LANNING, Abigail-HORNER, Ezekiel

I have an Abigail LANNING married to Ezekiel HORNER, both born NJ according to census records, births would be about mid 1700's. They had a daug., Abigail, married to William CHAMBERLAIN, also born in NJ. No other info on Abigail & Ezekiel, all appear to be in the Ocean/Monmouth county area of NJ. A great grandaughter, Frances MOORE, also married into a HORNER family. Anyone make a connection?

seeking descendents of Martha Ann (LANNING) Pettibone

I am seeking descendents of Martha Ann Pettibone (nee LANNING). It is my hope that as a female she was more forthcoming with her descendents about the family history than her brothers were. One of her brothers is my direct line and difficult to locate enough information on.

b. NY (Orange Co?) btwn 1810 and 1825
m. Alfred Pettibone in Novi area of Michigan
had a few kids
d. in Elsie MI (year eludes me at the moment)

known siblings include: Robert Conrad (aka Rev. RC), William, and Richard LANNING (variant spelling of LANING used on occassion)

email me at either prodgers (at) emich (dot) edu or cricket527 (at) e-garfield (dot) com (either way make sure something about genealogy is in the subject or it'll accidently have a close encounter with my account's wastebasket)

Waldo Laning (1886-1964)

This is great -- I am a granddaughter of Waldo Laning! He and my grandmother, Emma Reha Timmins (1892-1976), resided in South Pasadena, California, and had six children: Amelia LaVonne (1917-1997), Lois Jane (1919- ), Waldo Lynn (1924-1984), twins Leila (1926-1982) and Lila (1926- ), and my mother LaReha (1930- ). Aunt Lois still resides in South Pasadena, Aunt Lila lives in Van Nuys, and my mother (with my dad) retired to Baja, California (Mexico).

I don't know Tara, Waldo's great-granddaughter, which makes me suspect that she's the daughter of one of Uncle Lynn's children -- Ronald, David, Richard, and Cynthia -- the only first cousins of which I'm aware. Uncle Lynn died on his 60th birthday, thanks to a drunk driver, who hit and killed both him and his wife. Unfortunately, my mom and her two living sisters, Lois and Lila, lost touch with Uncle Lynn's family sometime since the mid-1980s. It would be swell to become reacquainted and to meet new relatives.

If you're interested in learning more, I will be glad to supply as many details as I can. I know that one of my other maternal cousins, Cheryl Bones Cedro (Lila's daughter), has been creating a family tree. Most of Waldo Laning's descendants are based in Southern California, specifically Los Angeles County. I am AWARE of the following direct descendants: six children, 11 grandchildren (I'm the youngest), and six great-grandchildren (not counting Uncle Lynn's grandkids, since I don't know).

You can reply to me directly at tgj@pacbell.net.

Hi Tara! We're excited that you responded to our message! I think Waldo is a brother to our elusive Ivo Laning, my husband's grandfather. Your great-grandfather Waldo was born in Wisconsin in October 1886, I think? This date would fit in with our family. His parents probably were Howard Lanning (note two "n's") and Amelia Elger. Amelia was Howard's second wife and they were married about 1884.
Ivo (1893?), Waldo (1886-?)and Charles F Laning moved from Stoughton, WI, near Madison, WI, and were living in Milwaukee in the same residence by 1904, with their mother (their father died in 1896). They lived within blocks of one another until the 1920s. I don't think there were any other siblings, although it's entirely possible there were infants who died.

We would love to be in contact with any Lanings out there who would be connected in any way. This has been a family mystery for over 65 years. Please contact me at hraab@nconnect.net. Thank you!

Charles F Laning and Waldo Laning, Ivo's brothers

If anyone has information on Charles F Laning and Waldo Laning, I have been informed that these were Ivo Laning's brothers. Charles F was born in WI in 1896 and died in Seattle in 1992; Waldo was born in WI in 1886 and died in California in 1964
--both may have been carpenters. I believe they both had families. They were living with their mother Amelia, a widow, in Milwaukee, WI, in the early 1900s, until 1930s. Please, please if anyone has any information, I would sincerely appreciate a response. Thank you for reading this.

Ivo Laning, son of Howard Lanning

I am attempting to discover what happened to my husband's grandfather, Ivo Laning, son of Howard Lanning and Amelia (?). Howard was the son of Jasper Lanning, who came to Stoughton WI from Hunterdon NJ, probably about 1840. We believe Ivo Laning was born about 1889?, and he married Anna Settgast in Milwaukee WI about 1929. After their son Bruce (my father-in-law) was one year old, Ivo left the family and was only seen twice in the next eight years. He may have had other wives and children in the WI area. Any information about Ivo Laning would be appreciated. Thanks!
