 1648 -> Stephen Langston 1695 -> Stephen Langston 1720 -> Stephen Langston 1743 -> Thomas Langston 1774 -> Thomas Langston 1810 -> Lydia Ann Langston 1843 and then moving off the Langston lineage three generations to myself.

I have a public member tree on Ancestry containing the Langston family members, but only export it as a gedcom every now and then from my own Family Tree Maker tree on my laptop, so census/BMD and other info is stored within the notes field for each person.

Please get in touch if you would like to share information

Regards

- Simon
Willis Langston is also my ggfather. He is not burried in Sheldby Co Al, he is actually burried in Chilton Co. He and his oldest son Jack were murdered in 1865 by the Blackwell Crowd from Montevallo AL. This was a gang of Southern Soldiers who refused to surender after the war ended. To read the story google Blackwell Crowd and it mentions the execution of a number of people, including Willis and Jack Langston, in the area for treason. My line is: Willis>Reason>Joseph>William.

steve.langston@verizon.net

Hi, I, too, am researching Ellen Caroline Cook. I am a descendant of Daniel Mashburn Cook, half-brother to Alexander Cook, Ellen Caroline's father. The information I am needing is where Ellen Caroline died and was buried. Information I have is that William Riley died in Tishomingo, Johnston County, Oklahoma and have searched all the cemetery transcriptions I can find online and have yet to find where he is buried. If you need help in your research of this line, please e-mail directly at genealogymom@windstream.net. If I have the information you need, I will be glad to share with you.

Patricia Cook Moore

Gary, I am researching William Riley Langston who married Ellen Caroline Cook. Ellen's father, Alexander Cook is a half-brother to my 2nd great-grandfather, Daniel Mashburn Cook. Does your copy of the Langston Family from 1313 - 1949 mention William and Ellen and their family?

Patricia Cook Moore

I am his youngest daughter Ruth's daughter Penny. I remember Mom saying that her mother who was in a sanitariumt memory came back clear as day. I believe she talked about a visit to George Robertson (oldest daughter Hattie's son) & Ruby (my dad's sister). At their house. This was in Del City, by Oklahoma City. This would have to been in middle or late 40's. I would guess she is burried at Sunny Lane Cemetery where every one else is burried. I had this info wrote down, but loned it out and it disappeared. That is in or just across the street from Del City. That may be Dell I don't remember. Love & Blessings Penny PENNYL29@AOL.COM
