I am looking for information about my great gandfather Joseph C. LaPoint, who lived in Binghamton NY in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I know he was in the Civil War. He was Commander of the G.A.R. Post #30 (Watrous)in Binghamton in the early 1900's, but I do not know from what state he enlisted in the Union Army. He had two sons, Frank (my grandfather) and Joe. Jr., and one daughter. Joseph's wife's give name initials were "M.D.". The "D" probably stood for "Melissa", and the "D" may have stood for "Dawdly" sp? or "Dolly".
