I'm looking for the names of the parents of Joseph LaPoint b. 1836 d. 9/25/1904 married to Lavisa Bordeaux(Burdo)b.9/4/1837 d.3/28/1893. Joseph was a Civil War Veteran and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Maumee, Ohio.

Looking for info regarding Anthony LAPOINT b abt 1827 Canada and his wife Rosilla BURK b 18 Nov 1830 Canada.
Moved to NY and had two children, Rosilla b 1849 and Anthony b 4 April 1852. Families appear on 1850 and 1860 US Census. Rosilla remarried Alonzo Leach after Anthony's death. Rosilla died 18 Feb 1901 and was interred Niles, Berrien County, Michigan.

My husband's great grandfather, Thomas Lapoint,(born 1875 in Quebec, Canada) had a brother named Joseph, and a sister, Delia, as well as 3 other siblings. His mother's name is Philomene, I do not know his father's name. They came to the USA about 1880. This is according to the 1910 census in Blackbrook, NY. According to the census, Philomene had 6 children, 3 living at that time. At some time the name Lapoint was changed to Fisk. That is how they are listed in the 1910 census. Do have any information on Joseph's parents, or brothers and sisters? My husbands great grandfather's name was Thomas Lapointe, he had a brother named Joseph and a sister named Delia. Thomas was born about 1875, I do not have a date of birth for his brother and sister. I do know that his Mother's name was Philomene and was living in Blackbrook, Clinton, NY with Thomas in 1910, under the name of Fisk. Thomas came to the USA in 1880 from Canada with his mother. Perhaps we can share information.

My great, great grandmother was raised in Escott, Leeds, Ontario. She was born around 1813 and in the early 1850's she married my gggrandfather, George Langley. I was not aware that she had had a previous marriage or her year of birth. Her mother was Abigail Hagerman and her father was William LaRue. Both the Hagermans and the LaRues moved to Canada in the 1780s from the US. She probably married "a" LaPoint in the 1830s. I do not know his first name or if there were offspring. She was born in Malone on May 5, 1953, the daughter of Harry and Mel (Bond) LaPoint.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca King of Rouses Point and Amy and Ken LaValley of Churubusco; her siblings and spouses, Marlene and James Worrell of New Market, Ala., Robert and Brenda LaPoint of New Milford, Conn., Carl and Donna LaPoint of South Carolina, Debbie and Frank Woodward of Lyon Mountain, Brenda and Armand LaBombard of Merrill, Norman and Sharron LaPoint of Ellenburg Depot, Ona Mae Rabideau of Chazy Lake, Darlene and Ken LaHart of Redford, Lynn and Billy Byrd of Lyon Mountain; two grandsons, Kenneth and Justin Lavalley; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents died before her.

Calling hours will he held on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.

Memorial donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Oncology Center.

She was born in EIlenburg on Aug. 9, 1931, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Monette) Bond.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Brenda LaPoint of Danbury, Conn., Carl and Donna LaPoint of South Carolina and Norman and Sharon LaPoint of Chazy Lake; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Marlene and James Worrell of New Market, Ala., Wanda LaPoint of Ellenburg Depot, Debbie and Frank Woodward of Lyon Mountain, Brenda and Armand LaBombard of Merrill, Ona Mae Rabideau of Ellenburg Depot, Darlene and Kenneth LaHart of Redford, Lynn and Bill Byrd of Lyon Mountain; three brothers, Donald, Glen and Gary Bond; four sisters, Dolly, Elma, Eveline and Eileen; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph LaPointe

I have a Joseph Robin LaPointe in my past. His father was also Joseph Robin, and his mother was Antoinette Rolande. The younger Joseph was born in St. Augustine, Quebec in approx. 1826. Eventually moved to Chippewa Falls, WI where he married Odile (Ida) Vinette 4/15/1884. Had 2 children, 1 died at birth. Odile died 1886 shortly after giving birth to my grandmother. Joseph then disappeared and was never heard from again. Joseph's occupation at time of his marriage was Clerk, and it has been rumored that he may have managed a hotel in either Chippewa Falls or Ladysmith, WI for another Vinette. Anyone ever hear of this LaPointe?

I'm sorry, Patricia. The Ronald LaPointe I was referring to is a twin. His brother is Donald, and they were born sometime in the '60s. I want to say, probably around 1964, I think. Their parents were Louis LaPointe and Ida LaPointe. The twins were born in Caribou, ME.

Wow, that was fast. I will get in touch with Sue. This came up because I was telling my son some stories from my childhood and got to thinking about the Clingens. I had tried people searches in the past to no avail so today I tried google and what I came up with was the records for a cemetery in Corinth, NY, for Alton and his parents. Needless to say I was shocked that he died so young. Somewhere we have pictures of both Alton and Sue. My brother was Sue's age. In any event. Thanks. Amy

GARRISON, N.Y. — Sister Rita LaPoint, SA (Rosemary La Point) a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, died July 17, 2002, She was 78 years old.

Sister Rita was born on Feb. 9, 1924, in Potsdam, N.Y., to William Earl La Point and Blanche Monica.

In 1940, Sister joined the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement at Garrison, N.Y. In 1941 she professed her first vows and received her final vows In 1947. As an Atonement Missionary she ministered in various houses of the Congregation in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon and at the Graymoor Motherhouse in Garrison, N.Y.

Sister is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Wells, Mrs. Barbara Julianna, Mrs. Dorothy Teclaw and Mrs. Judith Hinman; and predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Gerald, Roswell, Alan, and Sidney; and five sisters, Mrs. Carmon Todd, Mrs. Arlene Hinman, Mrs. Geraldine Powell, Mrs. Theresa Miles and Mrs. Mary Rita Walcott.

A wake service will be held in the Motherhouse Chapel, Graymoor, on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 7 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian burial will be held in the Motherhouse Chapel on Friday, July 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Sisters' Cemetery at Graymoor.

Frank La Point and Catherine "Kate" Surprenant are also my gggrandparents. Their son Israel, bother of your Frank, is my ggrandfather. I have both of these lines back to the 1600s. She was born in Easton, ME on November 15, 1939, daughter of Aldine Wortman and the late Ellen Lundy Wortman. She graduated from Easton High School in 1957. She was a resident of Plantsville for 43 years. She was devoted to her family and was a talented artist. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Darrell J. LaPoint, Sr.; and her father, Aldine Wortman. She was a loving mother to her four children, Darrell LaPoint, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Southington, Thomas LaPoint and his wife, Lisa of Southington, Lori Foley and her husband, Paul of Plantsville and Shelly Cibula and her husband, Mark of East Hampton. She was an exceptionally loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Darrell LaPoint, III "D.J.", James Augustyn, Michael LaPoint, Kyle Foley, Melissa Augustyn, April Cibula and Heather LaPoint. She is also survived by three brothers, Arthur Wortman of Coventry, Lowell Wortman of Winsted and Gaylon Wortman of Tolland. My grandfather is Maurice LaPointe and is 85 yrs old. He isnt well and doesnt remember alot about his family. I do know that he left home at 13 or 14 yrs old from Quebec. He hasnt had contact from his family since. My grandmother Kattharina told me that she wrote a letter to his parents after they married with no response. She did tell me that his parents were Frederick LaPointe and Maria Piche and that my grandfather was baptised in Sherbrook, Quebec. I know that he had several siblings that are unknown and I would like to find them.
