Hi, I'm trying to find the connection between Lannon and Vanderveer. My Uncle Herbert Vanderveer is buried in the same area (Pueblo Colorado Roselawn Cemetery) as George Lannon, George was born June 24 1844, died May 18 1901. Is this the same George as you are referencing? Thank you.

Hi Dot,

My GG Grandparents, John Lannon and Kate (Gaynard) Lannon were married not far from Roscommon in County Mayo back in 1876 from what I am reading in the online records of Ireland. They left Ireland and settled in Holyoke Massachusetts USA shortly thereafter. I am not sure if there is any connection, but these counties are not far from one another. Also they named one of their sons Peter which I know is not the same Peter you reference but the families seem to name their offsprings after other family members it seems. I am trying to find out exactly where in Ireland my bloodline came from as well as other family members who may still be residing there.

Genevieve

Catherine Lannon's mother, Mary McDermott, was the daughter of Peter McDermott and Winifred Bruin. Mary's brother, Matthew McDermott (married Charlotte Salsgiver), was my great grandfather. These McDermotts were from Roscommon Co. Ireland and first found in the Brant Co. Ontario records in 1851. Are you interested in the McDermotts?
Cindy Lowe

The full witness statements are available for research purposes at the Military Archives, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin and at the National Archives, Bishop St. Dublin and may be of vague interest to someone on this board.
ken lennan

The Lannon Family NY > WY > CO > CA

I just recently started my family research. John Morton Lannon was my great grandfather. He was married to Emma Fawcett and was born in Mass. or New York in 1846 or 1848. I don't know for sure. He and his brothers George, Frank, and Charles settled in Pueblo Colorado around 1880. There they found the Lannon foundry and machine shop. I believe he had more siblings: Theodore, William and Abigail. I also have reason to believe that his parents were John Lannon born in PA approximately in 1825 and Rebecca Johnson who was born in NJ around the same date. I think they made their way west and part of the family settle in WY. At the time of my great grandfather’s death in 1927, he was living in California, and his brother Frank P. Lannon lived in Denver, and Charles A. Lannon lived in Evanston Wyo. I need information regarding any of these members of the Lannon family or their decedents.

Hi, I have been looking up my great grandmother Sara J. Lannon, in Michican. Currently I did locate her death record, which still does not state her burial. Upon researching death records through a free web site called I dream of Genealogy has several listing of burial in the U.S.A. and other countries. I have came upon Robert Lannon, 8/01/1876 in one of the counties in Ohio, or Michigan. I had copied and pasted different Lannon through different states, but Robert was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, so was a Sarah Elizaberth 1/21/1874. Catharine Lannon 12/04 1837 Jacob Taylor in 2/22/1875m George W. Lannon --/--/1859 In 06/07/1872 Robert W. Lannon, Mary Guy (Cremains) 3/05/1887 04/12/1936Guy, John Lannon. Good Luck for looking through the cemetery web site I had given you. Hope this information is helpful. Maggie

James Patrick LANNON and Elizabeth Agnes MURPHY from Brooklyn

I am looking for information on this family. Here is what I know.

James Patrick LANNON (LENNON) and Elizabeth Agnes MURPHY had several children, one of whom was my grandmother. Her name is Elizabeth Agnes LANNON. She was born 10 Mar 1908 in Brooklyn. She married Murray TETELMAN (spelled TEITLEMAN on the marriage certificate) on 2 May 1929 in Brooklyn. However, the marriage certificate listed her name as CLARKE and I don't know why. She died 19 July 1976 in Brooklyn. Murray and Elizabeth had four children: Catherine, Claire, Raymond, and Helen.

I am not sure of my grandmother's siblings, but they could have been named: Francis (Frank), Catherine, Rose, and/or James.

I'd love to hear from anyone with info on this family.

Re: Lannon - McConnell

Louise,
I note your post is dated in 2000 and hope you still look at these note once in a while because I'm part of this family. Victor was one of three children who survived childhood. The children were Joseph Edwin (my father) then Victor and Viola. Blanch McConnell was actually Victor's mother. She was married to Raymond Lannon and died in 1941 in Spangle hospital. I have her marriage license and death certificate. It seems from what my mother says Victor's wife may have been named Mary but I'm not certain. I do know he died in Maryland and is listed in the SS Death Index. Since I'm just beginning to do this reaearch I don't yet have much on Vic's family. Viola may still b ealive in California but I haven't been able to reach her. My last attempt was last Christmas so I'll just have to try to write to her son again. Cambria County courthouse was able to provide the marriage license. One more curious item is that Ray had an older brother names James who married in 1899. He married Lenore(a) McConnell, Blanch's sister. So here we hae brothers marying sisters in Patton area of Cambria County, PA. Frank McConnell, father of both girls gave his consent to both marriages because the girls were both underage. I have the mother's name somewhere and will have to look it up.

Hope this helps. I'd really love to have any information you or others ahve on James and his family, Ray or Vic. I am also looking for information on Robert F. Lannon and M.E. Lannon (wife) who are listed as the parents of Ray Lannon on his marriage license.

Regards,

T. J.
Lannon from creation

Lannons will now find many early Irish references to Lannon variants on
<http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lennan/len002e.htm> , as well as, in a number of cases, links to pictures of the original Irish manuscripts.

The spelling is always a bit hit or miss and don't forget that "á" in Gaelic is long - and could be either "o" or "a", while "é" equals "a" but not "ah" or "eh".

First approximate is a "Lénin" in 606 AD in the Annals of Inisfallen. Afterthat we have a "Lonáin" in 896 and in 898 a "Lennán, son of Cathrannach" (King of Corcu Bascinn = Co. Clare), who according to the Annals of the Four Masters now with spelling "Lenae", son of Catharnach, lord of Corca-Bhaiscinn, died in 913. There is a Lonán in 1012 and an Ua (= Ó) Lennáin in 1119, also in the Co. Clare area. Subsequently there are several clerics between 1380-1466, all in Co. Fermanagh.

At the end of the page you will find a Lennán tree (from around 800 A.D.) back, through Niall of the Nine Hostages, to Adam (from the Rawlinson genealogies).

Now all you have to do is to fill the gap between circa 800 A.D and your ancestor. Then your genealogy is actually finished ;)
ken
Many Irish resources for the basic name, the earliest documented version seeming to be Olanan in 1182 AD, on rootsweb site pointed to by www.klennan.com .
A suggestion: don't get hung up on the specific spelling, since many Irish ancestors, up to 1900s, just affixed their 'X' marks. Maybe you might even need to consider 'Ly' versions, Glenn*n or MacLennan!
From painful experience of initially concentrating on Lennan, and missing many ancestors.
ken
