Joseph Lapham CHASE, 1784-1852, m~1815 Mary Converse of Kent and WASHINGTON in Litchfield Co. CT. They may have also lived just across the NY border to Amenia NY. Another [?] Solomon CHASE, m.1779 a Mercy Aldrich [many spellings] in Amenia NY. In 1828 Joseph Lapham CHASE moved to Durham Ontario, where Joseph died in 1852, Mary Converse CHASE, the widow of Joepham Lapham CHASE then moved to Iowa where she died 1859-1860.

Would like to see any records of their 24 year stay in Durham. Did they buy land? From whom? Who were their associates?

Their daughter, Caroline Mercy CHASE b~1822, m.1835 James Jackson, b~1804 in Ireland. Was the marriage recorded in Durham? Is there record of the arrival of activities of James Jackson there? He died in 1868 in Iowa.
