Re: Lantz DNA testing

Because the test is based on the Y-chromosome and females don't have a Y-chromosome.

The point of the test is to find out the genetic profile of the family, and relate it to other families, generally of the same or similar name. If the Y-chromosome is the same as that of another family of the same name, then there is a high probability of being related. If the DNAs are very different, then so are the families.

In the best case scenario, you can find a genetic match to someone who has a long, established pedigree. In any case, you will be able to rule out almost every family of the same name who doesn't match, which can also be important, and in many cases, save a ton of time.

Re: Michael Lantz YDNA

I am a descendant of Michael Lantz through his daughter, Elizabeth, who married William Gahagen. Has any YDNA test been done with descendants of Christian Lantz, who was in Washington County, MD at the same time?
Plat index in the MD Archives twice refers to Christian & Frederick Hartle, Michael's father-in-law. Also listed is 1792: "Jacob, for Christian Lantz." Could Jacob and Christian Sr. be brothers or cousins? I have not been able to find parents for this Christian either, does anyone have parents for Christian Lantz Sr.? Probably born in Lancaster County, PA and died 1798 in Washington County, MD. Wife's name was Elizabeth and they are Lutheran.

Wish it had been the same because I cannot seem to fine my Delbert's father. My Grandfather was very tall and a big boned man. Is the Delbert you speak of a big man?

Lantz family reunion now announced!

The annual 4L reunion is now officially announced!

The announcements are now printed up and in the mail for all our members. If you're on our our mailing list, then you should have one this week. We are hosting this year's reunion in GATLINBURG TENNESSEE during the weekend of JUNE 6-8TH. Reunion information, including a copy of the form that was mailed, is available on the 4L web site at:

http://TheLances.org/4L

Jim Lance has made a special donation to this year's silent auction: His old copy of LENTZ HERITAGE. Seems that many people are looking for one! Here's your chance... but you must be present at the reunion to bid & win this item!

Our organization is called The Lance-Lantz-Lentz-Lence People, which we usually abbreviate as "4L". In the past most members were descendants of the Carolina Lentz family, but since then we opened it up to anyone with the name "Lance" (or similar spellings). Our goal is to bring everyone together at an annual reunion so we can get to know each other better, learn something new about the families, and to have some just plain fun!

We would LOVE to see all the reunion "old-timers" as well as some new faces. It doesn't matter if you don't know anyone or not... you'll meet more cousins than you can "shake a stick at!"

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

COUSINS - I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE SMOKIES IN JUNE!

Yep, Alfred Wilhelm Lantz, also called (stubby)b. Oct 21,1891. My notes for him say he was a boxer and was a very good looking man. His siblings are:

Carl Johan (charles/cully)
Maria Charlotta
Edward Fredrick (my line)
Bror Henning
Signe Maria Charlotta
Esther Elizabeth
Anton Herbert
August Philip
Conrad

I have a picture from 1936 after Alfred funeral in Stambaugh of Alfreds mom and his siblings, also is Alfreds son Joe Sr. Like I said I have so much. I will try to scan this picture in. But email my yahoo. By the way Alfreds parents names are Johan Fredrick and Carolina Lantz and the name wasn't alway Lantz, it was Johansson.

Hello,

I am trying to find information on Fanny Lantz, born in 1791 in Lancaster, PA. She married John Steele, b: 1783 in Bucks, PA., d: 15 May 1848 Wayne County, OH. John and Fanny were married in PA. To my knowledge, John and Fanny did not have children.

John Steele had another wife, Mary Ann Kauffman, married in PA. John and Mary Ann had a son, Jacob Steele b: 28 Nov 1811 in Wayne County, OH and d: 3 Aug 1880 in Green, Wayne, Ohio.

It would appear that Mary Ann Kauffman is his second wife, as they were married in PA and their son was born in OH.

If anyone has any information, please get in touch with me.

Thank you,

Teresa

Samuel Wesley LANTZ.
I have found that in my part of the LANTZ family some of the folks changed the spelling to LENTZ, but just to keep it confusing, some didn't.

I believe that your great-grandfather and my great-great grandmother were brother and sister. My great-great grandmother was Emma T. Lantz her parents were Jacob and Annie Lantz. According to the 1870 census she was listed with other siblings christian, john e., hervin and one other sibling that I am not able to read on the records. I have inherited my great-great grandmothers travel trunk. Inside this trunk was some photos. In particular there is a Family portrait and a leather bound photo album. I believe that some of the pictures are of Philpot’s her husbands family but I also believe some are of the Lantz family. I am hoping that maybe you have similar pictures and might be able to help me ID the people. I have uploaded all the pictures to my website www.freewebs.com/myfamilyroots

I will be glad to send you copies of the photos.

Below is what I have of the Lantz/Switzer family
LANTZ/ SWITZER
Jacob Lantz b. abt 1834 in penn and married
Annie “anna” Switzer b. abt 1836 they had I believe 6 child.

Christian B. abt 1861
John E. abt. 1866
Emma T. abt 1865
Hervin” b abt 1869
“ka???) b abt 1873
From Penn. They the family moved to Illinois where George was b. abt. 1880
From there I believe they all moved to Nebraska. I have no other information on the family expect for Emma. I’m at a brick wall currently with the siblings.

My great-great grandma Emma T. Lantz then married Hugh D. Philpot on Oct. 1890 in Nemaha, Nebraska.
They had 4 kids
Anna Pearl Philpot (my great grandmother) b. sep. 18 1891
Benjamin Bee b. abt. 1894
Elsie b. abt. 1896
Herbert W. b. abt. 1905
